i find myself saying sorry to the person that Tked me more often than i punish. like when i unintentionally run infront of a vehicle. i only punish whenits intentional or when im capping a flag and some noob keeps spamming nades at the flag.

So if someone punishes you, and some random dude TKs you, and says sorry, you will punish?

I forgive all the time unless it's a plainly obvious, on purpose TK. Like a sniper shooting me out of my attack helicopter from 3 feet away to take it. That was a punish....and a TK of my own later on.

I always forgive regardless. If all servers implemented that "3 punishes = Auto-Kick" script, then it might be different, but as it stands, punishing serves no purpose. If it was accidental, one should forgive. If it was malicious, then a punish only fuels the TKer's passion for the sport.

I only punish when i see the person look me in the eyes and shoot me knowing full well i'm on the same team or if the tk for a vehicle or if they don't say sorry. For the most part I forgive.

                        yup same.
it's not like it affects points, besides if they get kicked its only for 1 min.

Re: To Forgive or to Punish.

i have ONE rule i have stuck to since i first played.

i NEVER punish. i hit forgive button instantly. onlytime i punish if i know that tk was deliberate or malicious in its intent. and thats easy to know instinctively.

                          there are two main reasons ppl punish by default;

                          1) they are young teenagers, who have yet to mature fully in mind and spirit.
                          2) the player is ruthless and wants any chance he can to downgrade points of fellow teamate in given round so as to increase chances of round win = star

i always laugh though when i have forgiven some guy a few times, and then if i tk him by mistake sometime, he punishes me! :hmm:

I used to forgive until a few weeks ago, when you see people running into your exploding grenades or stand in front of you whilst shooting, you say sorry but by the time you've hit the q to go to sorry your punished, so sod it everyone gets punished now mistake or no mistake, fed up of being kicked for noobs

Re: To Forgive or to Punish.

I default forgive, but in many occasions, punishing is something that should be done.

Some say "Don't punish if you know the kill was unintentional". Well I can be 'unintentionally' killed 5 times in a row by the same person - they unintentionally ran over me when they were in a hurry, they unintentionally naded me, they unintentionally blasted me away when they were in a tank, they unintentionally shot me in the back of the head.

The point I'm making is the punishing can be a good thing at times. It gets the attention of the offending player, and says to them "How about opening your damn eyes?"

I play on a server that has a rule "Don't punish for accidental TK's". The problem is, your teammates get sloppy and start Tking you, don't even apologize, and continue to be sloppy... Then I punish them because it gets a little ridiculous with the TK's then the admins threaten to kick and ban me for it.

There is a difference between something being 'accidental' and just plain 'careless'. I punish the careless players, then perhaps they will pay attention to what is happening and who is around them. Situational awareness, people. Look into it.

Re: To Forgive or to Punish.

Like most of the others have said, I will only punish if it was intentional. Many times I have miscalculated where I was in relation to the chopper or APC I was trying to catch a ride on only to be TK'ed.

On the server I usually play on, the vast majority of the people see the message that they teamkilled you and immediately start apologizing. Nevermind the fact that I was the moron who caused it.....I forgive and then accept the blame for my own death and all is well.

I think in the past week, I may have only punished one person. I was standing in front of a J-10 as an engineer trying to clear a mine the other team had planted directly in front of the forward landing gear and the guy comes over to me while I'm wrenching on it and shoots me in the head,

I punished him and he asks "WTF was that for n00b?" I told him for the obvious TK to which I was met with a response of "u were in my way i couldn't take off"
