Admins can't enforce things that are part of the game in itself, but they CAN enforce rules about the way people play the game, in accordance with the RoE.
I totally agree that some admins/servers will take the language thing a bit too far, but if its the only way that they can make us talk to each other online perhaps a bit more "gentlemanly" then thats up to them. Swear at your screen or your mates on Ven/TS. I do.Lots.Everytime I die.Which is lots.

yeah, its getting pretty ridiculous. i think it should be more of an admin decision instead of getting automatically kicked....though i do think it is funny that you can get warned/kicked for saying "huh":laugh:

k, this is getting ridiculous. Why do I get kicked from servers, for my first and only infraction, for swearing, in a game where I am shooting people with assault rifles and machine guns? I mean, I would understand if I said "f*ck you admin!", but it has gotten to the point where half the servers I join, I cant say hell/damn/***. So, I propose that we remove the kick/ban part, but server owners/admins can still kick/ban at their discretion.

Thoughts? Flames?

get a mic, join a squad with no admins and swear ur head off, on time my chopper crashed and i said crap...got kicked for 0 minutes(lol 0 minutes like i care)

If a server enforces a "no foul language" policy, you should respect that. They are paying to keep their server up and running, providing you a place to play, free of charge. The least you can do is respect their wishes.

Really, it's not that hard to go an entire round without swearing. While kicking for words such as "damn" or "hell" is a little over the top, it is still fairly easy to eliminate these words from your vocubulary.

I agree completely, we really shouldn't be using bad language, and the admins can do whatever they want. I just want to remove the automated process. If I said damn, hell, or even some of the worse words, and I got kicked (with valid warning, such as a server message) then yes, I do deserve to be kicked. But if I said "F*cking nice shot dude", as a sign of respect to my killer, and I Get automatically kicked without warning, something is very wrong.

I can see your point. As has been said its up to the server as what they have. Some are strict some aren't very strict.

Its used more so to stop arguments and people disrupting gameplay, atleast that's why we use it. We don't have a long list of banned words. Just the main ones which I'm sure you can guess. No damn is not included nor anything similar to it.

Some servers don't have their language filter set correctly and it kicks or bans for part words. EG if they have *** on their banned word list (no we don't have it) and you say asset and get warned/kicked/banned they haven't setup the filter correctly. That is a problem.

We are pretty leniant. 3 warnings then a kick, 3 kicks, then a ban, all automated. So if you get banned for language you just don't get it and had plenty of warnings.

The thing is that admins like to play bf2 as well. They don't want to be bothered with people saying 'He said a bad word, kick him' and all the arguments that go with it. An automated process makes it a lot easier to police and means that the admins (who are the ones paying for the server after all) get to have a decent game themselves. If you want to swear you don't need to go out of your way to type the words. Just say them quietly or loudly to yourself and then you don't get kicked.

Valid point, but my stance on that, is that if they are on the internet, playing a game called Battlefield 2, I am pretty sure they have been exposed to swearing.

PLUS, it says on the game rating logo (ESRB for the US, other nation have age and stuff I think) it says, "Game experience may change during online play."

That answers it right there, if you can't handle it, uninstall and cancel your internet's.

Yeah I agree that's why we didn't set it up that way. You can choose whether to issue a warning and how many before a kick, then how many kicks before a ban. To get instantly kick for the 1st time is silly in our opinion but that's up to the server owner.

We use the automated process because as has been said we actually like to play too.

i got kicked for two ridiculous things today thanks to that....once i said "that was pretty gay" or something along those lines and got kicked for saying
"gay" and then later i got kicked when i said "thats embarassing" and it said i was kicked for saying "***" (AY-ESS-ESS)

There are regulary 1000 populated ranked vBF2 servers. Its not hard to go and find another one. Otherwise just control your tone, its not that hard is it?

And I dont like it when people say "Oh, there are hundreds of other servers, go to those". That doesnt change the fact that automatically kicking someone for swearing is completely stupid.

i used to be one of those kids who would swear their heads off. when i get kicked from a server i get quite mad. i hate being kicked, especially whenn i have a great score. so i jsut decided, im gona try and clean up my language. so far i rarely swear, but as a down side, i have stopped talking as much. that isnt always a good thing for the team though. i suggest everyone get a decent sized rock and a rubber malet and just hit the rock when you get pissed off at a game. it not only saves the life of your keyboard, mouse, or even your monitor. it helps release anger which sometimes gets diected at family members and friends. the simplest solutionn is to sjut stop typing your swears and say them out loud if you have to like someone already suggested.

i think the children should be sheltered, and protected from words....

god forbid a word should be heard by a young person, that would be traumatic......why i cannot even imagine the damge.....

i think we should shelter them from words until they are 18 or older, because thats the only time people can hear words and not have that traumatic effect.....i mean cmon, thats common sense.....

now lets continue pretending to murder one another in simulated violence
