Good news! I got it to work.

Now, is there a squad bug that prevents you from joining or creating a squad? Ive experienced this many times now.

Also, whats with the double reloading, I reload, then it repeats again, usually costing me my life. Is this a lag or game issue?

Nope its BF2 (and I am not joking here).

I waited 18 months for this game to be iorned out and bug free before purchasing. My copy arrived this morning, I install the game, download the the other half of it called '4.1', click the icon and I get, 'Please insert the CD'.

Ok, I eventually get that working, get into the game, select my spec ops kit and surprise, it decides that Id be better off as assault instead. Five more minutes pass, and the game decides its had enough for one day, and crashes to desktop.

Now, what kind of show are these EA clowns running?

Oh oh it gets better. Even though Ive patched the game, I get the update letter when logging in, clicking the link, Im taken to the download page for BF3, oh wait, no Im not, it shoves BF2142 in my face.

Congratulations! I should give you a jingly rainbow hat, just for being the biggest fool I ever seen!

You WASTED 18 months of your life, anticipating a game instead of just damn well buying it when the thing was still semi-decent.

1.2 was the best patch, no other compares.

You got the game to work, that's good news. There is a bug with spawning on your squad leader, I usually get round it by clicking the green spawn point and pressing enter in quick succession, maybe others can suggest another technique. It's worth noting you now have to spawn at least once when in a squad to have the privilege of spawning on the squad leader (except when you first join a game). This was done to stop people from switching between squads with the only motive of spawning on their leaders.
There's also a bug with the double reloading but I've only had it once, some people seem to have it worse than others. That's BF2!

Your 7600 should run bf2 pretty well. This is what you have to do. Sorry if you know all this already
1-Start menu > Control panel > add/remove programs
select bf2 and any add ons like special forces, or bf patches if they show up
2-reinstall bf2 but this time to a different location than last time you installed it.
3-download the patch 1.41. You can get it from any site, even look it up on google. It should be about 500 megs in size (put some coffee on!)
4-run the patch and let it do its dirty work.
5-Start bf2 and if you still have those exact problems post back

500MB = 6 minute Dl for me at top speed...man, I love my comcast

Who said I wasted 18 months of my life anticipating this game? I didnt sit on the computer twiddling my thumbs. It was a simple matter of glancing at forums, seeing all the complaining, and not buying.

I dont hand over $100 for 'semi decent' software.
