Also, after playing the demo and going to 4.1, everything feels, 'slow'. Its as if everything in the game has been nurfed, for instance it takes so long to go prone, you're dead before you can get half way down.

4.1? I first thought it was a typo for the 1.41 patch but that's twice you've typed 4.1....is it something i've missed or?

When you re-post could you include;

Screenshots of your kit selection screen and what your selecting?

Video settings

When you do select the kit is it highlighting, as sometimes if the aserver or connection is laggy (normally at the beginning) you slect but it doesnt register...make sure it highlights.

Also firewall and anti-virus.....what are you running?

Yep, lots of people complain about a loss in performance with every patch, I haven't noticed anything personally. 1.41 introduced a delay when going prone or something like that, supposedly to stop dolphin divers etc but people do it all the same... Visit www.tweaguides.com to find out how to make your bf2 run faster and take your time reading it because it's long! how did the reinstall go?

BF2 unpatched. 50-60 FPS.
BF2 patched to whatever my last patch was, around 30-20.

Its not MY PC, its BF2.

What are the rest of your system specs? For all we know, you could be running a 7600GT on a P4 1.7GHz and 512MB RAM which will never cut it...

What are you talking about?

I ran the game with 50-60 FPS (YES!), with

P4, 3.0
512 cheap RAM
128 ATI Radeon 9550 SE

I got everything set off or the lowest in the video-settings and I get around 99 FPS.

Partially why I stopped playing for a long while. 50-60 is great, 20-30 is at the level of awful.

Ok, I have uninstalled the game and patch, only now I cant get my PC to read the DVD, again.

I can insert any other CD/DVD and it works immediately, BF2 does nothing. I've tried to create an image, but its useless unless it can read the disk.

WTF is with the disk?

I like the ranking system, I like following my stats and recieving a little png image with a drumroll now and again. So what? I think it adds to this game. If you want to avoid stat padders and Karkand whores then find a nice well run server with a good map rotation and stick to it.



Yes we're aware of the mod, I'm very aware of it from PRM players/makers constantly coming on here, moaning about BF2 and then offering it up on the third page of a thread as this magical solution. If I want to play it I'll download it, stop trying to shove it down peoples throats.

I waited 18 months for this game to be iorned out and bug free before purchasing. My copy arrived this morning, I install the game, download the the other half of it called '4.1', click the icon and I get, 'Please insert the CD'.

Ok, I eventually get that working, get into the game, select my spec ops kit and surprise, it decides that Id be better off as assault instead. Five more minutes pass, and the game decides its had enough for one day, and crashes to desktop.

Now, what kind of show are these EA clowns running?

Oh oh it gets better. Even though Ive patched the game, I get the update letter when logging in, clicking the link, Im taken to the download page for BF3, oh wait, no Im not, it shoves BF2142 in my face.

Good news! I got it to work.

Now, is there a squad bug that prevents you from joining or creating a squad? Ive experienced this many times now.

Also, whats with the double reloading, I reload, then it repeats again, usually costing me my life. Is this a lag or game issue?
