In this game USMC forces are protagonists and MEC/PLA are antagonists, its as simple as it gets.

If you want a MEC vs PLA warfare, theres probably a need for an unranked custom map, or a mod.

This game takes place in the not too distant future. The only POSSIBLE conflict within the next few years would be between the MEC and US (already happening) or the US and China (increasing tensions taking place between the two nations). The MEC and China never face off in this game simply because that wouldn't happen in the near future.
