Why is the SVD becoming so popular?

Since I started playing people have got all the unlocks and yet, they still resort to the SVD. Why? I mean it takes about 4 bullets to kill someone. It's not that accurate. So .. Why?

Personally I love the SVD its a great gun. People are using it a lot more now maybe to hold down troops that are cornered so other team members can make a move. Its also good because you can quickly pump 3 or 4 shots into someone when with the M24, M95, and L96a1 it takes 2. you can kill someone faster with the SVD then the other snipers.

Because somehow some of them are starting to get multiple kills on one clip with it. They've figured out some nuance that allows them to stand there out in the open and 1-shot you.

I've seen many lately doing this and taking me out before I can even cause them damage. I don't get it though, when I use it, the recoil doesnt allow me to kill 5 guys in a row bang-bang-bang..

The recoil is horrible, thats why I stick with the L96A1. The recoil it self can let you shoot a rat on the ground one second and shoot the space shuttle out the sky the next.

SVD has actually become useful in competitive IO play recently and when they added a delay to prone, playing changed a lot. Now Dragunov is actually extremely deadly in IO combat, because dodging bullets and shooting back is very difficult. Thus one sniper laying down can take out even groups of multiple medics.

Long story short: 1.4 changed "pronespamming" so that firefights are won by camping or not moving and thats where Dragunov has superior accuracy and damage over other assault rifles.

Yeah, so they must be using a no-recoil or some other hack to just stand there and do it then. I'm not kidding. this guy was taking out 10-15 of us in succession before I'd finally get him.

If everyone who has been accused of being a hacker actually was, there wouldn't be a legitimate player in this game!

yes there are hackors but this is the vast minority, probably totalling less than 1% of all players.

I mean I can see why it's alright having an SVD .. When your running and you have the SAVD in hand and a hostile comes out of the corner plop down and fire. (Four shots.) You killed him. With the other sniper rifles it's different.

Aside from that, The SVD is VERY weak in my opinon.

Sure, there are hackers ingame. But not everyone that knows how to handle the rifle, hack.

I think like the author, but with support players, just cuz i cant hit **** with it.

SVD is easy kills. if you're 0.250 seconds in one place, youll head will magically pop outta the place. not even that hard

ive been using it more recently, i try and aim for a headshot if i dont get it 9/10 times i kill him during the next few bullets.

I'm a die-hard M95 fan...the SVD is nice to crank off rounds, but I still perfer the damage dished out with the M95.

This is very true. If I play IO maps I always take semi-auto if I can. No when I've enough practise to master rifles, it's more faster than those bolt action rifles. If it's headshot it doesn't matter which rifle it is, one shot kill like u all know. Semi-auto makes sniping a bit different you can be quite aggressive player with it. Just try to engage before they are in your skin and you have the advantage.

I'm not sure how fast you mean but if they are all running towards me and I manage to pull out one of those better aims, I would say that 5 fellows in about 5-7 seconds is not so strange. I can do it and I've seen many other pulling such accomplishment also. 5 guys in 3 seconds, then stinks.

Ugh .. I hate the times where you have to aim in front of them, most of the time I either aim to far, or just completely miss, that's why I am support. If not assault.
