But did they improve engine speed, frame performance, map/texture size, physics? The hallmarks of a revisited engine?

BTW, the guy that created Sharqi and Karkand was the guy that designed most of the core maps of 2142. Same guy, I spent an hour last month talking to him.

Faster loads, better speeds, and much improved physics over BF2s circus-esque system.

About the maps, thats cool, I guess he got some creativity after BF2, because thats really all my choices are. All the Chinese maps look alike, and all the MEC maps look alike, with the same strategies and the same shortcuts/chokepoints.

You need to double your RAM and get a better CPU. Like an Athlon 64 3700+ on the minimum.

When the alpha build goes out to some of the testers, I sure will. But as it is, DiCE is only alpha testing Bad Company.

Ah yes! I did hear about that. And I would think those optimizations could be retro fitted into the current BF2 engine with some work.

BF2142 a better game?! ROFLBUKKAKE! Its a joke, isnt it?

BF2142 is a refurbished BF2 version, with only really new elements being the hovercraft system (horribly designed, sucking, yet new), walkers (very good concept) and the Titan (HORRIBLE Titan design, not to mention horrible lag and FPS loss while doing your thing inside there).

There are a few improvements, but its a stale, unoriginal looks-like-an-expansion-pack-esque BF game, with its main gun being the stat tracking system (surprise surprise) and the unlock system (here comes the real kicker)- with a lot of the unlocks being standard issue equipment in BF2, like grenades.

No, BF2142 isnt anything special. 30 minutes into the game I saw myself playing for stats and unlocks, and not for the game. And dont get me started on the vehicles...

i think that instead of releasing BF2142 EA should have gone down a more Project reality type route.

enhancing on a concept which is far from warn out and creatigna game which is yet a again, a step up from the rest, submersing you into a modern battlefield.

lets face it there is a lot more realism issues which could go into BF2. Only some of which the modders have picked up on, surely a game developer like EA can come up with these imaginative ways of making the battlefield more realistic.

not just running (stupidly slowly i might add) around with stupidly unnaccurate weapons with corny sights and rediculous mechanical dogs which walk on two feet.

Well, I am not saying it sucks, but to paraphrase it....

If 2142 is 150 years in the future, and you can't kill someone standing 20 feet away with less then two rounds, then something sucks about that future.

First off, how many guns in BF2 can kill in 2 bullets, not including the sniper rifles.

Secondly, I almost always take out people with a quick 2-3 shot burst from my Baur, sometimes 1 with a headshot.

and if a year and a half down the development line after BF2, EA cant think of anything better to do than rip the ideas of SPLASH development and their game Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, and rip it badly i might ad. then i dunno maybe they should make other types of games and maybe people shouldnt buy em.

and oh yeh i forgot to moan about the adds! lol

The AK kills armored targets in 5 hits, and unarmored in 3 hits.

3) The ads are not horrible, and many players have yet to even receive ingame ads (me)

Basically, this is EA/DICE admitting they screwed up BF2 with faulty patches blah blah blah, but they allegedly learned their lesson and will do a better job in 2142.

Following the v1.05 Update for Battlefield 2142, some players have experienced crashes at the end of the round when playing in Titan mode. The crash occurs under a certain circumstance while the Titan explosion is taking place. Today we are releasing a hot fix, Update v1.06, which corrects this problem. No other changes are introduced in this Update.

Please remember that when installing Update v1.06 for Battlefield 2142 you must first exit the game. This also applies when downloading the Update through the EA Link.

It doesn't sound like they learned anything. We went through this in BF2 in 1.3patch.
And just for laughs and giggles, 4 patches later and people are still having this lovely problem.
