    2142 is dying

    got these off xfire

    game ------------------ minutes played

    Battlefield 2 ------------ 3,274,685

    Battlefield 2142 --------- 1,746,615

Battlefield 2142 used to be close to 3,000,000 now it has decreased dramatically in minutes played while bf2 has gained a little.

so based on xfires data i would say that battlefield 2 will last atleast another half year, atleast until 2142 is all patched up.

    Re: 2142 is dying

Old news. Its sad though, as DICE has failed miserably and with an awful impact on Battlefield fanbase.

One, BF2142 failed to be the successor to BF2. Two, they killed the mods, which would have been proper successors to BF2.

Now fans are stuck with the game which theyve sold failed booster packs, EXP pack. Fans are stuck with a game which does not receive proper facelifting in correctly made patches and new content at regular basis. Fans are stuck with a product, which in total has deteroriated from its v1.0 stage.

I have no idea how Bad Company will be duking it out with Crysis, if BC will come to PC.

The game was great for the firs month or 2 but now, 3 rounds and I'm BORED of it. Bf2 I can play all night if I want and it doesn't get boring.

Yet you signed up to a bf2 forum (and posted 11 times thus far) just to bash the game...you're about as worthless as tits on a boar.

So what's the story with the spyware thing?

I vowed never to buy BF2142 when, on the day of release, people started posting that pic of that "Spyware Included" insert included inside the box that stated, among other things: "If you don't want spyware running on your machine, do not install this game" (paraphrasing, of course).

Was that just a paranoid derived, over-hyped myth?

I only ask because I still people complaining about the in-games ads, but I never see anyone mentioning the spyware anymore. *shrug*

It was a WAY overhyped myth. Basically, they released your ip to an ad server (to release the proper ads to the correct people) much like how your ip is released any time you access web sites or even in bf2. Several people put in a block to the port that releases your ip and many, including myself, have replaced ads with softcore porn .

                Re: 2142 is dying

This reminds me of what happened to Bullfrog. Dungeon Keeper 1 got good sales and well supported, they were then bought out by EA. Dungeon Keeper 2 got less sales, a third was planned but EA pulled the plug because it was a high risk product and bullfrog members were split up and distributed around the EA studios.

Lets hope this doesn't happen to Dice.

2142 I hate it, And it has dropped down to 10th in the minutes played on the xFire top 10 games list.

Battlefield 2 I can play, But they tried so hard on 2142 thus making it horrible.

The servers are still packed at night time on 2142 and plenty to go around.
I still see the bitterness and how you guys got worked up over the ads(spyware) in-game; when really you cannot even notice the billboards because there is so much other stuff around you.

They introduced some new stuff and it is doing fine; really have to play it with all the kits and squad based actions.
Latest News Letter which you guys can try the game for free.

Not all gamers are registered on Xfire, so your results could easily be very innaccurate.

not all gamers are on xfire this is true however that being said the population of 2142 is not going to have a greatly different percent of xfire users then BF2 making these statistics as accurate as any statistic can be without tracking every single user.
