Just a lowly Gunney here, but I'm still loving the game. Especially on servers where I can get on a well working squad.

The reason why a lot of my friends have not gotten into it boils down to two words..... "system requirements". Their wives won't let them buy a new machine in order to play a game.

I came here expecting the usual "EA SUCKS!!" crew to have posted. Well I'm pleasantly suprised, because it is those guys short-selling this game and making out it is worse than it is that is holding back BF2.

bf2 still rocks and 2142 sux, but as someone pointed out there are so many point whores out there that will do anything for a point, including diving in when they can see nades just landing then punish for their own stupidity and theres a lot less teamwork, I only play on IO servers with 2 of my mates most of the time we are on the same team and play as a team, but it sux if one of us is on th eother side as you can almost guarantee theres no team work....

The only ones holding BF2 back are EA and Dice: they still have a chance, but if they don't act soon, we'll have moved on to bigger and better things.

Vanilla BF2 would be at least a little more successful if they would:

- Introduce free maps that would include the following:
- PLA City Maps
- PLA vs MEC Maps
- Infantry Only specific maps on 16/32/64 playered map modes.

- Balance current 64 player maps which pose problems, that would include the following:
- The closeness of Wake Island's Carrier and Airbases, which allows for easy airbase/carrier raping.
- The lack of flags on Zatar Wetlands that would allow the USMC to get out of the Canyon trap.
- The Closeness of Operation Clean Sweep's Airbases, which allows for easy airbase raping.
- The eye burning glare of Dragon Valley's sky.
- Include the removal Sharqui's northern MEC uncappable to allow USMC to cause ticket bleed on the MEC forces without having to defend 100% of their flags. Either that or make the southern MEC uncappable a cappable flag, so the USMC can fight back.

- Introduce extra incentives, awards or medals to players who play on the least popular maps for both Vehicle and Infantry Only modes. I'd recommend ideas, but this is a touchy subject which could be seen as a nerf or a boost, depending on your particular affinity for a certain brown stage with lots of fog.

Dairuka makes some great suggestions. I have a few as well:

-Make SF work within the regular BF2 interface, like the other expansion packs do.
-Tweak the little things, like making the S2A missiles lock on within visual range and adjust the J-10's hitbox
-Stop changing the game with every patch.
-Give us another "Wake Island" BF1942 type map. Coral Sea? Iwo Jima?

i suppose this question could go for alot of games, but i always thought the BF seriese was more stimulating than the counter strike series, CS has a huge learning curve, but once youve learned it the game gets boring way fast, so why is it then that we only have about 1/5th the following?

should this bother me at all, in all other areas of my life i have no problem with not following the norm, but for some reason it bugs me with computer games (fps genre at least)

Huge learning curve? Me and my friend went on cs for the first time ever at a internet cafe the other day. Seriously... We we at the top of the server the whole time. And i suck at bf2 so i don't get where that huge learning curve is? Sorry mate.

The learning curve for CS has increased because there are more cheaters now than ever before: if you can perform well during one of your first games, one of two things is happening...

1- You're playing on a server devoid of competitive players and cheaters, or
2- You have innate talent at the game.

When 2142 came out my friends said it was fun, & that I would get my rank, & unlocks in no time lol

In the beginning I jumped thru a ton of hoops playing BF2 (a tough learning curve for some 1 new to online FPS), I do not look forward to jumping thru another ton of hoops, for what? Rank, & unlocks? I already have those lol

Ppl told me that 2142 is a lot better than the demo, well, all I can say is EA/Dice "dropped the ball" there

I too had to uprade my PC just to play this game, & don't plan on upgrading soon to play another game

Future warfare game don't appeal to me, war games based on actual historical battles from Roman times all the way to the present appeal to me the most

I was going to bow to "peer pressure", & play 2142 to play w/ my clan, but I am glad I "held out", because it is already "playing out" for them, & they are coming back to BF2

I hear ppl are really sick of "titan mode"

I think IO has been good for BF2 because on vehicle servers I see the most unbalanced play ever, if you join the losing (noob) team you will get raped no matter how good you are, but in IO you can get caught on the "scrub" team, & still do well personally

i agree too, i would say 98% are stat whores...the bug got me for awhile, but luckily i over came that affliction and started playing for fun again.

I think making SF under the BF2 servers would be great idea...

But i dont know what the problem is, there are like 300 servers full at one time, the population doesnt seem to matter on normal BF, however a lot of people have turned to point whoring.

This only bothers people because it makes the high ranks have worse stats than the point whorers lol, for example a medic on 24/7 karkand can make 2.5SPM fairly easily, but that is higher than most ranks with over 70k points.

Just find a generally sound server and stick with it :)

Ohhh and BF2 and BF2142 are two different games, appeal to different people, of course on the BF2 forums people will say BF2142 sucks lol.
