So why isnt BF2 more popular?

i suppose this question could go for alot of games, but i always thought the BF seriese was more stimulating than the counter strike series, CS has a huge learning curve, but once youve learned it the game gets boring way fast, so why is it then that we only have about 1/5th the following?

should this bother me at all, in all other areas of my life i have no problem with not following the norm, but for some reason it bugs me with computer games (fps genre at least)

Probably because 80% of the players are douche bags that only care about stats.

Unfortunately our friends at EA are short sighted on this game. They should have still been working on new armies to introduce, new weaponry, etc... Mission packs integrated into the main game would still do well. But they get more money on reskinning BF2 for the 2142 franchise in new sales. BF2 is already incredibly futuristic for me, ill stick with it.

Because CS offers 2 things that BF2 doesnt.

          1. You can go into the server, frag for your own fun and leave and the game is pure 100% raw fun with no brain activity involved. BF2 is like a work, if you want to have any kind of fun there.

          2. Publicity, hype around CS is so high that people play it even when they dont like it.

EA/Dice kept changing the game, adding bugs and decreasing performance with every patch they released, so it's no wonder people are leaving for better games.

I used to play CS quite a bit (cal-im level), and I'm actually considering re-installing the game because I'm sick of the sh*t I have to deal with almost every single time I play BF2: how telling is it that I would consider playing a game with a known cheating problem?

LOL. Man I missed that one completely.

Before I patch the game (download is a b!tch) I always have a round or two in the V1.0. Man that game is breeze. I lose abut 20-30 FPS when I switch to the newest patch, and I just meet the minimum requirements so playing the damn game is painful.

I haven't been keeping up with the 2142 development: how's that doing? Bugs, cheats, etc?

Vanilla BF2 would be at least a little more successful if they would:

                  - Introduce free maps that would include the following:
                  - PLA City Maps
                  - PLA vs MEC Maps
                  - Infantry Only specific maps on 16/32/64 playered map modes.

                  - Balance current 64 player maps which pose problems, that would include the following:
                  - The closeness of Wake Island's Carrier and Airbases, which allows for easy airbase/carrier raping.
                  - The lack of flags on Zatar Wetlands that would allow the USMC to get out of the Canyon trap.
                  - The Closeness of Operation Clean Sweep's Airbases, which allows for easy airbase raping.
                  - The eye burning glare of Dragon Valley's sky.
                  - Include the removal Sharqui's northern MEC uncappable to allow USMC to cause ticket bleed on the MEC forces without having to defend 100% of their flags. Either that or make the southern MEC uncappable a cappable flag, so the USMC can fight back.

                  - Introduce extra incentives, awards or medals to players who play on the least popular maps for both Vehicle and Infantry Only modes. I'd recommend ideas, but this is a touchy subject which could be seen as a nerf or a boost, depending on your particular affinity for a certain brown stage with lots of fog.

                    Those are excellent ideas.

Shame that I doubt they will ever be put forward

would seem most of the hackers have moved to 2142, leaving me some decent rounds in BF2,

so before someone whinges that im lying i actually bought BF2142 (bad me) and the 1st server i joined had to be reset because of a hacker lol, and a few other suspect players that seemed to know where everyone was without the help of UAV,

                        Same old sh!t, different day.

"Weve learned a lot from our experience with BF2!"

Next thing I read is news about a patch even before the game is released.

at DICE. As usual, the wise men get rejected and you can expect a boost in J10 in the next patch. Every patch they made, made my game worse and worse.
