I got everything turned up on uber high on my computer, farthest i can see on that map is 620ish.
not possible.
well. not looking directly at your target anyway.
this first picture shows that it doesn't matter what height you go to - you cannot see farther ahead than the max distance.
these next two show that if you turn so your target is to the corner of your screen, you can see 50+ metres further - but when you turn back it disappears of course.
now if you are going for the longest shot possible AND want to see your target, you need to get UP HIGH.
you'll need to know 2 things - the distance to your target, and your height, as we're going to use Pythagoras' theorem to work out the distance of the shot.
c being the distance you want to find out, a being your height and b being the distance to your target.
we know b as it is the max realistic view distance 600m.
we know a as when the helo airlifted you in you found out your altitude 150m.
so...
600x600 = 360000
150x150 = 22500
360000+22500 = 382500
c = square root of 382500
actual length of shot = 618.46584384264908247321147839611m
If you look at Dont_Be_ss's video of his 513 m shot on Dalian, you see him zooming in on a spotted sniper over and over, before confirming where he was. Im sure the 629 video was just taken a little after that process.
