I'm so hyped up for this game that I've ordered the Czech version and plan to convert/translate it to English in the .pbo files. It should arrive within 20 days !

But please.. don't advertise the game on a board dedicated to a game which is full of teenagers and people who make comments like "Wow the graphics look bad".

We really don't need too many BF2 players in ArmA, unless they can handle themselves maturely (most cannot..)

The game features a 9 km view distance, and the island in the game is over 400 sq/km. It is impossible with today's hardware to run with a maxed out view distance AND maxed out graphics.

Let me guess, taken from a cutscene/movie w/e. BF2 had a WHOLE different looking game but on release it was changed.

Uhm, that picture was taken by somebody who owns a copy.. it was not released by BIS. On Very High settings, those are the graphics you can expect.

Also.. I don't see what's wrong with the pictures you posted? They are by no means ugly. The models look fantastic, and realistic. Also, those were not taken at the higesht available video settings.

Keep in mind, the games main focus is realism. BIS designs combat simulators for the military.

ALso, if you're the type of person who complains that the graphics look horrible so you won't buy the game.. well good. The community is likely better off without you.

your not gonna get all the idiots you think you are because it has no stat/rank system. nubs would die fast because the guns are better and the game is a war simulation, so they cant dolphin dive across a road and revive a squad of their buddies.

it does look like a typical OP flash game, but get it on your own pc and it'll look good infront of you. videos and screenshots are a sample and not the highest quality, not to mention the pc used had a 6800U in it.

Yeah, I definitely hope the realism/difficulty drives a lot of the nitwits away. ArmA is all about awesome tactical gameplay, and the modding potential is abslutely amazing. OPF was playable for years thanks to the thousands of community made add-ons and missions.

Bah. I can't wait for my copy

People said a lot of the same things about BF2 though....that it would keep the noobs away and all...now we call everyone that does anything a noob.

*edit* that first screenshot, that desertfox posted, looks like CS:S, and thats not impressive, and you cant think that everyone will be able to run it on ultra uber high.

BF2 was never intended to be a realistic combat simulation. BF2 was always aimed towards the casual player who enjoyed fast paced action. There is nothing wrong with that, but it is not my cup of tea. I like slow, tactical, and methodical games, and BF2 is none of the above.

BF2 is very accessible. Anybody can become decent at the game in a short period of time. ArmA will posses a great deal of difficulty and it will likely drive away a lot of players looking for a fast paced arcade game.

watch some of the airstrike videos and how buildings get flattened. also the video with about a billion vehicles and people fighting is mad, theres just so many of them lol.
