Early spawn: the battle within a battle

I just love the mini battles that develop between the players who spawn first. Despite having a choice of all vehicles and air, sometimes it is more benificial for to go for that quick flag capture, or get to a good sniping spot, or try and counter the enemies attempt at such things.

Anyone else enjoy being amongst the first spawners and cutting sick?

You are not the last one in... I am. After two and half days of Verifying Client Data I am always the last one in. I swear... people must be running PCs of the future because I don't have a slacker system but the length of time it takes to load a BF2 Map and then Verify the Data each freakin load you would think I was running on an old 8086.. or better yet trying to play BF2 on my freakin Cellphone.

I still love the game though.

                I usually spawn 1st..........2nd or 3rd

what I usually do is.........well depends of the map, if on dalian Ill grab a cobra and cap one of the most important flags which is ractor(if on USMC), if on china Ill grab the Z10 and cap main entrance, if on mashtuur for example Ill grab a car and cap the flag in the middle

What it takes to load in first

                  1. 2 gigs or more of ram
                  2. 2 10,000 rpm HDD (in RAID0)
                  3. All programs running in the background disabled (including antivirus)

                  That simple

yeah it's simple if you have the hardware. Hell theres no effort at all if you have the hardware. but thanks for playing.

An effort @ wit perhaps, but is there any substance in your remark?

Are you trying to say, that if you have nice hardware there is no effort in playing BF2?

My PC doesn't move the mouse, keyboard buttons, or joystick for me buddy lol

& excuuuuuuuuse me for responding "on topic" in this thread

Fast HDD's help you load fast the 1st time a map is loaded on the server (the map is loaded from the HDD's into memory), a lot of memory helps when you play the map the 2nd time

Fast HDD's also help when the server reloads the map into memory on 24/7 map servers

I personally load the first map extremely fast because 2x 10,000 rpm HDD's in RAID0 are not the standard for gaming PC's yet [ am always the 1, 2 or 3 person in the server (64 man)], but I don't load that much faster than everybody else the 2nd time because it seems that a lot of peeps have 2 gigs of ram [there might be 5,or 6 guys in the server before me (64 man)]

I can OC (overclock) my mem, & cpu 20-25%, & it be stable in all other applications, & I will load first all the time in BF2. but BF2 is not a very stable game on it's own, so I choose not top OC when playing BF2

ps. Fast HDD's, & adequate memory only provide competitive load times, good graphics cards, & powerful cpu's determine how well you can run the game
