Fly ****ing high. I hate pilots who think they are all 1337 flying 4 feet from the water when there are three tanks and a heli.

The only reason people do it is because you THINK you are going faster because you can see the ground flying past you. You arent. You are going the same speed at 200 alt as you are at 4 alt...you can go faster when you are higher because you can dive further.

Altitude gives you options. Staying three feet above the ground is retarted on almost all maps. Especially on Wake. the only time it is remotely useful is when there are a couple jets on you, but you can avoid them at 200 just as easily.

Yes but at 200 takes a long time to elevate and also when you go you go down down and down.

200 is just an example. Anything higher than 22 feet (height of the carrier) is good.

people think your speed increases when your flying low, because the water moves fast below you, i'd go with high, but i go low aswell.

The only time you should really get low is when the enemy has only one base and you can circle around it with your gunner just digging into the enemies.

its a classic case of chavitus, brought to the people of BF2 by chavs.

Re: Heli go up or down?

So you are one of the people that thinks its cool to fly low.. and make the gunner "piss his pants"

Let me tell you... all you are doing is pissing your gunner off extremely, and making your chances of dying about 99%.

The best way to figure out how high to go, is this... Make it so that whatever angle you are facing, you are high enough that if your gunner sees something that you don't, he has time to curve it up and still make the shot. Like if you are going full speed (like a 40 degree angle facing forwards), you will probably need to travel at 40 feet or so to make your gunner happy. If you are just kind of circling around an area or something, you don't need to stay high, but aim the gunner if you see something.

IMO the only time a pilot should fly low is if he has exp. and has good sit. awareness and he lines the gunner up for every shot.. etc. You can't just fly low all the time.. the only thing you are doing is making yourself look like a really bad pilot and pissing off the gunner.

And also, flying high... Personally, as a jet whore... I HATE choppers that fly high... why? because all you have around you is sky.. You have no reference point for distance... if you don't understand that, think of it like this... you are like 300 ft away shooting at a chopper... next thing you know, you are right in front of him.. so if you aren't really paying attention to distance, it's easy to accidentally hit the guy.

A chopper that is flying LOW however... a jet can come from higher up, which gives him extra time to kill you... he can set himself up easier to get behind you to kill you... etc.

I'm gonna stop typing.. lol. Basically, what i'm trying to say is, don't fly low in a chopper!... flying high is the best thing.. and by high, I mean no more than 120 or so ft, but no less than like 30.

^^^ what metallicaguitrst said. plus if you fly too low you risk getting hit by a tank shell.
