    Re: The Truth About CAL

It's amazing how much you know about CAL players in BF2 PlaneWhore. Especially since you have never competed in CAL. You can sit here and toss around the "macroing", "tweaking", "pixeling", and whatever else you would like. Once again as said in my previous post everyone is entitled to an opinion. However, don't be surprised that people that actually participate in CAL are arguing with your logic. Don't be surprised other people who haven't participated in CAL are agreeing and siding with CAL players.

I know with as much as you like to argue as I can see from these recent posts its hard to admit your wrong or may be wrong. Who likes to? The fact remains you are trying to give your ultimate knowledge on a topic you have no experience in and a league you have not competed in. It's like a baseball player trying to tell you that 95% of the football community uses steroids. Who cares what he has to say? He doesn't compete within that area. His opinion is his own but it holds no substance. Much like your opinion about CAL holds very little substance.

I have played in the BF series of CAL almost every season since the release of 42. I think I may have missed 2 in actual CAL but still competed elsewhere at the time. However, I still was an active part of the community and was still scrimming and gaming. I have never once used a macro, tweak, hack, or whatever else you would like to call it. I have pixeled if you consider that cheap and was one of the very first players to use it in a match situation.

However, the discipline needed to sit in a spot and shoot at a target and keep it down. Perhaps never getting a kill and just finishing 0-0 or even 0-3 if they come blow you up.............can be very rewarding. If your team wins because you had the discipline to do what is best for the team........ I'll take you over the guy who needs to be Rambo and have a high score. High scores mean nothing at the end of the game. You can go 25-2 in a match. If those tickets are not in your favor no one remembers what you did! Even if they are in your favor. The guy who went 2-2 but those two kills saved a cap on a crucial flag because he stayed where he was supposed to the whole round. He could be considered the hero.

This game is very team based and very individually talent based as well. You wouldn't ask your heli pilot to play an infantry map and sit your star infantry. People accel in different aspects of the game. You have to decide who to put where and who could handle a situation best. Should we leave our best infantry to defend the back flag? Is it worth it or can we put our #5 guy back there in a good spot and have him defend it? Do we really want to lose our advantage up front? Do we want to push with the tank or do we think they will be looking for that and go AT? Should we cause a diversion at one flag and get a squad set up on another? Who should we make the squad leader? Can they stay alive by themselves long enough until the other people spawn?

We ask questions that are based for the good of the team. You ask questions based on the good of yourself. Do "I" have to save a crappy team? Does my commander drop "me" assets? "I" can only depend on "myself." So next time you want to give an opinion based on a league of "team" gameplay make sure you are qualified to do so. Clearly with all the "I's" and "me's" its hard for people to respect your opinion on a team based league. Clearly you are entitled to it, but you may want to become a little more knowledgable in the area before you expect people to respect your opinion.

stop talking out of your ***. the only thing you're good at is base-raping and shooting down planes while they're on runaway or just taking off AND THAT TOO ON PUB SERVERS, where the enemy pilots are more concerned with racking up points than actually hunting for you. so until you 1v1 elder and show demos of you taking him down in balanced jets, you can enjoy your pubnub totalbf2 all-star status.

amazing how he pretends to have not seen elder's challenge, but replies to every other post.

          Re: The Truth About CAL

To start off, I have not played in a clan since Quake. Yes, the original one. The reasons being a very simple I put wife/kid before the game and only play late night after everyone else is in bed. Scheduled scrims and matches are simply not another pressure that I would like to have. I have enough on my hands playing Lego Star Wars and Bionicle.

What this essentially comes down to is two very different ways of playing the game.

On one hand, you have CAL players. They play the game to win the match. The match win is the be all end all. Certain amounts of time are spent working out strategies, game mechanics, and player roles. Time is invested in scheduled strategy testing, team practices, clan scrims, and league matches. Matches are played out on a small scale, with certain expectations from the other clan. Typically, clans are recognized as a whole for their skill in winning the match.

On the other hand, you have the typical BF2 player, who is a little more difficult to define. Their reasons for playing vary widely, from playing for stats and medals to playing for fun and relaxation, and everything in between (including the ones that imagine shooting that annoying co-worker that you cant otherwise get rid of and expect to not serve jail time). Some even play for the match win, believe it or not, and some actually strategize maps, albeit on a smaller scale and with substantial backup plans depending on team/squad skill. It is more of an individual play style, though, and substantially different from CAL.

I personally play for no-commitment fun, the match win, and individual (though highly localized) respect, which is why I spend 90% of my time on one server. I try to lead a squad logically with a fluid game plan, adjusting on the fly depending on particular situations, to win the match. And hopefully maintain a positive KDR, because that’s what I like.

Having said that, I think it is a bit goofy to sit here and say one or the other ‘suck’ and are 'nubs' because of this. It’s like the apple saying the orange ‘sucks’ because he is orange. Sure, they are both fruit, but they are two different fruits.

Granted, in a scrim situation, the pubbers will get squashed in match wins. I cant and wont argue that. That would be like me walking up to Royce Gracie, screaming ‘Im about to kick your a**’, and punching him. Two things will result. I will lose, and I will lose badly.

I think it would be interesting, though, to reverse the situation and take the CAL players and place them in a different environment. Play a full 64-player server, split them between the teams (no teamstacking), no more than 1 or 2 in each squad, and in-game VOIP only. No TS or Vent. Non-IO. Non-Karkand. If nothing else, it would be interesting. Pub play is a lot more varied than I think CAL players give it credit, especially if you play something other than Karkand. And there is a fair amount of skilled players in pub play, as well. They just play the game for different reasons.

If I really wanted to participate in competitive gameplay I can guarantee it WOULDN'T be in Battlefield 2 but rather a much more skillful game like CounterStrike or the multitude of other FPS that require much more skill. And like it or not Elder might say he has shot me down but yet he can't generate a single screenshot of this momentous occasion. That's a laugh, any and all screenshots that you have of "shooting me down" are all screenshots of you raping me on the carrier, none of which where I ever got up to dogfight you. You want me to show you a screenshot of me shooting you down? Wow that's funny, because unlike you my ego isn't so fragile that I have to take a screenshot of every person I shoot down or kill them on the ground and claim "I shot him down". That and the fact that I wasn't even slightly impressed with your flying and couldn't care less to have some trophy screenshot of shooting down a mediocre pilot. I shot you down bomber vs. fighter, I know I did, I know I'm better than you. The difference is unlike you I don't need to prove it to anyone but myself. If you want to keep lying in order to salvage your reputation with the pubbers that read this forum then go ahead, but we both know who's better.

I'm not going to continue arguing your points planewhore, because with the statements you've already made you have lost any credibility out of the little you had to begin with. You claimed that you believe 95% of all CAL players use some sort of cheat and a lot use macros. That's a bold statement to make with absolutely no proof. If someone would have made that statement in a CAL thread they would have been flamed endlessly for it.

You throw all this garbage around like you are god's gift to BF2, when all you do is base rape pubbers in a jet or tank. The CAL community knows how good its pilots are and until you pull screen shots out of your ***, or you 1v1 Elder or someone on his level and show us the proof of you owning. The only thing you are doing is blowing smoke up everyones ***. Time to put your money where your mouth is, so to speak.
It's simple, his fragile ego couldn't handle what would happen if he lost.

Post the proof then. I want to see it. Until I see proof of you winning a dog fight against Elder or someone of his caliber in the jet, I could care less what you say you've done. And what I mean as proof are demo's of something besides you rapping on the carrier/airfield or killing him on take off.

dont quote me, but I think its basically aiming at certain pixels to know were the rocket is gonna land...like on Sharqi the pixel aming from the TOW to chopper.

Sort Of, Basically you select certain pixels or spots to point at. Then fire the TOW/ERYX/SRAW and move it to another pixel or spot that you know hits a certain target. This is only used for shots you can't see, or are behind other objects. For instance, on the (16) player size Dragon Valley, there is a really nice TOW pixel from Hill Village to the USMC Main. You can keep their chopper down just by pixel aiming the TOW. You start with the TOW pointed slightly up and just to the right of wood beam that is beside the TOW. After firing you drag the cursur, while holding down the fire button up and to the left, over untill the full circle of the Reticle is on top of the next wood beam on the building. If aimed properly and with enough height the TOW will destroy the USMC chopper every time. There are several pixels on nearly every map, and this is just a basic one.
