    Re: The Truth About CAL

Well try reading is what I suggest here Skauboy. You were generalizing from the bat here. I just pointed out that some weapons that are availible as unlocks are pretty much the same as the default weapons.

If you never use unlocks in pcw's and matches because of the aforementioned reason, not being able to use them in servers with a pw aka clan-match servers, you will offcourse build up more experience with them. Simply because you put more time in them. Same goes for myself in this case. I hardly step outside of the bolt-action group (M24sws / L96A1) and I have become pretty proficient with them. Nobody is argueing with you there.
What I do have a problem with, not with you btw, is the so-called fanbois that stop by on forums proclaiming people that use unlocks are noobs and you are only good if you use the default weapons. Because that is basicly pure bullcrap.

The one player who legitimately shot me down over 2 years ago (BullShark) still has the screenshot! He treasures that screenshot because he knows shooting down the (former) best Battlefield 2 pilot is something to be proud of. If you'd like me to get the screenshots of me shooting you down 10 times in a row I'd be glad to dig through the CAL forum archives but I'll spare you the additional embarrassment. Yes I fragged you a couple times on the carrier for ****s and giggles but I let you get airborne at least 5 or 6 times before I blasted you down. The funniest part though was at the end of the round when I ended the game with something like 80-0 K/D and you left the server without saying a word like a dog with its tail between its legs. This was in the days before the uber A2A missiles so it didn't matter the slightest if I was in a J-10 or an F-35B because I was just that good.

I hate to wound that pro gamer ego of yours but fact is I'm better than you, I'm better than 99% of CAL-O or CAL-M players and quite frankly I'm probably the all around best battlefield 2 player as of current.
All around best bf2 player and better than 99% of CAL? You see that's exactly what I'm talking about planewhore, you have the biggest ego in this game bar none, but you have absolutely no reason for it. I have no reason to lie, unlike you I don't need noobs worshipping me on public forums to feed my ego, everything I said has been the truth. It was hilarious how you bombed me on the carrier and shot my plane taking off like 10 times AND took screenshots of it, but you never shot me down, not once. You couldn't out turn a bomber when you were in a fighter planewhore and you bail like a little ***** every chance you get to protect your kdr which you care so deeply for. Just accept the fact that you aren't good, at all. You were always terrible at air to air and all you can do is camp.

I find it humorous how you fabricate and exaggerate everything, like how you say you "shot me down" because you killed me several times taking off and on the carrier deck, but not once in air. Also two years ago? You might want to check your calender there genius because the game hasn't even been out for even close to that amount of time.

I'd challenge you to dogfight me 1v1 and play some of the best inf, tankers, and heli crews in CAL 1v1 since you think you're the best, but then again you've always been one to back away from a challenge.

I did read bud. You generalized right off the bat as well by stating one comparison of unlock/vanilla being the same. Not some as you stated in your post I quoted above. Clearly that is not the case with the other weapons as well. Making that comparison was generalizing and hence why I had to make a generalized argument back. There was no specifics in your aforementioned post. Clearly with no specifics it is impossible for me to make a clear argument so instead I needed to generalize in the same terms you did.

Well I don't know who those people are that make those comments but I would bet they say it because they know it upsets you. So just ignore the comments made by them and let it go. Responding only eggs them on to continue posting and get under your skin.

Fun it will be indeed. But lets dont kid anyone around here. If this event goes gold, CAL will obliterate the TBF2 team, and eventually this event would serve only as a precedent that many of the worst kind of CAL players would use as a tool to mock public server player. A´la - "yeah, pub scrubs suck, we beat them into pulp". As a matter of fact, I have no doubts that the best of CAL people will actually sign up for it.

Its just nature of things, hell if you look back at the Cold War, youd see the same thing when it comes to US and USSR!

Anyway, about the unlocks- Its true that on paper it can be seen as many weapons are balanced out, they excel at some areas and are useless at others. But in truth, many unlocks overpower certain classes. BF2 kit system is a joke. Just look at how theyve managed to make Medic class better at being an anti-infantry class, and give AT close combat weapons that beat most weapons with no contest. So keeping it as close to vanilla will keep the game on a white, equal sheet and keeps the true game spirit. Although, I would suggest that CAL would give TBF2 team the bonus in allowing TBF2 team to use unlocks.

If this were to be done I'm sure the CAL players would have no problem with that.

I still think the differences are not that big or completely absent between the unlocks and the defaults. I wont go over them one by one, but you can see them for yourself in this thread Weapons Chart.

And Skauboy I dont get upset about pretty much anything these days which involves a game. I am a bit too old for that. At best it annoys me, but the time for talking smack back at these obvious minors is something I have little time for. I rather play the game for those couple of hours I have open for it.

                  Re: The Truth About CAL

Weapons Chart gives you nothing. The real problem is that unlocks alter the power of a class, even in certain aspects. An AT soldier shouldnt be tougher than any other class at any distance, yet the Protecta does that. And so on.

The weapons chart makes it easier to compare the various weapons on their damage and other significant aspects of the weapon. If you dismiss that you obviously have a flawed logic.

It will be vanilla, with all unlocks that people have unlocked , can use.

Maybe some people will see that teamwork is cool and that scrims/matching is fun and actually look into joining CAL. Then again, the flipside, if some of the CAL guys conduct themselves like they do on the CAL forums, it might push people away and affirm their thoughts of the EGO punks in CAL. Dont get me wrong, there are those people, as there are in all games, but dont let a few bad apples ruing the bunch... ya know.

I say make TotalBF2 team use the defaults. Seperate the men from the G36E boys.

Planewhore's current username is Bungalow_BiII thats Bi CAPTIAL I CAPITAL I, not Bill.

edit: I believe TotalBF2 would get its face rocked by CAL. Same thing happened in the BF2Combat vs. CAL match in March or April or whenever that was.

The main reason that CAL does not allow unlocks in competition is very simple. Unlocks cannot be globaly unlocked to allow every single person in the server every unlock. You are only allowed to use the unlocks that you've earned through countless hours of pubbing or purchasing expansion packs. Therefore, to make the playing field even between all players as far as the weapons are concerned then only basic ones are allowed. One player should not be allowed an advantage over another player simply because they have spent more hours on ranked servers to gain unlocks that unbalance the kits, such as the G36E, PKM, etc.

Holy crap. Skauboy is a [20ID] player?

I saw you on 365 Insomnia's Mashtuur server yesterday when I was tank whoring. (I've decided that I should finally stop procrastinating, and go for my Expert Tank/Transport/Helicopter/Plane medals now, so I don't have to worry about it later.)

Truth to be told, placing a bunch of top notch players who are used to play in a well oiled machine, against a bunch of guys with varing skill level who are used to solo, only one possible outcome comes to my mind.

I still remember the BF2C vs CAL game.
I agree. TBF2 is going to lose horrifically.

However, I plan on bringing my A-game, so that I can at least make it difficult. I'm used to facing off against full squads of high quality players by myself, and still managing to come out on top. I'm hoping that if I can do that even once to some of the world's best players; I'd have proven my point that not every Pubber is as easily catagorized as 'pathetic' in the eyes of clan players. We're just disorganized.

Don't get me wrong. Organization is a strong contribution to a person's skill. People who are well organized, and exercise expert tactics in a game always come out on top for a reason; but to say that pubbers suck because we don't have the same brand of organization, is no where nearly true.

I'm willing to bet that more than 50% of the Pubbers who have posted in this thread have had experience with clan-scrims. I'm willing to be that 75% of the Pubbers who have posted in this thread would excell in an organized setting; possibly just as well as the top clans. I'd even bet that there are one or two Pubbers who have posted here in this thread who would be able to give some of the best players from the top clans a run for their money as BF2 Champion in circumstances that're even and fair.

Were I a leader of a clan, I'd take the inevitable TBF2 vs CAL game as a chance to recruit new talent. Of course, I'm an unbiased non-partisan player who likes to see things in Grey and not Black and White.

Eh wrong ... you are only allowed unlocks on ranked servers. A clan-match server is by definition not ranked. Hence the rule no unlocks, because you dont have the option of using them anyways.

Um no, that was only added as of the last patch. Prior to 1.4 you could enable unlocks on ANY server, ranked or not. CAL has had these rules in place since day 1.
