Well that's kinda the point of being in a clan. Not only do you always play as a team but you know your team. You practice with them, know how they play, etc. Most of this isn't news to me since I have lots of friends in both TWL and CAL.

yea but im just saying why they do well, you've explained in more detail tho. a team of pubbers would loose against a clan because of the lack of teamwork. simply because it doesnt really happen on publics.

but.. as i said earlier, a team of the top pubbers (no not the medic/support players from karkand...), would obliterate most CAL clans right untill they got up to the top division, where they would get some good tough games.

yup clan players arent much better players.. you will find many of the top pub guys that play alone can easily own them. but a team working well together can be hard to beat, and thats where a clan will excel.

You will hardly find CAL(M) players pubbing, and when they do it, they hardly try their best.

But yes, I've played with some of them, and I have to say, I've never seen pubbers better than them.

Unfortunately the majority of the BF2 populace, i.e. the pubbers, will never really care or understand. You can already see from the few responses in this thread that they will probably always stereo-type the competitive player as one who uses cheap tactics, macros, hacks etc.

Although I do urge some of you guys who frequent the forums to download BF2Pro and give it a shot on Spun's pub server. The mod is only 23mb if I recall correctly, and is quite easy to install. Who knows maybe you will like the mod and choose to play in CAL next season. Competition is alot of fun and alot more rewarding IMO than pubbing ever could be.

Well... Name me your best pubber (infantry/chopper/tank/whatever). I'll check if they're better than CAL players.

From my personal experience, having whored choppers for quite a long time, I've seen very few people that were really good at gunning/flying. Most of them were in TWL and a few in CAL. (note that most CAL folks don't pub).

I can't remember a single good pub-only chopper player I've faced.
I cannot say the same for other roles in game, but I expect it to be something like that.

Yes, this season CAL there has been a few people caught with hacks but I can hardly pub anymore without seeing people getting A LOT of questionable kills.

The last two nights I've fraps two different people using atleast an aimbot.

Cool man, new blood is always welcome. 2142 sure as hell isn't fit for competition right now, so the more teams we bring into 8v8 competition for BF2 the better.

Oh and thanks, playing HOT is always an experience.

Great post Predator. Busting some myths and clearing some things up. Most of what youve told is really common sense, but it really wont hurt to underline it for the ignorant ones. But really, the "play to win" phylosophy competitive players use, will leave a negative mark on their record forever :P

As an ex-clanner who had many a clan scrims, I can truly say that "play to win" tactics and phylosophy ensure the everlasting improvement and through that, the enjoyement from victory. I can also say conform from my own experience that clanners go to pubs to chill out. Theres great ways to have a rough, tough and adrenaline packed perfect team effort kind of game, and theres the fragging session. The fact that the phylosophy of "play to win" gets carried on to the fragging time annoys people who limit their gameplay.


My only problem with clan people is their arrogance. The good thing is that I put most of them (in air) quickly to shame, so I treat those kind of people with the same attitude they treat me. The worst problem is, however the way clanners and competitive league playes think that pubbing is for kids and they are the "big dogs". That is pretty much pathetic, and in forums, is the last nail in the coffin in competitive players reputation.

Its a nice try to raise some positivity, but the effort is mainly a waste. Look at how long are people trying to get rid of racism :P

Hmmm see ive always had one big problem with CAL and that is its north american based. When i see an artical that says such & such a person is the world champion in bf2 because they won somthing in CAL it honestly does my nut in. How can you have the gaul to crown someone a world champion when your only playing a small number of players from one continent. What about the rest of the world do we not count are north americans so vastly superior to the rest of us that we shouldnt get a look in.

Thanks for the informative post Predator, my clan currently plays in TWL and we have met a lot of friendly clans.
CAL seems to have a reputation for not being as friendly, but I will try BF2 pro and see what the pub server is all about.
Match play is fun and exciting . If BF2 pubs are getting a little stale, I would encourage players to try clan/match play.
