For those who don't want to download BF2Pro, you're more than welcome to get see how competition games are played by joining us in the X-Fire event scheduled today. Normally, the Battlefield pick-up games are played in 2 formats, usually, one round us (HOT members) versus participants and in the second round, we mix up the teams. In my opinion, the X-fire event is a very good introduction to those who have never played BF2 competitively and who knows, you might decide to join CAL or TWL instead of just pubbing. Hope to see you guys there!

Here's the detailed info :

Xfire has announced the launch of another great event in partnership with Logitech. Players are invited to play with and against some of the top professional teams from the battlefield series. These teams include Team HOT, 20id, cRucial and neXgen.

Relive your glorious gaming past in classic games such as BF:1942, BF:V and BF:2. Also, face off on the brand spanking new fields of BF:2142. So make sure your unlocks are ready to go as you will be facing off against the best!

Before the event, we will also be participating in a "Meet and Greet" for Battlefield 2142. To sign up for this event, send an email to logitech@xfire.com. Xfire will email you special instructions you'll need to know for the event!

Everytime i think "Clan" or "CAL" or "Competition" all i can think of is exploiting the game for all it's worth. It seems to be totally rule-less so that players can do pretty much what they want to win.

Tell me a competition besides this one that basically doesn't have rules. In football (soccer) just becuase you can dive and get a free kick doesn't mean it's fair becuase the other team can do it if they wish too. Same for game exploits in just about every game i've ever tried to play competitivly. I don't understand why it's fair game to exploit and be a **** in general instead of just trying to play the game normally

Well im pretty sure they have rules they have to stick by. I remember back before 1.3 i think when squad hopping was allow it was a big deal. Some teams would use it, and some would not. And that would make all the difference on winning the match.

I play on public servers (ranked), so I guess that makes me a pubber, I did however play w/ =P= (Team Precision) in Cal 8v8 open, & 12v12 open 1 season (I was the designated tanker in 12v12 matches) to satisfy my curiosity

We had regular scrims w/ other clans for practice (unranked), & met in a strategy board server

We had a winning season, & I was a strong scorer for my team

1 team we faced completely outclassed us (they were some team that came back down from CAL main), 1 team was complete noobs that disconnected, & the rest were "above average" for pubbers imvho

The team that trashed us did what I could only describe as "acrobatics", I don't consider their tactics lame, I feel they were very talented, & they did what they had to do to win

I have faced off w/ BLacK_JeSuS, Baby Spinach, & Bush Viper, & while not getting the best of them, I did make kills on them, against a clan that "came down" from the main we got our "keesters" handed to us for hats

I will be honest, judging from what I have seen, I would not really "look forward" to "facing off" w/ any cal main players

There is a huge difference between the two. Soccer is a game with refs. Computer games have to refs. Computer games are completely different in almost every way. Computer games are suppose to be designed were it is impossible to cheat (that is why punkbuster exists). There are deffinative rules against exploiting in CAL. Is BHing an exploit? No, it is not. CAL teams do whatever they can legally do to win, you are right about that. If you don't like it when people play the game in the most effective way that it is fine and I respect you opinion.

That was true but you probably do not understand why. That change that I am sure had little effect on you guys had a HUGE effect on CAL- it made everyones strats almost completely useless. Teams who had worked on strats for many months suddenly found all of their practice go right out the window. That was the main reason CAL players were against it. Not all of the players were against it, either. I remember 20id was prehaps the patch's biggest supporter.

Care to explain why? The weapons are tweaked very little, just to increase the accuracy slightly to reward skill more than luck.

We'll I haven't played CAL so I don't have the experience in it only thing I do is TWL with my clan otherwise to me sounds like CAL is a little like hack central.

Why? CAL does a much better job of catching cheaters than does TWL. When Gifted got caught TWL said nothing even though he was playing in TWL. CAL just released a new anti cheat client today that is suppose to be far better than punkbuster. FYI, MiQ and Gifted played in TWL too.

I've been a bit bored with pubbing for a while now (too easy),and started to look into playing either CAL or TWL, but when I saw the default match times I gave up. The default scheduling times are always right in the middle of my classes since I have mostly evening/night courses. Was wondering before but never found out, are the matches actually always played at those times or are they often rescheduled?

Yeah TWL isnt that good in getting rid of cheaters & exploiters. I know this from firsthand experience.

I downloaded the promod and I have to say it is really annoying when everyone is jumping when you try to kill them.
