any shot taken where you can't really see your target is nice to get. I dunno what some of your computers can do for vision but I think I see fog at 150-200m. I don't measure distance or haven't yet. I play on Ghost Town mostly and when I can pluck opponents on pretty much the opposite side of the map, I think I'm doing pretty good.

The popular vanilla city maps have fog at 150 meters. All other maps (vanilla) have them at different distances. I know DV has it on 450 for example and Dalian has it on 550.

Thats pretty much impossible seeing as the fog on this map starts at 150 meters. Max view on this map could be 200 meters, maybe, if you shoot on soldiers outlined on the TV tower helipad. Allthough my furthest shot on this particular map was 178 meters as mentioned in the above situation.

It was from the Surveillance Site to the TV Tower.It's a good thing I guessed. I've never actually used my squad leader privaledges to measure distance; since I usually have orders for my squad on the go.

You dont know me so dont assume anything about my gameplay. And some stuff you only have to measure once and write down.

And I just checked Sharqi. The distance from TV station top of of building to Surveillance is over 200 meters and well within the fog. The Construction site and the buildings across the road take away much of the view anyway.

In other words your shot cannot be made in normal circumstances.

Think my best shot was sniping a guy out of his FAV while he was camping at the beach at Reactor Towers (Dalian plant).

I was on the carrier with my little friend M95, was on the F35 spawn. Just looking around and i saw the silhouette if a FAV. Didnt see the gunner, but I aimed, took a shot. 1st time, it didnt hit, because of the bulletdrop on that distance. 2nd time he died, I aimed the crosshair nearly a centimeter about his head I think.

Don't know the exact distance, but it's more than 450 meters, because you can't hit the AA on the carrier with your tv-guided from Reactor.

Dairuka where do you play usually? I see you live in Canada, so there are not too many servers where we could play both and have at least a decent gameplay but there may be some. I recon you have been playing sniper quite a lot latelly and I got the picture that ur good. It could be nice to try co-operative sniping with you. Two good snipers will wipe floor with any averege or less squad encountered. Have you tried those Norwegian servers? TV2, Battlefield2.no or Battlefield.no? Also some English servers may work for me? Wanny try some night?

Yeah I notice you to be my countryman, but it's polite and I guess mandatory limitation to use English in these forums, and yes I ment you.

What is your in-game name, I could seek you sometime if you want to play with me. Co-operative or againts me, what ever you wish :)

My in-game name is same as here. I play quite regularily in Norwegian and Swedish servers, also on domestic but more seldomly.

Dairuka, I have not tried any US or North American servers and I guess the ping is too high for me, but I will try it. I'm not expecting success, but "No pain, no gain".

my best shot was in wake as chinese when i was defending airbase on the hills and suddenly a f35b flying straight at me. i know he spotted me becuse i saw their uav over.. when he was like 50-100 metres away.. BANG!

dead... but the f35b continued to fly and it crashed on me..

i think my record was (not sure exact distance) but it was from top of hotel in oman to the airfield and also from hotel to one of hte beach bases

Mine is 457 from a boat way out from the ship on Wake to the tank spot in North Village. One shot. So satisfying because it takes a second for the kill to pop up.

Maybe we'll get lucky and find a U.K. server that has good pings for us both.

I don't claim to be brillant ('cos I'm not) - so I use sniper kits to try and get my kill/death ration back to evens (I never sussed the flying thing, so staying ahead seems pretty hard). And besides, as a sniper you can play a thinking game rather than get owned by people who are quicker than you in a chaotic gun battle (that's most of 'em). Anyway, there's nothing more satisfying than:

1) Shooting the door gunner out of a moving heli, or
2) Lying still in the undergrowth waiting for your shot when one of the enemy crawls past you not knowing you are there (within a meter or so) and you get to whip out the knife and take him out quietly.
3) Picking off the idiots hanging out on cranes, water towers, chimney stacks etc. Where's the first place you look when trying to take down the enemy snipers?

Shots from the Oman hotel to the beach restaurants are easy enough - but my suggestion is don't bother, everyone's looking up there. Leave a well placed claymore at the hole in the wall and hustle to the forward slope of the embankment facing the USMC bases. You don't have a silhouette, they won't look for you there and there are shrubs to hide in, so you can let attackers who get too close go right past you and into your mine.

How about this weekend (Friday or Saturday) is it ok for you Dairuka. We have some time difference, 5-7 hours, so it requires some planning. What time you usually play? I have two kids so it limits my available gaming time somewhere around 21-04 local time ( ~14-21 for you, depending on your time zone). I'll try to seek suitable British servers tonight, you do the same, maybe we got a match. Anyhow I'll list my positive findings tomorrow (or maybe Friday, depending on how long does my business trip tomorrow take). Does this sound OK for you?

There is program called Xfire, I'm not sure how does it work but I guess it's some kind of VoIP program. Is it familiar to you? I have installed it but never used it. BF2 In game VoIP sucks big time and some communication method, would be nice. Skype works but it uses lots of recourses and if our ping is already an issue, then Skype may not be a good choice. Any other suggestions?

That slope/hill position is probably one of the best sniping spots in the game [ht].ken.

If you move back from that position towards the treeline there is a nice spot in the curb of the road. Its a dent next to the road opposite of the small pagode and it gives an excellent view of Vista Point CP. Been my favorite position for a long while (playing Oman and Dalian these days). The spot is so good that you can only be hit by direct Artillery fire hit and never be killed by a dropped vehicle.
