thanks again Chris, I'll be ready to read the update when you have finished it... I suppose the biggest problem on pubs is a lack of communication. I can follow my teammate around, take a +150 height 100m behind formation and pick off anyone pestering him but without a little organisation we are still 2 individuals flying our own plan.

By your standards I think I fall in the 'bomber' category so me being wingman to someone else isnt really my strongpoint but Im a team player and if theres anything i can do to strenghthen our teams dominance then Im willing to try.

I should remonstrate with you about stereotyping but the truth is there, what is it about the VOIP? I play US late nights as most EU servers are half empty after midnight GMT and ive noticed that EU people rarely speak, in squads or as commander, but the yanks are frequently yaking away in their squads about anything and everything....true they seem to have a great deal of immature toerags but I want a good squad experience then its over the pond I go.

Mad Ad, you shouldnt put too much pressure to flying in formation. Its usually a waste of attention and focus. Just make sure your wingman knows the emergency code of help and engagement and react as soon as you hear him call for help. If you yourself have engaged the enemy, you can call for help aswell, and bind it with spotting the enemy. Theres no 100% straight method. And as for generalizing, there was a piece of humour attached to comparing EU and USA players :P

The most important thing for a pilot would be to master the flyby view.

I would love to use this in a practical form...but considering my experiences with jets would be...

                        A. Waiting a minute for BF to load.
                        B. 5 seconds to connect to account server.
                        C. 10 minutes to find a suitable server/map.
                        D. 1 minute to load, 1 minute VCD.
                        E. Doo doo doo, free jet, oh, whats this...an enemy?(loud explosion, death)
                        F. 4 Purple Hearts later I either leave the server or get kicked for language.

I would love to get better at jets...but considering the fact that every one and their brother are point whores(I hardly ever see planes do what they're supposed to) it's hard to even get in a jet. And I'm glad people let you up if you ask nicely, never happens, and it's a waste of time to ask. I mean, I join a server...a perfectly good Su-34 is sitting on the runway waiting for me...and boom! Some douche bag is strafing the runway with MG and bombs. Only to see his douche bag friend come behind him. This would be a great report for someone like me...but those of us who need it are being kept on the ground by others who don't feel the need to progress.

edit: Not to sound too negative...I loved your post. Very informative. Keep it coming. Read it earlier and went to "practice", had the smarts to leave before my FIRST purple heart of the round.

Join the right servers , or apply as an admin for some servers in a community, then you can kick suck douche bags, if the policy of your community allows it.

Yes, but here is the predicament...I am all for baseraping...at the right times. I hate server rules...I think it should be all's fair game. I DON'T think you should hop in a jet and strafe the runway every 15 seconds. The point is, where does morality end and selfishness begin with video games? If it's all fair, they should be allowed to rape...but to make it fair...we should be able to get her up off the ground? Quite the conundrum.

It would just be nice to practice without the J-10 whore who thinks he's good raping the carrier...or the F-35 team that love them some points. I dunno...I'll stick to choppers.

Dont be so hard on yourself nor the fellow gamers. Try sticking to the servers that do not allow baseraping, servers with some fame and experience behind their names tend to have regular players and as such, ******* level is lower than usually. And belive me, take my word for it, there are PLENTY of pilots who will give you the green lights to take off if you ask them nicely. Trust me on this one. You shouldnt be provocative, nor be a jerk. Just ask them for a chance to give them a good fight.

yeah exactly, sugar is nicer than spice- more people will respond if you ask nicely than get all bent out of shape.

Try and go for the bombers to begin, with 2 seats youve more of a chance to get a ride, plus more chance to get a fly if you can stick to your pilot for a few respawns, itll get quiet and you can ask then if you need to - its just when there are 2+ people waiting that it gets hard as no matter how kind we feel that day, someone else will just steal it.
