I think all this hearsay about having a purple heart in BF2 means u suck or that it is not a medal to have is WRONG!

Having a purple heart means that you are not quitter,just like the real one. Even when peeps were base raping an uncappable with a pair of J10's, dropping arty, cartillery and blocking with supplies I still hung in there and stuck my chest out when the game gave me a purple heart.

And I am willing to bet that these people that claim to be "stat gods" proclaiming that they are so good and never got a purple heart have exited a game knowing they were comming close to a 5/20 kill death ratio.

I agree with you man. I don't have one, but I don't look down on people who do. I'm sure there are BF2 players out there that arn't very good and get the award, but there are plenty of others (like yourself) who've stuck it out when your team was getting destroyed. It all comes down to the fact that it's a game and, although the stat system is a nice addition, it clearly has it's drawbacks because of people like KMT who think they are God's gift to BF2 and look down upon other people who have poor stats/awards.

I always say that a player who has poor stats but plays to have fun is a better gamer than a stat whore.

I always figured that the majority of purple heart owners purposefully sacrificed a round to get it. If someone accidentally receives it, odds are he was having a really bad game.

Still, I applaud your attitude: I'd be throwing chairs and having a fit... :)

everybody has a ****ty round, and sticking with it in a VIDEO GAME doesnt mean you should be proud, but that being said, nobody should say that you suck because you got one

I got a few when i first started but i was relatively new to the whole fps thing but have improved now and aint got one in absolutely ages

Getting the purple heart just added to my frustration at a crappy performance by me and my team during the round. In fact, when I start out crappy, I tell myself that I am not gonna get 2 purple hearts and I don't.

Purple hearts are not something to be proud of. In fact, they are worse in this game then they are in real life. I think that you should get purple hearts for dying while capping a flag or something like that, because it's stupid to get one just for sucking.

The way I see it that having a Purple Heart = you fail at the game. Having a kill death ratio of 1:4 is horrible.

having one means u try like yesterday i was taking out the enemy arty and they killed me so many times but i tied up therre armor and they didnt have artillary thats what counts. i can say i am proud of my purple heart. and i hope all of u dont think the same of the game as in the men who fought and really got it.

I actually worked to get my Purple Heart. It's not that easy to get a 5/20 K/D ratio in a game while being alive.
