Re: Proud of my Purple Heart!

I enjoy playing to get/have awards. Every time I looked at my medal rack, the empty spot just didn/t feel right. So, I tried to get the purple heart. It is not as easy as it sounds. It took me a couple of rounds running around, just to get killed 20 times. So in conlusion, if you earned as I have be proud, but if you feel you got it by not giving up... well then you just got pwned my friend.

Having a purple heart means that you are not quitter, just like the real one. Even when peeps were base raping an uncappable with a pair of J10's, dropping arty, cartillery and blocking with supplies I still hung in there and stuck my chest out when the game gave me a purple heart.

And I am willing to bet that these people that claim to be "stat gods" proclaiming that they are so good and never got a purple heart have exited a game knowing they were comming close to a 5/20 kill death ratio.

exactly how I feel about this badge, I guess other people care about stats too much

Totally agree, I have 2 of them once when I was very new to the game and one a month or so ago when I had more than a few ales and bourbons behind me. Mad as a hatter when I got it the 2nd time in game because this one mf was just camping the crap out of me and my brain was to slow to figure out what to do...

I have also been on awful or one sided teams before and basically locked down to an uncappable from the start of the game where it was spawn and die, spawn and die and been close to getting it so I can understand how easy it can be to get on occassion as well.

I usually don't bag on these forums but I have to laugh at those who are saying "You suck" if you get one etc, etc you are amusing I'll give you that.

I like getting the medal. When I first started playing, that was probably the first medal I got. Dying? That's one thing I can accomplish.

I got my purple heart on new years day, all because i was a total noob medic back then and kept reviving people in huge firefights without shooting at anyone.

Re: Proud of my Purple Heart!

I just got my first medal a few weeks ago. Besides the gold, bronze, silver medals.

Combat Infantry medal I think its called. I didnt even get a purple heart on my n00b account that I used to learn the game. And I had never even played a BF game before that so I was a total noob to all the vehicles and the game in general.

You either have to be really horrible at the game to get the purple heart or just have a very VERY unlucky round.

I more prefer to think of it as- a reward for mindlessly getting killed the same way over and over by mindlessly doing the same thing over and over...

I came sooo close to getting this badge a few weeks back. Had been out on a 2 night bender with friends and by the time i got home sunday arvo i still hadnt slept. So i thought screw it i'll play some BF2 for a while, well in my state i was sucking it up pretty hard and with a few tickets to go id managed to go 19 and 5 :p then thought WOOO im gonna finally get my purple heart legitimately and then the round ended

I decided to go to bed after that :)

I never trust stats that don't involve a purple heart for this very reason. I have one and I've gotten maybe 10+ over my BF2 playing time. It's definitely related to the servers you play on and what is allowed/not allowed. For example, on base raping servers it will occur with more frequency when such happens. Many people just leave when getting raped though. I like the challenge and enjoy trying to figure out how to break out of it. People without purple hearts are either quitters or purposely avoiding it. LOL, that should start the flames from all the "pretty boys".

I wish stats kept an overall count of purple hearts. I'd love to know how many I've really gotten exactly.

I racked up more than one PH as a medic, but did not care since my teammates lived to kick my killers butts, and my team won the rounds! I dont care about stats, my KDR is horrible, and I play to have fun....not to see how high I can jack up my own personal numbers!

Re: Proud of my Purple Heart!

I got mine after being shot at spawn 10 times in a row by some camping t**t...

tbh - it doesn't bother me. I'd rather get one in-game and talk about it here, than receive a real one and have six of my comrades carrying my coffin out of a C-130 Hercules.

In my mind, the only people who boast about not having it are spotty 13 year old kids who believe that their BF2 honours actually mean something to the outside world.
