I tried using my joystick once and it was so hard, seemed like Id never get used to it so I decided to go back to mouse and keyboard, its really not hard for me to fly with m and k and its fun plus when you own someone you know you owned them with mouse and keyboard, I had a dogfight with some guy long ago, we both had j10s, he got me after a long chase and I said "good stuff but I use mouse and keyboard"

he said "damn nice flying"

he told me he was using the x52 joystick

well let me put it this way

if I knew how to use the machine gun I would have no problems, I can already stay alive ling enough and I can dodge jets pretty well plus I can bomb

I dont think a joystick would help me improve my machine gun skills so I wanna stick with mouse and keyboard, that way I only have to work on machine gun but if I swiched to joystick id have to work on everything

Just learn how far to lead at target at whatever distance you are away from it then. I mean theres really no tricks anyone could teach you to the machine guns besides that.

It has a pretty nasty drop when you are far away behind a jet and it gets extreme when your turning so usually unless you get the nose of your plane a good ways ahead of where hes fly you might aswell save your ammo. If you get in nice and close though and he starts to fly straight just put the sights right on him and light him up. I usually aim a little high no matter what just to make sure but every now and then I go a little too high and he sees the tracers going over the cockpit. Its better to miss low than fire over the top I would say. They usually turn on me if I miss over the top but rarely when I miss them firing too low.

yea once they start moving too much its hard to keep up with them, i can follow them i mean but I cant hitem, Ill work with my sensitivity and Ill try to post a lil video here

All I can say, is that I switched to high sensitivity, and the machine gun got really hard for me to get used to..

IMO don't start high if you aren't experienced enough.


Don't look at the reticule, look at the cannon tracers and lead the target.. the only time you don't lead, obviously, is when it's not moving... like an AA or something.

You still have to adjust for your forward movement.

I remember when I was still learning to use the MG. My first infantry kill was on a guy running away from the Airfield on Oman, and my jet kill was on a guy named Iraqi Fire who I havent seen since 1.2.

Using the MG against enemy jets can be difficult in the beginnning. You will often find that you cannot take them all the way down to fire, and instead only to white smoke. Then you will only be able to take them to black smoke. Then you will finally blow up your first plane.

A tip: REMAIN STEADY.

And JS is harder to use in the beginning, but is much better in the long run.

For fighting Jets- When the jet your fighting is in a turn, Shot at where he is going to go and not where he is at.
For Chopters- Just follow them from behind and go stright at them and hope they blow up, before you hit them. Or just go up before a crush happens
For Cars- Same as Chopters

When the jet is in a turn, I find not firing at all is better than firing and missing, or letting him know where you are. The machine gun has such a ****ty hitbox that it will NOT register in a turn unless you have lik a ping of 3.

Which is why when you see me trying to kill a jet with cannons, the only reason I wait till they are going straight, isn't cause I can't hit them, it's cause it won't register.. even though I see smoke puffs coming off the jet when it's getting pinged.



If you are going to attack an attack chopper, if he is sitting still, come at him from the 3:00 or 9:00.... and aim for the cockpit... he will be down pretty much as soon as the first bullet hits cause it goes through the cockpit.


If it is flying full speed, position yourself so you will be coming up from his 4:00-5:00 (7:00-8:00), lead the chopper so you will hit the cockpit.

Listen to Blades and Metallica on this one. It may be somewhat difficult to adjust to a joystick but after a few days you will be a far superior pilot. The throttle control alone helped me out dramatically as well as the programmable views for dogfighting. You have the same joystick as I do. Try programming your views into the buttons on your thumbstick. Constantly switching will dramatically increase your situtational awareness and don't be afraid to spam enemy spotted commands to find targets.

Also, though the missiles have a hard time hitting enemy J10's there are ways to increase your chance of a hit. Blades has posted videos which illustrate good technique. Metallica has also posted very useful video clips. Not sure of the links off hand, maybe check the media forum. After watching them my missile hit % went up from ~20% to 75%.

Also, your opposition must be kind of retarded if they can't shoot you down. Most of the servers I play on require a joystick to be competitive. I can't imagine getting away from the J10's without a joystick.

AHaha nice one.

Although I never considered you a J10 whore because you redeemed yourself in a lot of other ways. Like that time where you landed it on the carrier, and gave it to me to give USMC a fighting chance.

You are one of the best chopper pilots I have played with. Mi28 on Oman FTW! That was an awesome round.
