Only the default (TGN Light) theme for now. Dark them is also coming back soon. Then CSN. Then Wrestlin' Nation. A lot of WIP stuff right now. There are a couple of things still not working either. Sorry.
I wasnt around at that time so can someone tell me what it was like, were jets and attack choppers popular back then or did everyone rush to the BH as soon as they spawned
were the other transport choppers that powerfull or was it only the BH?
though the splash itself wasn't as severe (not as powerful)
you could hit the sidewalk next to the guy and hurt him.
also - the bullets didn't inherit the velocity of the bh - so it was point and click.
In todays BH - most bh raping whiners don't realize that you have to lead the target not where the target is running - but where the target is running IN RELATION to the helo's vector and speed.
it made songura stalemate playable :) and only the bh was decent, the others stunk then as they do now.....but the guns needed fixing (though as usual they overdid it), and having a full one cap a flag in .2 seconds was a bit unrealistic, not to mention what a couple engys in the back could do...
i thought they should've made some minor tweaks (include inherited velocities so its harder to hit things) but also made the mi-17's guns a bit more useful to counter.
To have a Support Pilot, Support and Medic gunner (OR two medic gunners) plus 4 engineers in the back wrenching away made it a awesome war machine.
The only thing to do was to satchel C4 on the reb transport and ram the BH. But you had to be sneaky, a good pilot combined with a decent gunner can hold the mec chopper at arms length.
As the enemy to hear the Blackhawk coming was to get everything that is availible to fire on it. As a teammate the BH over your head was an angel.
To kill a Blackhawk and get the credits for all of the enemy deaths (And possibly the big TK/Ban against the hated pilot) is the very top of the BF2 experience. For example, if you snuck up behind the black hawk in the MEC chopper and hit it under the exhaust and then pushed up and over it tipping it upside down to crash... a very good chance of the enemy BH pilot getting 6 TK's against him and thus a game-winning ban.
They nerfted it a long time ago. And it was a killing machine in the hands of a good pilot.
The gunners had a sort of a matrix.. snipers, vodniks and then all others. Working over from the rooftop down kept the pilot safe.
In other maps like Oman, to swoop down and cap a flag took maybe 2 seconds. The enginners could even survive the C4 on the flag pole as long as the pilot aimed at it.
As a pilot, many a score that was awesome. As an engineer the Veterans Engineer badge was no problem at all. Expert probably would be no problem had they not patched it out.
You had a pilot either be medic or support, then either medic gunners or 1 support and 1 medic and 2-3 engineers with everyone whoring points like mad because the medics would get heal points, the support guy would get ammo points THEN you get special ability assists with everyone chucking nades and mines and c4 along the way. With every kill everyone in the BH got the driver kill assist and the special ability assist etc etc...my best round was flying as support, squad leader in the "blackhawk squad" got 225 points 0 kills and 0 deaths .
I MISS the old times. It made it to where when you heard the blackhawk you RAN for cover instead of not worrying about it like it was some fly in the sky it is now :hmm: .
I recall the days!
Yes, what splender!
Oh, what rapturous joy!
Days where everyone made great haste
to jump into a single Blackhawk with utmost pace.
People went out of their way to be an Engineer
with all thought of no fear!
for every seat, there were points to be made
And our blackhearts we layed down spades.
For with those days of yesteryear,
a bird of the night
could not be brought down in any fight.
And with such splender do I speak,
every wrench was at its peak.
No plane or AA nest,
could bring down a hawk at its best.
Haste'n quick,
ratched that up that damage up quick!
You there with that cross!
Mend the wounds from the SRAW.
Everlast our grace and glory,
they look at among us and call out whore'y!
Basically, you had to get in the chopper otherwise you had no chance of capping a flag or gettin any kills.
The thing, with the right crew as pointed out above, was frigging invincible! it was a self-healing, self-rearming beast that could not be taken down. Nerfing it was the best step dice did to evening out the game somewhat - even though they did take things a bit too far.
If you were china on a map like songhua, it wasnt worth trying to take a flag, in fact it wasnt even worth spawning cos you'd be destroyed in no time.
They should have nerfed UP instead of making the BH the waste of a vehicle. Since the mec and pla choppers are absolute crap to begin with, they should have made it competitive with the bh, instead they nerfed down the bh so bad that most rounds it just sits there. I know with 1.4 they added armor to the tx choppers but I still haven't tried it out.

*sniff* such a lovely poem.:p
I remember playing Stalemate during the 1.2 patch and getting in a BH, trying to cap flags. APCs shooting at u, retarded Spec ops trying to throw C4 on its belly (of course I would just land and crush them). What patch did DICE tweak the BH's?
