I don't really think the game is dying. I just got it, it seems fine, but then again, I have not been playing for a long time and I don't know what long term changes have gone on.
I see over 1000 servers on my list, even more including the unranked. I guess it's all in how you set your filters. If Bf2 is dying, I sure hope the forum trolls follow suit immediately.
It's far from dieng out, all the servers that I always use are always full or close to it, Internode, Game Arena and Iconz.
Also to who ever saiud people who can Solo in the attack chopper are hackers, no they arent, I can do it easily, it isnt hard at all once you know what your doing. I would say It is probably easier than having a co-pilot who pisses the hell out of you because they cant shoot for ****.

I usually surf the server list and find its about 50/50, you know. It isnt hard to spot the cheaters. Four dead give aways are this. First theres that guy who can solo in the attack chopper and use all the weapons never misses a shot and never looses control of the chopper. Second are the ones who will run right up to you, drop on the ground, roll to the left and fire off 6 shots with thier rifle. Thats right always six shots that never miss. Third are the ones who never seem to need to use cover of any kind. Run right up the middle of the street and never die. Forth are the ones who seem to be able to see everyone on the battlefield. Even the ones beyound the visual range of the snipers rifle.
Pay attention next time you play and see if you dont spot at least one of these guys. Its not hard if you can count the number of shots they shoot (dont use your fingers for this).

1. It isn't hard to fire off the rockets, hop in the gun, squeeze off a few rounds, a quick TV missle and hop back in the pilot's seat. (Unless you really think someone's name is leetchoppadude [+1] :p J/K)
2. It's also not hard to run up, and dive while strafing. Most unlocked guns will kill someone in 10 hits or often less.
3. Maybe you should use cover too. CTRL is your friend. Trashcans and flowerpots are your friends. Grenades you should throw around corners.
4. UAV and Scan. Some people have higher-end graphics cards, too, and can see farther. Situational Awareness is something everyone should try and master.
Yesk, there are hackers and cheaters. No, I don't support them. Diving, taking cover, and using the UAV ans scan arn't considered cheating. Sometimes, you just need to tell them "Dang, good shot!" instead of "zomghax!"
BF2 is far from dieing. I always see at least 500+ servers before I click 'Stop Update' since I don't want to be searching for a good server out of 5000.
