The more commander time/points, the more likely the combat score inflates the difference in the Global score.
I could be wrong, but this is my take on the scoring

What's inflated is the commander score, not the combat score, the combat score seems inflated because they don't have an arty catagory, this is supported by the many ppl that are never commander that scores do add up

As a matter of fact you can deduct all your accounted for kills from your total kills to determine how many arty kills you have

The average team score x2 - team kill formula is for the score of that round only, determining who gets gold, silver, & bronze, but your actual performance arty kills, & personal kills add to your combat score, & revive, heal, repair etc, add to your team score, thats why your team points all ways add up to the number of team work you have done

All these theories are great, but still nothing that isproven over a set period of time. If you want to do a randomized trial enlist 20 people over a range of ranks, and have them record their scores over a 1 week period, add all the data to a spreadsheet and the crunch the numbers..... Once all the dust settles see if you can come up with a formula that works for all 20 members of the study.

My bet is there is a game glitch and a perfect formula will not be found. I will be willing to participate in the study to help prove this matter once and for all if some mathamatician would like to crunch the numbers!!!

I think you may be right.
          Look at this one:

It doesn't add up (and he wasn't a commander at all).

This sounds like a good idea but we could not just use the data obtained at a site such as bf2s.com...we need more information including commander scoring since that seems to be a source of any discrepancy. As such, we would need info not reported anywhere such as artillery kills, kills and team points while playing commander, etc. This would be almost impossible to obtain accurately without the strictest of control. Ideally, we need to get some people to start new accounts and keep track of everything they do in terms of score. I can crunch any numbers you throw at me using a variety of techniques so if there are any volunteers who are willing to collect, now is the time.

It is true that there is a descrepancy, but it is only 10 points, the closest to making sense that I have ever seen, maybe the 10 extra points over what it seems it should be is the glitch

like i said, go to bf2s, click on ranks and go to the last page to see all the noobs with just over 100 points. Start with those without commander time and you will see there are issues with scoring. Sometimes the kit total kills don't match vehicle+weapons. The combat scores +team scores don't equal global scores. TKS/Damage, Suicide/etc (-4, -2, -1) sometimes looks like they are applied, sometimes don't.

Then start looking at players with commander scores and it gets even more confusing.

I am saying all of the scores are distorted with commander time being the biggest contributor. I assume the end of round score is reported is what shows up in your commander points total. (The last round I commanded matched the score showing in BF2S). However, your combat score and team score gets warped if you kill (regardless of arty, weapon or vehicle), cap flags, revive, heal, supply, destroy assets, repair, etc.

All kills while commanding whether Arty, weapons or vehicles show up in the kill total, which shows up as combat score. However, those kills don't score points otherwise, your global score would be double counting points for kills and commander score. Same thing applies to team score. You will have stats for all team points which then calculates a team score, but isn't double counted with the commander score.

If you don't believe me, command for a night (and kill using weapons and vehicles) and then look at your scores. You will have a combat score (for ALL kills) and some team score (if you are reviving, supplying or fixing stuff) when all you should be showing is commander points and global score.

Look at the kill total. It shows 247. Look at vehicle kills, road kills and weapon kills, they add up to 300. He has 27 TKs, 10 damage, 16 vehicle damage and 19 suicides (with no effect on score). Team points add up to 238 vs. 223. What makes sense with any of this? Do you see a pattern or forumula that can come up with any of this?

I don't claim to know it all, but I think the biggest discrepancies are in the commander scoring, not the combat scoring, & that it doen't appear that way to most because arty kills do count, but are not shown

I believe that commander time is scored normally for your global score, & that your "raw" (IAR) commander score adds up to your commander score
