Theres no reason to really share much with you. All the info is out there if your interested.

I would spend more time giving answers to someone who didnt seem as insulting as you. I am sure you can undestand that.

Why are you guessing anything? lol

Re: Old School DC vids in anticipation of the first release of Desert Conflict..

The bottom line is this: The guys who made Desert Combat got it right. Balance, dynamics, guns, maps, game-modes...the works. They just got it in a way that no other game ever has.

While BF2 is an interesting spin on it, Desert Combat still remains my favorite. There's just too much nonsense going on in BF2.

Then Desert Conflict comes along, dedicated to recreate the Desert Combat "feel" with a heavy emphasis on dynamics, game-modes and maps - which in turn means new models, statics, sounds etc. etc. All in all - nothing like BF2 at all.

As the very first they brought back CTF.

Anyone who is too shallow and superficial to look beyond the mere name of the mod (a rather fine name by any means) to discover what the mod is about, who is making it, why etc. is barely deserving of getting a totally free new game.

It's gameplay that makes a mod - not a name. The mod will bomb, regardless of it's name, if it doesn't deliver the goods. And who will begrudge a hardworking group of unpaid volunteers a little bit of attention for putting in more than a YEAR into this project anyway? How small can a person be to spew such jealousy and pettiness over a little bit of attention anyway? Attention does nothing for a mod-group before a release, except perhaps bolster the developers' spirits, make them try a little harder, give them some hope that it's all worth something.

Can anyone who here imagine what it must be like to make a mod that completely fails to capture an audience? Put in literally thousands of man-hours into something and then see it ignored? Surely, even the worst troglodytes out there are equipped with enough empathy to imagine what that must be like? So, a little attention, some encouragement, a bit of constructive (!!) critique and thumbs up doesn't take anything away from anyone - it's free..but it does help a modder to keep going.

Do you know anyone else in this world who will make you a new game for free?

The DCON crew - and any other mod-crew for that matter - deserves our respect and admiration. And if you can't manage to give that, then some friggin' politeness is the least you can do!

As for Desert Conflict, I'm one of those who look forward to getting that old "DC feel" again! Even now, with DCON CTF mini-mod, I'm halfway there!

Cheers - and keep up the good work fellas :-)

You make it sound like they got a little instruction book on how to remake DC and if it were that simple. I am not a modder, but I know its not the simple. You make it sound like anybody can just pick it up and do this.

The name is an issue, period. It always will be. Once again this is not the same team that did DC nor do they have anything to do with them.

I said it before and I will say it again. Let their work speak for itself.

Wow, way to totaly misread one of the best posts I have ever seen anybody write!! Your right, you dont know a single thing about modding. Lahlah was also obviously saying that it is not that easy to just pick it up and do this. Changing the feel of flight physics and game modes is no simple matter, Lahlah obviously understands things you dont

Read and think a little harder before responding, you couldnt have missed the point any more if you tried.

The name is not an issue, except to you and a few trolls who arent even in the mod scene, your just an observer with opinions about things you dont understand.

Notice you are the only one at this point mentioning the name?

No one has ever claimed, even slightly, that the DCON team has any of the DC team on it, ever!!!

You have said you are pretty sure you know what this our mod is all about. That it will have even less balance than bf2.

You dont know anything, except how to ramble. So letting our work speak for itself would be good advice for you to take.

Re: Old School DC vids in anticipation of the first release of Desert Conflict..

I dont think they are HaVOCK. You can disagree just as I can. I still think as do a LOT of people that what Dcon is doing is cheap and wrong. Change the name and let them stand on their work. Right now they are riding the coatails of another mod and it makes me sick.

Thats my opinion and you can disagree. But when I see posts talking about "ITS DC!!! OH MY GOSH!!! THEY ARE BACK!!! I CANT WAIT FOR DC2!!!" it really gets me because well... these guys are no more DC than USI. If ANYONE had a right to even think about using the name DC, it would be RC. But did they? NO! They changed their name and went with something else out of respect and because they did that they dont even get a single shread of the recognition that the D"con" team gets.

If I had to make a bet which mod will be better and more like DC, based on experience hands down RC would be the truest DC for BF2 because those guys did it before. They made DXC which used DC as a base and added their own stuff.

Let Dcons work stand on its own. Their release will be interesting.

Your insulting and presumptious Casper. Troybob is one of th original testers for DC, and got over the name thing a while ago. So why would it bother an outsider and observer of other peoples work like you and I ? Does it really bother you to see other people anticipate this mod? Does the mod team your on get pissed about it?

Its amusing how your rude as hell to these guys in a series of posts and threads. Then always saying "let there work speak for itslef"

I am sorry if I came off rude. Not nearly as rude as others where to me stating my opinion. People sure do get upset when you speak the truth.

When I say let the work speak for itself, I mean let them stand on their own merit. Not another teams. Once their release comes then they will.

We dont have to agree. I have my opinions and you have yours. Its what makes the world go round.

i disagree. at the very beginning the dcon site said that some ex-testers were involved in the project :p

anyways back on topic - does the Dcon team have any plans to make an out-take video (or any video for that matter) before release?

The DC tester thing must have happened before I joined the team, because I cant find any mention of that anywhere on our site. Not even in the oldest logs.

We have also shed many members of the dev team along the way, maybe for reasons such as this.

Casper has the right to whatever opinion he has about us, we are big boys and I promise you there wont be any tears. We cant wait to play some Desert Shield, Inshallah alley (one of my favorites) and the rest.

Clooney and our mapping team are crazy skilled, and I cant wait for you to see the Gazala we have right now, omg I love it.

Gaverty our video guru is working on a video right now that is bold and ambitious. I would call it more an epic display, and I cant wait to see it.

It will be available very close to our release itslef, which is right around the corner.
