thank you for backing me up guys. one time i was in this spot that i cant tell of in the road to jalalabad and i killed 12 peopl trying to get me in about 4 minutes then someone had some arty on me. but i mean i can get about 80-100 kills as a sniper in one round when sniping and commanding. I <3 commanding.

I think snipers are a great class, and a good sniper can help his team defending flags or making a great squad leader and rack up some mean stats, but the problem I have is why oh dear god why do people still go commander with anything other than engy? When your assets are destroyed you either have to call some engy back(who could otherwise be taking flags and helping you win) or you have to waste a/many crate(s) on repairing(crates that some squad might need to help you win the round).
Again, I like the sniper class and think they can be hella fun, but regardless of whatever you might say about getting 80-100 kills as a sniper/commander or being able to take down 13 people as they rush your base, IMO in the long run you are hurting your team, regardless of how many bases you protect or enemies you spot. As a commander why would I spot an enemy using my scope when I can do a better job with the scan??. Also, I have no problems with commanders multi-tasking and helping their team push forward, as long as they have the common sense to get back and protect/repair their assets.

I have always wondered this. What is everyones fascination with snipers? If I play sniper I go assault sniper, I don't run in and claymore spam (Unless theres five enemies running around the corner!) and I try to assist the team from the front lines. I find it boring as hell sitting up on a hill and getting 11 kills and a billion kill damage assists.

i like the sniper class okay, but only when im the one behind the scope. if im not playing as sniper i find it highly irritating. even if the sniper(s) are on my team. when the squad leaders are snipers just sitting somewhere where or the unassigned people are snipers also not doing anything beneficial to the team i just get pissed.

Spec-Ops is almost as bad except they can take out pesky armor and enemy assets. those two classes imo are counterproductive to teamwork.

o well i see all of your guys points, but im not a claymore spammer. in fact i dont even understand how they work. what i do is i get a good spot and then i sit there and scan and do all the things ur supposed to do and ill look to see if theres any movement, then scope the area out for about 10 secs, then go back and do whatever im doing while im behind cover away from view for about 2-3 minutes or whatever. i love being commander. not to brag but i think im farely good at it.

i can't stand claymore spamming. i hate it when people do that. i use claymores to a) cover my back - at the top of the ladder or a spread pattern behind me if i'm on the ground and b) to kill the guy thats stupid enough to chase me around the corner. i can't stand it when i turn a corner in an alley and i explode. most of my claymore kills come from people climbing up ladders to try and stick me. i just wish i could pick them back up to use them later on in the match.

i dont like it, but i admit its a good tactic, when i snipe from a good spot, die, then go back and there is a claymore right there. one time he did it twice in a row.

Claymores are snipers only asset while trying to cap some flag. The fact is; exposed sniper is dead sniper in close combat. That's why is use those when trying to get a spawn point. I close most likelly enemy approach entries and guard the ones giving me a chance to take out any bogey coming a bit further.

For Predator and others saying we are worthless, how can we be worthless if our K/D ratio is typiacally 10-15/1 and more than often we have most flag defended award? I mean snipers are usually the only defence there is, others are just running circle capping some flag while at the same time other team is capping the flag u just captured? How about if some time you just hide your arse to the ground and try defending your captured point. It's just as effective way to help ur team as running from flag to flag. :)

i agree ACE_FIN1972. The only problem with many Snipers is that there are a lot of crap snipers out there wasting oxygene and contributing nothing whatsoever to the team.

A newbie medic or support guy -even though he might get flattened all the time- sometimes manages to drop med kits, some ammo or even a successful revive...a crap sniper is a total waste of space effectively a team slot wasted.

I pay my respect though to some of the experienced snipers. There are some quite skilled guys out there making a big difference for the team.
Personally I'm crap with sniping...I just don't have the patience to lie there until somebody walks into my sight as well as lacking the skill to take him out with a proper headshot.

i think one way that i help the team the most is by taking out other snipers. that is my main goal when sniping because if they're dead they can't kill me or my teammates. to me there isn't anthing more satisfying than a headshot, especially when its on another sniper. whenever i hear "enemy sniper" in game i always check my map and look for them. i know there isn't much thats more annoying in game than a sniper shooting at you when you're out there running around, and i think i help with that a little at least.

One thing is guaranteed while playing sniper. Enemy really hates ur guts. This can be proved just by reading posts of this thread. They hate us most :laugh:.

Nothing is so annoying than getting head shot a second before capping flag. Every headshot makes me smile inside when I imagine the reaction behind the other screen. It's irritating I know, thats why it's so fun.

All of you saying we are worthless; Next time when u hear that "cling" sound and u are laying in the mist, waiting ur medic. Remembe to stay cool, because u just got killed by no good worthless sniper that is actually helping u, just by being a sniper in the other team. :p

I see a lot of praise for the M24 on here. Well to me it is just a pain in the ***. I get mostly one point damage assists, plus you have the nuisance of the reload, which is a real hindrance in close combat... I use the SVD when I can and it may take 3 quick shots but I get the kill. I enjoy the sniper class because of the 3 ways to kill... nades, clays, and rifle...but I only play it as MEC or Chinese because of the semi-auto rifles.

I have to admit I get a kick out of the same peeps running by my hidden clays in Karkand .. LOL... I got 75 points in one game that way...

thus far I have 46 hours as sniper .....411 kills with sniper rifle and a 26 % accuracy ratio.

I have stopped claymore spamming just because of the FF.

I still use them whenever I'm setting up a hide, on a roof top, or trying to cap a particularly exposed flag, but I don't leave them randomly around the flags anymore.

BUT, there are a few maps where you know the enemy will be coming up certain staircases (Karkand, etc.), and it is still pretty tempting to leave a little gift off to the side.

Follow me into a flag and your going to get a Claymore in the face. Follow me around a corner and Boom your dead. Climb a ladder to get to me when I'm sniping and you'll have to get a new helmet.

I think the 1.4 patch has helped out with Claymore spamming. Before I could place a Claymore, die and it still be there until I die agian. Now after I die, it only stay for a few minutes after I respawn.
