A good sniper can either be solo, or a team member.
If the team can do a bounding over watch while moving. when they set, the sniper moves to a good looking reach, then the team moves while he is posted in over watch.

Im new here, and to BF2, but have been a sniper most of my days. So I can only tell you what works in RL. Ill be looking forward to using these skills in BF2, for I will be a sniper only.

I only play sniper while i'm commanding. Like hidden sniper mentioned earlier. TBH, Sniper is the least teamwork orientated kit, (you cant revive, heal, provide ammo, cap flags) it can be a boring kit to use (some of you may say patience but in a 'game' i want action) and before you all go on about spotting enemies etc.. how many of you actually do that rather than taking the shot yourselves? and also, how many times a round d you save someones *** by spotting an enemy??? even if you're good? once, twice, three times if your lucky?? a medic can save someones *** ten times more than that in the space of 5 mins.

p.s this only refers to this game. In general i am very interested in the ways of snipers and have read alot about them. Especially the biography of the female soviet sniper that recoreded over 500 kills in her fighting days.

I think your wrong about sniper being worthless. Especially on Wake. I've capped many flag all by myself. And I'm not that good a player. You just have to think. You have claymores, grannades,your pistol and most of all stealth. And I think spotting is an important part of sniping. Afterall you are limited as to how many enemies you can deal with on your own. You might not supply, repair or revive but when done right you do contribute to your team.

first of all, snipers are not worthless. i bet u a million dollars that a sniper has saved ur life at LEAST 10 times. you may not know it but what if someone was aiming at you or spotted u and he took that person out. dont go and call other classes worthless just because u dont like them. i could say the same thing for engineers. they are pieces of garbage and never do anything except for heal my vehicle 2 bars and then die. but they arent. they ave saved many people, just like everyone else.
second, i play commander whenever i get the chance. i also ONLY play sniper so im almost always sniper/commander. i can get about 100 kills a round just from playing commander. 25% or more of that is from sniping. i dont understand why people who are assault class and command at the smae time. makes no sense. but there are stup[id people taht do that. commanders normally dont fight. or at least they arent supposed to. they are supposed to help protect the base and give orders as well as help out teh squads. which is perfect for me because i sit and wait in a well hidden spot and if i see someone trying to do something to my team, i kill them and then order some artillery. i LOVE playing commander. people look up to me in the game, and i know its just a game, but its a fun game and i lie palying it. and NO, im not a commputer nerd who sits here all day.

I rather be a Engy in CQC then a sniper, unless Im claymores chucking..Um...2 tanks each driven by engineers..pwn everyone on the Battlefiled accept a huge group of AT guys...so while your under a rock spotting me..Ill be driving side by side with another engy in a tank laughing about how Im almost indestructable.

So did you know after your assests are destroyed if your engineer all you have to do is hop in a vehicle and drive up next to them and fix them in less then 10 seconds? OHHHHH lemme guess your still dropping supplies on your assest so your tanks get screwed by you wasting a box and the spec ops that just blew up your assests can have more C4 to nuke your assests for a second time.

While being a sniper, there are lots of maps where one sniper can defend two or more flags. I constanly get 15-25 kills per round as a sniper. While playing defence, my K/D ratio is usually something like 20/2-5. I don't consider myself being worthless.

About sniper talk, last night was pretty good. On round on a 64 player of Road to Jalalabad K/D=25/0 + 7 defended flags + No. 1 of our winning team.

Also last night; I dropped 4 times the driver from moving jeep. 2 was moving sideways, 2 attacking direct against me. Made me feel like I could castrate flys with my rifle :laugh:

You might be able to stop a "lone wolf" trying to cap, but no amount of snipers on defense can stop even a small squad of medics capping flags.

I'm sorry but they can't.

Your claymores don’t gib therefore it's simply a matter of sending in (and reviving) a "meat shield" to remove them.

And no matter how well your aim is or how good of a position you have, they will simply be able to heal and revive each other much faster than you can kill/injure them.

Like I said, if you enjoy playing sniper it's all good, have fun.
But as far as helping your team along, it's the most worthless kit in the game.

Ok to sum it up...my defense to your "engineer is useless" as opposed to sniper in combat, and also a defense to why Engineer is best commander class.

1. One shotty blast to the face will destroy any sniper in CQC..the engy shotgun is a force to be respected. If you miss my head by sniping me from a distance Ill find a heal pack before you'll get that second shot 99% of the time.
If you do kill me, a medic will come along and revive me...Ill advanced even farther into your territory, closing the gap and closing the usefulness of a sniper. This limits you too claymore chucking and using them as offensive weapons..Ill have a medic with me, so meh, Im a meat sheild, but the flag is ours.

2. If you have more then one tank being driven by engineers next to each other...they constantly repair each others damage. So 2 tanks, engineers driving them both side by side...1 of the most powerful forces in the game. Only way to take them out is mutiple shots from AT guys.

3. Commander position as engineer. If assests are destroyed all a engineer commander has to do is jump into a jeep/vodnik/tank/etc.. and drive up to the destroyed assest. Without exiting vehicle the assest is repaired SUPER fast. So if you play sniper and become commander, how do you get repairs?
Do you rely on your team to do it?? Do you take away from dropping a supplie box for your tank and use it to fix an assest...which in turn delivers a C4 replenish to the spec ops that originaly destroyed the asset...
BTW an assest is UAV,SCAN,ARTY...
So engy >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>sniper.

They pwn much better in CQC, long range sniping is a joke when the game offers insta healing and revives, so rely all you want on claymores...but we will push and push until your squishyness meets a round of buckshot.
Engy is also best commander since you dont have to beg for repairs for your assets and fixing them your self takes seconds..as opposed to wasting Supply drops your team could use.

Seriously, the commander stuff is common BF2 knowledge. As well as the fact that the best for pwning a map is a Engy+Engy combo creating a caravan repairing each other in a matter of seconds...add in the supply drop a compotent commander will supply to friendly tanks and repairing is almost instant.

I played sniper exclusively when i first started playing Bf2..why? cause I couldnt deal with CQC tactics and vehicles..I felt safe sitting alone, hiding from the action. Sniper is a good introduction to the game if you havent matered the art of the hop and belly dance along with evasion manuvers around maps to avoid tanks and such.
But once you get use to the game, you get bored getting dmg assist and watching medics insta heal...then youll want to bury 20 rounds in there face and C4 a tank or 2.

ok then... what i was saying before was simply saying that snipers arent worthless. the way i said engineers are garbage was simply sarcasim. and u have ur opionion on what the best class is for commander and i have mine.
but to argue ur point just for fun, when you die, ur not always going to a have a medic by ur side. and there isnt only 1 sniper, and you and a medic. there are other things u have to consider. i mihght get a headhsot. a medic might come and try to revive and i might shoot him. its not as simple as i rush u lose. theres more to it. but u have ur opinion.

It is really powerful, but only does more damage to aircraft and vehicles. you can shoot through cockpit lass with this gun. but dont be fooled, this does no more damage to a person than any other bolt action rifle. it does hurt people with armor more, but people with armor, it does the same damage as the L96A1 and the M24.

You shoot a guy with the L96A1 or M24 its life half dmg right?
Maybe Im confused but Im used to shooting a guy with the M95 then one pistol shot to finish him off...can this be done with the L9 and M24 too?

Ok after reviewing the weapons chart it shows that the M95 does 190 dmg, the M24 and L9 do 95 dmg.
Now I think the total health for armored or unarmored is 200 right?
So basically a M95 will take that 200 to 2 bars, while the M24 and L9 will take it to little below half. right?

So basically 2 Sniper shots will kill with any of the 3, accept with the M95 you dont need a seocnd shot..all you need is a guy to run down the stairs to fast, be to close to a nade explosion, a pistol shot etc...minimal dmg will kill a soldier hit by a M95, while a L9/M24 hit soldier will still require much a second sniper shot or assualt rifle shot..

My thought was always L9/M24 for distance accuracy..M95 for extreme dmg countered by its lack of accuracy.
