Only a few of us left...

As the year has passed and the ranks have gone by more and more I notice Ive fallen into a very very small minority.

Every server I join every round I play I usually look to join the squad of fellow higher ranks such as myself, in no way saying lower ranks are worse just that I know I can put a little more faith in the fact that a 50K point person might know or play a little better then say a guy that just broke 10k.

But heres were I feel as if Im the last of a dieing few....I dont play Medic.

It seems as if every single person I encounter that is slightly lower, equal, much higher..all just play medic, In fact I honestly dont think ive ever met a Colonel or higher that wasnt a Medic. Just today i joined a squad full of 100K plus score players...it was me switching between SpecOps/Assualt/Support and the rest of my squad were Medics, needless to say my corpse was revived countless times by an orgy of paddles..yet it made me wonder.

Is there any ground pounders left that dont pack a 36E/AK101-Paddle/heal pack?
I wonder to myself too, what if I did the medic thing? With only 1700 revies and 400 heals in my 980 hours played..could I have scored tens of thousands more points if I did use these tools?

So is there any of us left? Is there any people in Bf2 that has crossed over that 100k point marker playing mainly a ground pounder that hasnt relied 90% of a Medic class? I know there is maybe some vehicle users that have, but Im asking people who go infantry a majority of the time...are you out there?

I'm not there yet, but I'm getting close (almost 90k). I played a lot of medic when I first started playing, but I'm trying to get all my expert combats so I have been playing all the other kits that are less than 100 hours. It's still my most played kit, but I've got plenty of time in with the other kits. I never fly jets and will fly the helo only if it's sitting there and nobody's using it...I don't wait around for it. I use armor occasionally but only to get my time up for veteran armor combat. I spend the vast majority of my time ground-pounding.

I play infantry more than I do vehicles, and I'm usually AT or Assault (my two favourite kits). I'll play medic if my squad needs one or if I pick one up while kit scavenging, but usually I'm the guy with the rocket launcher that's trying to take out the tank that the rest of the team is running away from. :p

        Add me to the list

I play medic, I play medic because of the guns. Ability to self-heal is great as well.

I don't spam medic bags, or revive like crazy, I mainly do combat.

When I play on the ground (I actually do alot, you would be surprised), I am normally a medic, support, spec-ops.... hell I play all the kits... but slightly more medic/support than the others.

When medic, I use the L85A1, and I don't go reviving everyone and spamming heals. I just follow/lead my squad. As support, I use a PKM/MG36 and just stay back (slightly closer with the MG36... spray n' pray) and snipe people, going for headshots. Any gun I use, I go for the headshot.

Re: Only a few of us left...

I'm about 1.2k from Captain, I will live and die playing Spec OPs. 353 hours as spec op. 57 hours as Assault, and 55 hours as Medic.

Maybe it's the lure of getting those extra points by just spaming health paks and revives. Me I don't care for medic....

              Heal 493
              Revive 610

I also like to run around a lot more then vehicles...

              Total time almost 660 hours

Of that time, 205 hours combined in all vehicles. That's about 1/3rd of the time. 59 of that in helo (almost all of it BH back in the good old days), 51 hours in transports.

With 1.4 I've moved to IO most of the time. I like the action, no spawning in front of a tank on Karkand and getting killed to then spawn some place else to get killed by an APC.

LOL Im kind of that guy too..mind you my AT kit is as nearly played as much as much as my Med Kit, but I knwo what you mean..
I guess you know about this situation Ive faced a million times..

Tank rolls into base, slaughters people everywere..you respawn AT (spec Ops for me) you look around...all medics..and you with the only weapon to put an end to the rape fest..So there you are looking at your team of paddle welders thinking "you sack of $hits, Im gonna stick my neck out there try to fire a rocket or plant some C4..and you keep repspawning as a Medic..WTF!!"

Oh course the minute you fire an AT missle or have a failed attempt at planting that C4,,you will be humped back alive..usually to face the same death, along with the medic that thought the revie in front of the object that just killed you was logical..

I usually have a sense that the other guys on my team are thinking "die die die!!!" casue they never really seem to want to hlp me..just revive me.

The only thing that I can comment on is that I hate the medic in BF2, I WILL NOT play one. Sometimes I think I get a revive from someone just so I can be killed and revived again. So he gets points, the guy killing me gets points and I get a nice death streak and a new worst enemy.

Yes and no. I do use the AK101 when I am MEC. I would use Assault but I like hand nads. I just feel I can get them into places I can't with the launcher. Killing with the AK is first on my mind. Healing and reviving are last on the list. Unless you are my squad leader. As USMC I only use the single pump shotgun. A ground pounders best friend on city map servers. And if I am MEC and kill someone using the pump. I will drop the AK in a second and pick up the pump.

I am Colonel and medic is my second least played kit after sniper by about 10 hours. So to answer the question, yes, there are others out ther besides you.

It won't count as a death streak for you so long as you get revived (you only get a 'death' when your 15 seconds expire).

 Oh god yes, I know the feeling. That's usually what I call 'server switch time'. People respawning as medics in that situation annoy me, but not nearly as much as people respawning as sniper. But I will say this: Playing as AT for as long as I have has taught me a great deal about how to avoid armour even when I'm not AT and where the best places to hide and rocket snipe vehicles are on most maps, where vehicles can't see you or get to you (except Jalalabad...haven't learned any of the good sweet spots on that map yet although there is certainly always plenty of armour around to practice on). If anything it has made me a smarter player.

Assault dude here with about 140 or so hours with it. Think medic is my least played kit. Although my assault rifle KDR would probably be like 7 and not 1.6 if i was using the G36E and self healing like a cheap noob. Probably higher if i decided to be even more of a noob and do it on IO mode. I just feel it's all too easy as medic. Guess that's why people always play the kit. Too bad it's 3 shots and dead for those poor suckers.
