So how has 1.4 finally turned out for you???
For me I experience some serious performance downgrade. I have two nvidia 7800 gtx in sli mode but only get like 40-70 fps because of the fluctuation. This patch really screwed something up in my bf2 experience even though I got a really got pc. Please tell total bf2 members of what you think about this patch.:|:

Three biggest bugs are still with us.
1. Red bug.
2. Servers very unstable.
3. CTD
Also the list circulating of over 100 items that most agree need implemented / tweaked the game is still a long way off what it should / could have been.
Urgent patching still required, 1.4 is only marginally more stable than 1.3.Comment

id say 1.4 aint to bad and its better than nothing,dam id rather have 1.4 than 1.3 crashig every 10 mins :)
on a side note OP i take it youre 2 7800's are running bf2 at max res with some serious AA and AF settings.
if so have you tryed playing with the nvida control pannel.
1.make sure vsync is off (or fps will lock at refresh rate)
2.make sure youre desktop res and refresh rate match those in bf2 video settings.
3.im not suggesting you dont know the above 2 just trying to help :)
4.have you tryed turning AA and AF options in nvidia control pannel to application controled followed by turning the AA value's in bf2 video options to youre preferd level of AA and AF
5.if 4. doesnt work for you do it the opposite way,
turn AF and AA levels in nvida control pannel to the AA and AF level you like,followed by turning bf2's video options AA and AF to off.
maybe you have tryed it ,but i dont know that so i threw a few suggestions youre way.
i heard the 91.xx drivers were a tad dodgy have you tryed the 84.xx drivers since 1.4??Comment

You are like one of maybe 4 or 5 people total that I have actually seen having problems with the patch. Everyone else seems to have gotten a more stable game. Saying that it is "marginally better" than 1.3 is insufficient. This last patch did not reinvent the game, but it did what the promise was "optimizations". Our servers have not crashed at all. I've not had any CTD issues what so ever. Ask other server owners if they feel the patch has not corrected the server crash issues, you might be surprised by the replies you receive.Originally posted by Lazza66
The red tag bug is seen as often as Bigfoot these days. It's still there but it is not as rampant as it was a few patches ago. Even in 1.3 it was negligible. I think some people are using this as an excuse to team kill on occassion, or to cover up their ineptitude at differentiating between their team and the enemy. "Sorry, you showed up red!!!" aka "I cannot tell the difference between you and the enemy!!!"
Maybe you should try doing a complete reinstall and see if that makes the problems disappear. Some poeple of course cannot be bothered to life a finger to resolve their own issues, this is unfortunate. I guess in some people's minds, BF2 will never be what it could have or should have been. Can't please everyone, but this last patch was definitely pretty damn close.Comment

TBH, I think you should have one more option in your poll for: Nothing Special.
Because, honestly, I still don't think we are ahead of where we were at pre-1.3. This patch was just a fix for that patch. I don't see much difference, I still get the occasional server crashes.
I hope DiCE is working on 1.5. I would love to see their white-board of things they plan on doing.Comment

It's not a rant, for me the bugs have marginally improved, BF2 is the only game that CTD and it does the exact same thing to many others.
Together with clan members we have completely reinstalled etc, and tried different things following the buggy patches. It never helped then, and I doubt it'll help in the future.
Regarding server stability, as I was downloading the 1.4 patch I was reading admin reports of 5 crashes in 2 hours. That night with a clan member we patched and played for 2.5 hours. There were so many crashes that night we only had 62 minutes play time recorded from the 150 minutes played.
Red bug negligible with 1.3? I can show you team listings where our team has 12 players and the opposition has 29, yet others on my team through VOIP report balanced teams (well maybe I can't actually, I cleaned up my sshots folder last night).
I don't take posting here lightly, and if I say I'm getting a bug then I'm getting a bug, a sermon just won't help.Comment
