    Re: Down With IO!

I love IO mode, i only play it because my clan are part of infantry ladders, and this lets you get points, and improve without the annoying tanks base raping you all the time.

Why is it a stat padders dream? In my experience the games last alot longer, (double the time, double the posts). All your doing is playing for longer which makes it look lke IO mode gets you more points, but in reality, your not.

      Re: Down With IO!

alot of ppl saying we are not forced to play it.........how do you know?

are you looking into a crystal ball?? how can you be sure that EA/DICE hasnt taking control of my mind and is forcing me to play IO?? how do you know a masked intruder hasnt invaded my home and is forcing me at gunpoint to play IO?? you dont....stop making assumptions.....

i cant wait till stats arent supported.....it will be the rebirth of BF2...all the point-whore statfaggs will move on since all their precious numbers and E-wards will carry on over....it will be great...

IO is not about skills, or teamplay, its about easy kills, which equates to fun....its easymode plain and simple....thats why i only use knife and paddles and still come out on top.....

      i love IO

Im not exactly sure what you being labeled a tank whore and then owning in IO has to do with my post but...I merely stated that you have an option, no one goes into a server that dont want to unless they click on it and set the filters. Last time I checked the server filters did still work. If someone is uncapable of operating the server filters then that is an issue for a different setting in a different forum.
As for the opinions given, you cannot blame someone for what they like or dont like. If that is the case, then who are you to be of the superior opinion? What makes you so right and them so wrong? I dont really care for the IO thing, I think it's a pain having to walk for 20 minutes only to get killed by 30 grenades all at once. Like I said, you don't have to like the other opinions, just respect them.

The usual argument against IO opposers is they can't compete out of their vehicle. This is a false presumption.

This is the most common of the other opinions, and when challenged with numbers and facts these cowards disappear from the thread after filling it with their bile.

Some do, but most just want high spm with no vehicles. I said "USUAL argument", and "MOST IO SUPPORTERS". Don't try to twist my post.

IO is not a gamemode, it's a server side option. Period. It's still conquest. The objectives and parmameters for a win are still identical to the map that has vehicles on it.

CTF is entirely different. Don't lump the two in the same category. IO gives a chance for infantry kills to effect the game even more then they already do vBF2. Only because vehicles kills have been eliminated. I'm sure it has it's own set of strategies and nuiances, but it's still conquest.

While in CTF kills mean nothing on the official scoring. They have an effect on the game by reducing opponents that are actually alive and playing, but by themselves kills cannot decide who wins or loses.

I'm not for or against IO, but if I cared about my stats I certainly would be concerned about IO squewing the them across the board. But then again the ROE is written so loosely with admins able to created varied server atomospheres and conditions that stats mean very little any way.

The only thing that does concern me is that IO may be the final blow to the BF2 community. Dividing it, and causing it to be permenently fractured into two groups.

Personally I don't find BF2 that good at CQC to be worth playing with out vehicles. It's simply not a very good twitchy shooter.

everything would be ok if IO stats were recorded and labeled as such....that way there it wouldnt lessen the value of stats in general....i think thats the main issue here, is that with IO, the stats in general are devalued

no offence but, i dont remeber players whining to dice for a IO mode??

i do remeber players asking for coop(which we got)

the only time i recal seeing anyone ask for IO was in a video(talking to head of dice) and some clan guy asked about it saying it was popular in europe(whitch it is in ladder play)

however i do recal reding lots's of whiny post on this forum about variuos things, like blackhawk mini-guns,c4 throwing, players runing over freindly mines/clays.dodgy sniper bulit drop, the all powerfull noobtube+rocket luncher splash damage.bouncing up and down on youre belly and firing super accurate(bunnyhopping)

thease complaints, were made by most players so dice addresed them in patches(as im sure you remeber if you played from 1.0 or even demo)

i dont see the point in complaning about how IO mode/players are this and that.
and score this amount of points vs normal bf2 points, ect ,ect

ive made a few comments about my thought on IO,but we seem to have a few posters complaining about the same thing in differnt multiple threads over and over.

this is not going to make dice remover a game mode that you dont quite agree with(for youre own personal reasons)

face it there are stat padders in IO servers and normal bf2 servers spaming nad's medpacks, ammo, maybe a few knife, revive, knife.

point is you can't stop it some players spend there wholeday playing scoring xx amount of points in more ways i care to count.

if you want a stat padding free modernwarefare game then bf2 is not it.

let players play the game how they want, its a GAME nothing more.
getting uptight/agreavated about a stupid thing like IO is waste of time.

life to short and bf2 is even shorter give it a year or two and the new uber super gfx game will be out and everyone will be playing it.

bf2 may have a few server's up but dont expect them to be filled with the best skilled/fairplaying players it will most likly be the same then.

i played q3 from 1999 to 2004 and have a game now and then and the standard hasnt changed if i type i still get chat fraged,do i care no its just a game.

I am against IO, so I gave it a try.(I can say at least I tried it)

to sum up....nades. and a lot of them. I went 2-10, and 8 out of 10 deaths were from nades.
                      Its spamtastic!
                      disgusting.
I quit the game after that.

no, I wont be trying that again, thanks.

remove all of the nades from IO, and maybe you can salvage a playable game from the ruin it is now.

The aircraft and vehicles aspect of BF2 is exactly why I came onboard as an avid Bf2'er. I think IO contradicts the exact notion of BF2 altogether. If I want strictly IO gameplay, there are plenty of titles out there for that.

There are plenty still servers that offer it too, play on them and be happy.

IO mode was offered in response to point famers on Karkand getting upset about armour ruining their day. To some extent I'd also blame spawn raping by jets and helos.

But rather than having to learn to play the game as designed, they can now opt out (or is that cop out) with IO mode.

I've always felt that the stats were undermined by the huge differential in the spm between maps. It didn't particularly bother me until IO, a game mode designed that yet further enhances this differential. IO has made a play style available that some may genuinely like, but it has worsened the problem of the generalisability of stats and rank.

The spm differential between maps is worsened by the inadequate balancing of points for team actions between classes. For example an engy on an armor map gets 1/3rd the spm of a medic on an infantry map, thats not the fault of the engy or medic, but the game / points system.

Getting uptight about it may seem pointless, but I for one would like DICE to know they're pandering mainly to point farmers.

Hard earned on non infantry maps, almost a 4:1 ratio is pretty good with all them jets, helos, and other hardware around.

If it was on infantry maps you might have a point. When infantry maps come up I play infantry roles for a change, that way I can build up time etc for the other kits.
