Re: Patch Problems and Crashes here is your thread.

ok so this is my problem.
I just got the game for about 2 days ago.

ok so...i got "Battlefield 2 Deluxe edition" (includes SF). When i want to play in Multiplyer, a popup appears and says that there is a new patch, 1.4v i think...so when i click on the botton to get the path it closes the game and brings me to a website which does not work/is down/or doesnt exist...
I can still play multiplayer, but i cannot earn any exp to advance in ranks or unluck new weapons; and yes, i made sure I was playing in a ranked server (I used the filter option to only find ranked games).

I appreciate if any one can help me, please keep in mind I am new to the game and go easy on me if im doing something noobish, thank you

Re: Patch Problems and Crashes here is your thread.

There seems to be a problem with Mobility Radeon 9700 and up chipsets.
My friend since installing 1.41 has seen his FPS drop to 10-15. Runnig Mobility Radeon 9750Pro

Apprently after lots of talk with EA South Africa they have now told him that 1.41 discontinued Mobility Radeon chipset support!

Anyone know of a work around for this issue?

I mean really WTF with discontiuning chipset support?? BTW my Mobility Radeon 9600 works just fine, so go figure..

I have a friend who has the same problem right now. Installed it, patched to 1.41 and when starting the game, the EA/BF2 logo comes up, and then he's back at the desktop.

I believe there have been many different solutions to this, but I can't seem to find any hints right now. For now, I've asked him to disable his network connection, disable his ZoneAlarm, uninstall, delete the two BF2 folders (in Program Files\EA Games and in My Documents) and then reboot and reinstall all over. Also, he's updated to latest Nvidia drivers. Can't think of anything else. Are any specific Windows updates necessary, perhaps?

Re: Patch Problems and Crashes here is your thread.

I have been having a problem with not being able to get onto servers because it says that I am constantly online. Even after I log off it says that I am online. Now I have never had this problem before. It only came up when I loaded the new patch. Also now I cannot get onto any of the special forces maps. Has anyone else had this problem?

"cant find the bf2/mods/shaders/lightning.fx file and to check the directory and sync up the files and to contact my local rendering programmer/GP. REALLY!." and i was like wtf. i couldnt find that file on my hd. i am getting really annoyed so help or suggestions would be GREATLY APPRECIATED

Did you consider that the 10% you did get installed might have included the readme-file? Just because *that* file is intact doesn't mean the installation went well. Redownload, reboot and retry. Just my 10 kroner.

                    ey all,
wondering if you can help me, i have been playing battlefield 2 for a little while now,

I have just re-installed BF2 with the 1.41 patch, when ever i want to play online games i cant. when i enter the online game area and select a server, nothing can be found, i have tried turning my firewall off and that didnt help either.

the game will find all the servers for me the first time but when i want to type it my own server like gamearena or internode, nothing happens.

what must i do in order for me to play???

Re: Patch Problems and Crashes here is your thread.

Hey guys, just new here, I look through pretty much every problem to fix the crash to desktops. I have a really new system so there's not much info in relation to systems like mine having this problem, and help would be greatly appreciated.

Sometimes it lets me play for five minutes, othertimes it lets me play for a few rounds, same result, crash to desktop.

                      Here are my pc specs.

                      Intel Core 2 Duo e6600 @ 2.4ghz
eVGA 7950GT 256mb PCIe Video Card
                      1gb Geil DDR2 800 Dual Channel Ram
                      Asus P5N-E SLI Mainboard
UltraX X-Connect True 500w Power Supply 34a Rated Modular Power Supply
Artic Cooling Freezer Pro 7 Processor Fan
Dual 36gb Raptor 10000rpm SATA Harddrives Running RAID 0
300gb Maxtor SATA Harddrive 7200rpm Storage Hard Drive
                      Soundblaster Live 24bit Sound Card
                      Lite-On 52x CDRW
                      Lite-On 18x DVDRW

System is not overclocked at all

Running Windows XP Pro SP2 Fully Updated

I have freshly formatted this system 2-3 times already, installing only necessary updates, drivers, and bf2, same result. BF2 Deluxe is installed off the five cd's, then the 1.41 Full Patch is applied.

Video Drivers I'm using are NVidia's Forceware 91.47 because this is the newest drivers that support my card, none of the new versions do which I think is retarded but ok, lol.

I heard NVidia's NForce IDE SW Driver causes conflicts so I tried not installing that as well and using Windows default dual channel ide driver, same result.

I tried running pretty much every resolution in the game and all the settings on low even with dynamic lighting and shadows turned off, same result.

There is no anti-virus software installed, firewall, spyware, or emulation software.

I monitored the system temperatures, and they are running below stock specs so heat is not an issue, but just to make sure I removed both sides of the tower, still same result :S

My Power supply is more than sufficient for power, so power issue is eliminated.

I Ram mem test on my ram and it never failed a test, so memory leak is elimiinated.

I read a lot about dual core issues with the AMD and I'm not sure if it's the same with the core 2 duo's, so I even tried setting it to run on the 2nd core only, but same result.

I tried using the onboard sound and removing the soundblaster, same result.

I tried stress testing the system with various benchmarks and tests, not one crash at all, it's only bf2 that's causing the problems.

If anyone can help me out with anything else that this may be it would be greatly appreciated. I tried various drivers for all my devices, still with no luck. I'm not sure if one of my parts just don't like battlefield or not, but any insight in to this would help a lot. Thanks.

OK, I think I figured it out, had it running for an hour or so, no crashes yet, here's what I changed.

                      BIOS

                      Advanced

                      CPU Configuration

                      Virtualization Technology - Disabled
Enhanced Intel SpeedStep(tm) Tech - Disabled

I'll play some more and report back if it continues to do so, but looks good so far, hopefully this will help anyone with the same sorta issues.

OK same thing after, about 1 1/2 hours, back to the same crash to desktop

                        One other thing to add!

                        UPDATE YOUR VIDEO CARD DRIVER!!!!!!!!

Also, if you have not updated your motherboard BIOS in a while, you may want to check to see if yours is current.

I was having the Crash to Desktop (CTD) issue after reloading the game. I uninstalled a few programs that I was not using (Combustion, MSMYSQL Server, Autodesk Inventor and a few others and updated my Video Card Driver and have not had any more CTD issues.

i have a couple of problems every so and so...on some servers it says im a private with 0 points, when im actualy a gunny....then on other occasions when i want to spawn, the game crashes completely...theres also a bug that, despite me setting my video settings on my prefferences, it sometimes goes about itself and displays everything to the max...i use the latest 1.41 btw

I have some strange things like that also you ever have you weapons just change from full to single shot or when you respawn the kit you chose is not the one that comes up? The patch seems to be in correctly but I only see about 50 servers but I know there are alot more I am not sure why I do not get the whole list.
