creating bf2142 is sort of pointless, star wars battlefront2 is already like bf2142 so whats the point of making it? I dont think EA will satisfy their buyers of 2142.
I dont remember reading anywhere "BF2 Final". I think there might be some more things to come.
I for one am not holding my breath . Ive played everything since Bf42 wake demo and i mean every patch ,mod, everything & im sickened by the way Ea/Dice has handled this game
I agree - we're at the point of "Run what ya Brung". That's it. You still get your medals and unlocks and whatnot... But the game as you see it tomorrow will be the game as you see it in three years (when only fourteen servers play it).

I have many, many online friends that I met in '98 that played rogue spear then, I quit in like '01 and they still play, some of them still 30+ hours a week.
Its funny.
But I don't think BF2 is that good of a game to last as long as RS or some other popular games, like the original CS (even tho I never played it)
I think we've seen the last major changes in BF2. BY that I mean new modes (IO) and a new map.
I think the only way we'll see added features is if they want to test out 2142 features in BF2.
I reckon we'll still be getting patches though if things go awry so I don't think we're being completely deserted, just that the focus of ongoing development is now unequivocally BF2142, not BF2. In my mind, as long as the vast majority are happy with 1.4 then that's not such a bad thing. In 1942 the final patch pretty well sorted out everything and we were left to get on and play, simple as that. Modders knew where they were, we knew where we were so no problems.
I hope 1.4 will not be the last patch. You never know though...
EA and DICE are still winning here. Simply put, if you play the mods, you are still playing their game! If someone goes to Wal-Mart and buys BF2 just so they can play PoE2, EA and DICE still win.
With that said, you the gamer can control the sales of 2142. If you choose to buy thats your own decision but Im hopeful that enough people boycott the purchase to show EA and DICE that they dropped the ball with BF2 and this is what happens. Sure things were fixed and nerfed since the initial release but we all paid a dear price for it. Those fixes and gameplay changes included many problems.
Now we just have to wait and see what happens in coming months. Enjoy BF2 and the mods. I for one will be boycotting 2142. Ive got the BETA installed and I am not impressed at all. Feels more like a mod from DICE than a new game.
