I'm about ready to give up on commanding because of the hack that allows a player to boot the existing commander somehow. Happened to me 3 times this weekend and I don't even play that much.

You'd be suprised how many Spec-Ops fall for the, "Drop crate, and artillery consecutively," trick. Even if it is the oldest trick in the book.

Worst case scenario: You destroy the crate after it's done repairing the asset.

Best case scenario: the dumb-arsed spec-ops goes to the crate to replenish his C4, or is dumb enough to try and destroy the crate with grenades before it can repair the asset, (Which is next to impossible most of the time.)

True. However the fact the commander wastes his artillery on just ONE spec-ops is one less artillery strike on your comrades just about to neutralise and cap a flag. I don't mind taking one for the team. :) I can usually respawn and make it back to the assets before the commander can artillery again. I will have 2 C4 already on the destroyed guns which will kill them AND the crate as soon as it lands. Then I guess the whole thing starts all over again because I'll have to resupply.

Consider this:

My tickets 255 enemy tickets 210 on Ghost Town.

Base after base being capped, enemy default being spec ops'ed things going well.

One enemy spec op gets my UAV, Then the RADAR. Foolishly I drop supplies to repair UAV since no one will fix it. He reloads and destroys Arty as well.

when the server finally crashed the tickets were down 180-200 and I blame the team for throwing away the game because no one will fix the assets.

Probably being old and slow I am starting to get to like commanding (only a couple of hours/hald a dozen games so far) - I am more stretched trying to run 32 players as a team than re-spawning and running towards the enemy flags or red dots, only to get taken out. I suppose everyone feels the frustration of dropping crates and vehicles onto lone wolves hoping to get a flag back whilst trying to repair assets as an engy (my chosen commanding kit).

As I am not in a clan - do clans typically have nominated (so experienced or skilled) commanders, or take turns ?

The bonus in commanding for me (which I did not realise) is I am approaching several medals but did not have the 100+ points needed - after a successful MEC command I got over the limit needed for my golden scimitar. Can't wait to pin them to my virtual chest.

Both really. In my clan we have a couple of brillaint commanders that we trust and always listen to (and without boasting, always win with). But if a newbie wants a go and is willing to learn then one of our high ranking players will happily take the position and then resign to give him a shot. TBH, if i know the commander is doing his best, i'll happily listen to his orders and help to my best ability, even if it means suicide lol. If you want to command on a regular basis, join a clan and get yourself a reputation, people will be pleading with you to command

A good commander is what diffirentiates a good team from an excellent team :)

Yep knew that. I was having issues with the other team destroying the crates before they could fix the asset, or wait untill it was fixed and pop it again. And the one that hurt the most was the enemy tank camped out next to my arty using my supplies that I droped to fix them. Only did that once, and I could not get anyone to take the tank out.

Don't bother with the squads - Just select all the anti-tank soldiers (Anti tank symbol at the bottom of the commander screen) and tell them to attack the tank. Usually they will respond....

Wait a minute... those little bitty icons to soldiers with that specific class? You can issue orders direct to them bypassing squad leaders?

For example I select engineers to fix the UAV all the engineers in the team will get the order?

Just don't get too close to the main base cap, and the UAV, otherwise you'll run into an angry Engineer-Commander with a shotgun pointed at your head. No button pushing will save your arse then.

did you use the scan button?

You should scan now and then to make sure you are using the UAV in a needed area. Especially around flags that your team is trying to cap or defend. Don't just randomly put them around anywhere on the map.
