If they see red dots on their mini-map, they'll defend. They always do for me anyways.

The problem is highlighting those dots up before the squad leader gets into a Jeep...

There is nothing I like more as a spec ops when destroying enemy assets than to have the enemy commander provide me with my very own resupply and healing crate to blow up more assets.

I like to arty silly little spec ops who sit around supply crates for 20 seconds to replenish all of their C4.

As commander I drop a crate to repair then a vehicle on top of the crate for denial of use to enemy. If the red dot is still around my assets, I don't repair with crates.

The TV station at Sharqi is not too difficult to defend against one or two man incursions. As commander, a sniper with two claymores can keep them at bay for a limited time. Scans will show when they are closing in and a call to defend should be followed by any US team who has been on that map without chopper support against a real good chopper pilot.

I try to find out if any of my team has someone that wants to be the dedicated engineer for the points. They are few and far between, but sometimes someone wants the job. If not, I spawn in and do it myself. Although you don't get global, command or team points for the repair, you do get repair points attributed to the awards you may be going for.

Command is thankless most of the time. Find a crew of people who you want to command for as a service to make sure their needs are met. They are the ones who will in turn listen to your sitings call and respond to your suggestions of free flag or defend point from enemy. Those games where you can tell you made a difference, make it totally worth while.

90% of the time people don't listen to what the commander says. You can't expect people to actually follow orders unless you are using the voip and can talk back and forth.

Doesn't work on me as either all artillery is down or I can hear the guns firing from miles away and scoot.

Most BF2 players are a bunch of 10 yr old mentally handicapped idiots it seems. I wish this game had a system where you can only join certain servers if you have a certain rank, like in AA. It would prevent half the intentional TK's.

i think if everyone listened to their commander the game would be more fun.

Hiding out in the hanger, in my opinion, is a bad idea. The problem is that your big blue star minimap icon will obscure any empty vehicles from showing up on the minimap. I'd bet that's why your team was stabbing you: to get your attention so you would move to some other area.

Ohhh I never knew that, thank you. He could have just asked me to move to another location though.

You'd be suprised how many Spec-Ops fall for the, "Drop crate, and artillery consecutively," trick. Even if it is the oldest trick in the book.

Worst case scenario: You destroy the crate after it's done repairing the asset.

Best case scenario: the dumb-arsed spec-ops goes to the crate to replenish his C4, or is dumb enough to try and destroy the crate with grenades before it can repair the asset, (Which is next to impossible most of the time.)

I'd play a commander more often, but I'm more of an asset to my team when I'm on the field capturing flags, than I am behind the scenes telling people to do the capturing for me.

I'm about ready to give up on commanding because of the hack that allows a player to boot the existing commander somehow. Happened to me 3 times this weekend and I don't even play that much.
