    Re: Solo Helicopter?

Though the thread is hardly about this anymore, I did shoot 6 missiles at someone in a cobra today and had them all go straight through the cockpit when he switched seats. Like literally through the helicopter's thickest portion. Oh well, I just gunned him down. So missile locks stay locked if you switch to the gunner seat, but missiles tend to miss the chopper, so no real fix.

As for the morality of flying solo, there are some people who are really good at it. I've seen people good enough that I definately don't want to hinder them with my rather mediocre gunner skills. I'd rather be on the ground or in a jet anyway.

It seems to me, that when I use the TV, it seems to go right through the enemy helo. I know the tail is something to aim for, but when your facing off head on, I have directed it through the pilots face in the canopy, and nothing happens.

Lag? The server I play on most I have a 30 ping to. It seems I get near the tail, and get a kill, but head on, flies right through the entire length of the chopper.

Strictly lag? Or DICE's perfect programming?

      Any tips?

Heck, I didn't even know that you could exploit that? I never noticed anyone doing it before.

I don't know why, but I also miss often when it should have been a hit. I've learned to aim for either the back of the heli or the underside. It also depends on speed and the direction the helo is going

To be honest, I rarely switch to MG the ground troops but I can incorporate it somehow. I never really thought of doing it seriously because I figured once I destroy the armor, infantry can go at it... but it might just be another layer of fun so I'll take a shot (heh) at it.
It certainly does add another layer to solo chopper, but it is not something you can just throw in... It takes considerable practise to get it right and end up where you want for the next move...

But besides it beeing fun to do, it can also help you clear out flags better...
I played a match last week, in which I managed to MG a few contested flags clear, which otherwise would have been taking by infantry exiting the armour...

Also it is another way to take out jeeps and conserve ammo when chasing them...

If you want to see how effective it can be, watch "duck and cover" by ReDuX on google video...
(My computer simply will not handle fraps like that)...

And in the end its not so hard to use the MG, but it is easier to crash (or be shot) while doing it...

It is very important to know where and how you will end up before starting to MG... This is where most of the practise comes in...
