Landing is a piece of cake.

All you need to do is make sure you get a good approaching distance, then take the speed down to about 500 knots (perfect landing speed) and keep the nose up as much as possible while you land.

I found flying over the airfield a bit unuseful if you have low hp. Most of the runways gives 2-3 health bars, and you need to fly over them like 5 times if you are low on health.

Take a long distance from the designated landing target, and fly pretty low, just remember the jet falls down a bit due to the low speed.

Start breaking, make sure you are at 500-400 mph 200 meters from the landing pad, and hold the down button (better turning then the mouse).
Make sure to be at like 10-20 degrees when you touch the ground.

      Just practice, good luck.

pass the runway, and hold decelerate. Turn around, lightly pressing accelerate when you think you are going to stall, and just keep the nose up as much as possible.

the afterburners will help alot if u have trouble keeping your nose up while landing. short afterburner bursts can help stabilise

With a joystick, my afterburner only works when I'm at or near full throttle.

I'm a veteran Flight Simmer, with lots of experience landing planes on the computer. Yet I can't seem to get it in BF2. Do the wheels come out automatically? If not, what's the button to press?
300? you must have fallen out of the sky like a rock lol!!!!!

Well, if you want to practice landing on an easy runway to land on which is what you should do at first, I suggest trying Wake Island, join either the Chinese or USMC and try landing at the Chinese airfield as its pretty long and doens't have any obstructions.

Now to land (this is what I do), I fly from the north side of the airfield down to the south, once I'm at the end of the airfield still in the sky i'll cut my throttle so there is no power, then do a 360 degree turn aiming back at the airfield then just glide in :). You may need to use your afterburners once or twice just to keep your speed up as well as using your throttle as well so you don't fall out of the sky. I couldn't say though what speed I land at as I havn't really given it any attention. Other than that though, it's relatively easy.

Hope it helped a bit, sorry if parts are a bit hard to understand but I just woke up :\

or if you are on the landing strip already and at a low speed, just press 'e'. definitely stops the plane immediately

Re: How to land a jet?

                        300 is too slow
                        learn to fly around 450
                        then get lower and lower
and then line up on runway
and then chop throttle to idle as soon as you cross the runway
                        keep the nose up
wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy easier if you have a joystick and throttle
                        (no throttle = HARD)

soon you will get good enough to chop to idle
about 2 miles out and glide it in

then you can also land on buildings, bridges, inside the essex, on top of cranes, anywhere

map throttle to a button on your joystick
that way you can tap it even when engine is at idle

I do have it mapped to a button on the stick. It just only kicks in when the throttle is high.
It was like that with my Logitech Extreme 3d pro, and it's like that with my Saitek ST290 pro.

Thanks everyone for the advice. I'll take it all into account.

Problem: I can't do multiplayer to play Wake Island or anything, just start my own Local Server and be the only person on the map with that annoying "Game will start when..." text in the middle of the screen. I was happy when I found out I could still play all those levels, even alone, yesterday without having to go online.

                            Anyway, I will try again.

One more jet question: How do I choose how many bombs are released? Sometimes I want to release one and others I want to release all 5 (on the F15, at least) but I can't seem to control how many? Sometimes it just does one and others just 4 or all 5. it's weird...

                              Hi

On the jets with 2 bombs you can make it so that one at a time gets dropped. What you need to do is:

                              Drop both bombs
Fly back for more, but try to only pick up one (fly fast over the runway, or at an angle).
                              Then, drop that one bomb.
From now, everytime you rearm with 2 bombs, only one at a time will be dropped.

Someone might be able to find a link which explains it better. I couldn't find it.

Not sure about the big bombers with 5 bombs though - I think they're meant to drop them all.
