    How to land a jet?

    Hi,

I'm having difficulties landing jets... lol, I come in as low as 300 knots (its in knots, right?) and STILL I crash like I came in at 1000 knots.

I'm a veteran Flight Simmer, with lots of experience landing planes on the computer. Yet I can't seem to get it in BF2. Do the wheels come out automatically? If not, what's the button to press?

The wheels come out automatically. The trick is to find a nice, even surface and to keep the nose up as much as you can. Practice makes perfect!

Why do you need to land them? just fly low to get repairs and ammo.

Well, it said land the plane to get repairs and ammo :-/ Is there any way to land it at all though? (Thanks btw)

I recently got a computer fast enough to handle the high speed of jet combat (yay) but still not a great internet connection for multiplayer... so... oh well. I'm stuck on single player/

        Forgive my n00bish please :p

There is really no reason in this game to land a jet.

It just takes practice to land them... Decrease the speed and keep the nose up

Okay, thanks... I have the line up with the runway perfect (and I even make sure it's a friendly airbase, lol), come in at perfect speed 'n all, but I guess I just need to work on it a little more :-/

                Thanks.

I agree there but teh chances of you not getting spotted are very slim and even if you find a server taht allows attaxks on uncaps then wouldn't it be easier to bomb the carrier rather then sneak around on it?

I mean how many servers allow attacks on the carrier, including infantry?

Re: How to land a jet?

On our server we often land the jets and let others use them, assuming we haven't been blown out of the sky.

It's also kinda fun landing at the far end of the aircraft carrier, shooting down F35's taking off - not in a ranked game of course - that'd be against our rules - just while we're waiting for 10 players.

Slow and steady is the trick to landing. I get the throttle low enough to keep level, and use afterburner in little bursts if my nose dips.

mmm to be sure... you don't try to land fb35 like the j10 right ? ^^
To land J10 likes you need to be like 300-400 mph, go parrallel to the road while breaking but keep the nose a little up.
Landing is cool to "show off" and repair then jump back in but beware the stealer noobs haha. I can land anytime and anywhere, practice^^

                      check this out

i landed on the bridge and grass, maybe you can learn from it.

Kilometers per hour, I believe since the measurement on the HUD is KPH. Knots per hour doesn't make sense because a knot is one nautical mile per hour, which would mean one nautical mile per hour per hour (1nm/h^2) and that's an acceleration not a speed (velocity).

                        Yes, I'm a nerd.

I use the vtol to land the f-35b. but lanfing takes practice but it isnt neesary.

Re: How to land a jet?

Landing a jet is indeed a worthy cause, one which I practice all the time (although not as much now I learned how to pick people up in the bomber without landing lol).

Anyway, to land a plane in BF2 is easy, just remember these few points:
                            • You have to be almost stalling to land without damage, and at a very shallow angle.
                            • Start hitting reverse thrust a good 5 seconds before you are near the start of the runway, it takes a lot of time to lose the required speed.
                            • Be aware of where the repair/ammo giving zones on the runway are, and adjust your landing to allow you to taxi to these zones easily if required.
                            • Leave enough room to take off again! Three point turns in jets turn into 9999 point turns, and reversing up the runway is no fun either.
