I often wonder how people get to some of these really high ranks such as 1st LT, Captain, Major, etc. I then decided to crunch a few numbers...
I couldn't help it... I scroll through some of these forums and notice that some of you have these "hour tracker" signatures saying how much time you've devoted to BF2 this week/month/year. I noticed that many of you at 2nd LT and higher play 35+ hrs/week. You do realize that pracitically qualifies as a full-time job, right? Now I see how anyone gets to a level like 1LT. Perhaps if I quit my job and just played BF2 from 7:30-4:30 (w/ a 1 hour lunch) I could possibly make it to a level like yours... Wow... Don't you have anything else to do? I mean really... Lets consider 2 scenarios...
1.) You're young and go to school from 7:30-2-ish... that leaves 2:30-11-ish (8.5hrs) on weekdays and all day Saturday and Sunday (12-15 hrs each). Thats a total of 60-70 free hours TOTAL per week. Assuming you have at least SOME homework (1 hr/day) and eat OCCASIONALLY (1.5 hrs/day) that leaves 42.5-52.5 free hours not eating/doing homework per 7 days. Dividing 35 by these numbers tells me that you devote between 66 and 82 percent of your free time playing BF2. DO YOU HAVE A LIFE??
2.) You are older and work for a living... You work a typical 9-hr shift w/ a 1-hr lunch. Lets just figure it's an 8-5 job. Assuming you don't work in a quickie before work, you can't really start playing until 5:30 at the earliest. Lets assume you go to bed by 12:30 am. That leaves 7 hrs/weekday and all day Sat and Sun. Thats a total of 60-70 total free hours. Lets assume that you eat and occasionally leave your house. For argument's sake, you eat 1.5 hrs/day and you spend at least 1 hour/day NOT playing BF2. That gives you the same scenario above...
My point?
If you're spending between 66 and 82 percent of your total free time playing BF2, I'm not that far off when you are sickeningly good in-game and I tell you to get a life/girlfriend/hobby (other than BF2) and you yell at me and say, "I go to school" or "I work for a living". Yeah... and other than play BF2, thats ALL you do... For your own good, please... socialize a bit... diversify your life just a tad... there's more to life than BF2.
Not a sermon... just a thought
