        I understand his point.

There are lots of players out that have have more than 2000 hours devoted to this game. There are some players that have more than 3000 hours in. 3000 FREAKIN' HOURS! HOLY SH!T.

Look at someone like this guy, Furyhunter

He has 3619 hours! That's almost 4000 HOURS!

To put that in perspective... I'm married with a kid. My hobby right now is BF2. I have a full time job, get home around 5PM every day. I usually play til about 11PM. My wife says I play the game too much. I play the game A LOT. I play almost every day. I may take a day off here and there, but not that often. Occasionally, I'll watch a movie, or go to dinner, but pretty much, every night and almost all weekend, i'm playing BF2.

And guess what, between my 2 characters, since August of 05, I have 741 hours in, plus maybe 100 hours CLAN time. That's maybe 800 hours, in a year. And I play this game A LOT!

Now, with that in consideration, how in the hell does someone play 3600 hours? What about {TA}Firestorm and his 2400+ hours on Karkand alone. HOLY F.UCK!

Don't use bf2tracker.com it's garbage. Besides that's a bug, that guy hasn't played 3619 hours, he's unlucky and his account and stats are fubared.

Everybody that playes above 5/6 hours a day will be ticked by the OP.
I play half an hour to an hour a day, and if I wasn´t married I shure would love that the majoraty of guys in the world played at least half the time that the top ranked players played.

Hummm maybe not, Girls don´t like nerds...well this one will get me flamed.

Ok, just joking, I would love to have time in my life to play at least 2/3 hours a day BF2 or other games but babies and wife don´t go along well with computer games .

Re: My thoughts on some of you "top brass" players...

I just got to 115k points and thats from Sept 1st of last year so rougly a year.
But heres how my schedule goes..

              Mon-Fri I work 4pm to 12am..
So basically I get up at 7am, make my son and wife breakfast..then i do some chores and go back to bed for a nap.. then maybe play from 1pm-3pm if I have no chores or things to do (rarely this happens lol) then go to work...
Get home at 12am..all my friends are in bed as well as my wife and kid..So I play from 1am to 3-4am..sometimes I must admit I just stay up all night and play till the kid and wife get up and I I go to bed after they leave for work/school.

Weekends I dont play till they go to bed and sometimes I dont play at all during weekends..Since my work hours conflict with family time my weekends are the only time I have to make up the time i miss and do family type stuff.

If I had normal hours Id play less, but theres not much to do when you get home from work at 12am everynight accept play games and watch Adult swim, most of the world is in bed or already drunk/high/nekkid lol.

edit!: just liek to poitn this out...
people have hobbies..some guys spend money on car parts, spend time in a garage etc.. soem guys go to bars or strip clubs and I dont like sports..
              I am a Gamer!
I dont buy mufflers or head lights, i dont go drinking with the boys..
              I buy games..
If I spent 20 hours a week rebuilding a car or watching baseball would you think I was wierd then?

If I was younger and single Im sure getting home at 12am wouldnt be an issue..but those days have gone bye bye..

Oh and my book reading time, PSP time, are my at work things to do.
Also I dont ever watch TV unless its Adult Swim or a good show on History/Discovery chennel etc..

I can see the logic as to how you got to your conclusions to the thread starter but it is flawed.

I have just recently achieved 1st LT and according to my stats, I average 1.67 hrs per day. This doesn't add up to the 30+ hrs a week that your assumption states. I have had the game since the day it was released.

One thing that you have discovered by your logic though, is the fact that the ranks really don't mean too much. It simply means the higher ranks have been playing for a longer period of time. It has nothing to do with skills for the most part. :salute:

well, I've had BF2 since release date and I only have 17 500 points :P

I wish I could play more BF2 because it's an awesome game, I dont play any other games. However, I just wish I had more free time for myself to actually play it at least 15 hours a week (at least), I only get about 1/3 of it.

As a player who manages to play maybe 2 hours a day at the most I don't have any problem with someone spending all 24 hours a day on this game if it pleases them. If they have fun doing it and are happy I think that's great. People like you need to stop obsessing over how others choose to spend their time and worry a little more about how you spend your own (making a useless forum post for example..).

                        So true lol

You complain how much people waste time playing this game.

How much time did you waste typing this up?

The only thing more lame than the ppl that spend their entire lives playing this game, are the ppl that are jealous of their rank/awards… Not a sermon... just a thought :)

I don't "have a problem" with them either. I just can't imagine playing that much. I'd get bored of the game if I put that may hours in.

I've had the game for almost a year and I have about 8500 points.

I grew up in a small town and didn't really do much either and I played quite a bit of video games but I hardly do anymore now that I'm at college. BF2 is the only game I play and thats for maybe 2 hours a week, if that; and no, I don't watch TV.

Re: My thoughts on some of you "top brass" players...

My gaming is light compared to how hard I used to play back in my middle school and high school years (mostly because I lack a really incredible game at the moment). I don't consider myself a nerd by any stretch of the imagination and in fact I am very normal but back in those days I used to play a game called Ultima Online in an almost obsessive fashion (nobody else I knew what the hell it was so they could never understand..). I've always been a hardcore gamer really since I first played all those old games loaded on to a 5.5 floppy on my dads ancient PC.

But I digress.. Ultima Online.. it was just so much fun for me it was beyond compare to any other game I have played since and I'd even go so far as to say it was the most enjoyable collective experience of my life... entertainment wise of course (The PvP was great, house looting was a rush and of course murdering other players in cold blood was so much fun). I can still remember sneaking up on the popular high-traffic mining spot for some easy miner loot and running in to some anti-PKs for an all out battle. Sometimes I'd win sometimes I'd lose (I'd usually win..) but I'd always have fun. I miss those days chasing some miner through a densely packed forest with my heavy crossbow of vanquishing. Sometimes I'd forgo going out to that party all together so I could go on an Ultima Online marathon and play sometimes for 12 hours or more straight. Don't get me wrong I didn't like to blow off my friends (I didn't enjoy the flak I used to get from them either) and that isn't to say I'd always do that because sometimes I'd go out but often times I'd find myself having less enjoyment than I would just going on an Ultima Online/Asheron's Call ect... gaming marathon. Call me a nerd if you like but that's just the honest truth and I can't help it.

If I could do it all over again I would've played more UO because sadly EA/OSI quickly ruined that game with patches but my point being life is short (and it can be shorter than you imagine) so enjoy it. I live by that enlightened philosophy and let my own pleasure guide me so I can get the most out of my time on this earth. Nobody should feel like they have to live their life by certain preconceived norms or standards that the society of old has established and should feel free to blaze their own path and live life the way they want to live it. As long as you're not hurting or negatively effecting anybody directly in the process it's O.K. in my book.

Have fun and if you want to spend every drop of your free time playing Battlefield 2 you go right ahead and do it.
