that was serious son, that mod looks soo amazing that it really could be sold for 50 dollers but now that just makes me feel like there just robbing us with 2142 (TRU)
Well there is a commercial reality, EA wouldn't release something as extensive as a total conversion for nothing. But really, what I'm seeing in 2142 does not flick my buttons NOR seem to justify paying the equivalent of a new, full priced game.
You're the exact sort of consumer EA is targeting - the sort that loves buying "new and improved" products which are basically a slightly altered re-hash of the original. Enjoy.
I most certainly will. I'm in the gaming industry, and the bf series...each one... (cept for vietnam...sucked)... is definetly one of the rare game series that I truly consider that it proved it's worth in $$$ spent to get it.
I've gone through a lot of games working with Gamespy to see enough low quality games out that that demand $. Games like Halflife 2, Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy, and Battlefield 2 has truly proven their worth for the money and have proven to be of high quality...even after several months/years after the "brand new feeling" was gone.
Battlefield 2 is truly a success in the ranking idea, as well. Why? GLOBAL stat recording. On other games like BF2, you would have to stick to one server to keep your stats (IE enemy territory), but BF2 does the impossible by having a global ranking system.
If all of us smart people just leave the 2142 bashers alone for a couple months, they'll eventually wonder where all the anti-bashers are, and they'll find out we're all playing 2142, so they all buy it, come in and say OMGWTFHAXORS... WOW DIS TITON MOADE IZ AWWSUM!! I LUV DIS GAIME!:|:
Not spoiled, I just have high expectations for a full priced game. For $50 I expect a totally new gaming experience, not the exact same engine with visual changes, new maps, and one new play style. I actually want it to feel like I'm playing something new, not something "altered".
If BF2142 was the only game to be released in the next year then I would buy it, but the thing is there are plenty of other options coming more worthy of my attention and time (Spore, QW, Crysis, etc). Take a look around the net at the "Top 10 most anticipated PC games", you'll see BF2142 features on none of them.

So? The Mechs are not the only thing in the game, and they won't be overpowered, because soldiers will have C4 and EMP Grenades.
And incase you don't know, because the majority of the people that play this game are mentally retarded, EMP stands for Electro-Magnetic Pulse, which disables the vehicle for a short time.

I think what he is alluding to is the fact that a lot of people are wowed by things like Mechs and the Titan mode. To me, Mechs translates to "big tank variant" and Titan mode into "oh look, they bought back the ships from the original BF42 game and sculpted a whole game mode around destroying them."
Look, peace to you, brother, and if you find something like BF2142 to be worthy of your time, you're a luckier man than I.
Titan Game Mode-
It includes- a big *** ship flying around a map that is controllable. Having missle silo's firing depending on who controls them, weaking the shield. Then, you have to use the pods that were coded in to launch to the ship. Then blow up the 4 thingies that guard the door and destroy the core. On the way use those floating squad leader bots that fly around you and shoot at enemies. Also if your SL be sure to play the spawn point in a safe place, it'll be easier for you Squad members to complete the objective and get more points! If you want deloy one of those tri-pod guns go ahead! Maybe activate the cloaking so you can go up to someone and steal their dog tags. All the while hoverships and mechs created with the new walker code are firing endlessly upon the Titan and weather effects poor down. Don't get caught looking though! Those new and improved lighting, shadow, and explosion graphic effects are sure to catch your eye.
edit: D'oh, forgot active defese, those flying mine things, and that EMP-crap.

Also NOTE- The above words were based on released articles and footage. I'm not the biggest OMG2142 fan, so this is based on very limited research. I am reserving whether or not to get the game AFTER I ACTUALLY PLAY IT. For once people, if you don't know **** don't open that mouth.

Ummm.... BF2:SF didnt sell THAT great and there are few servers left that run it? Kinda like the booster packs.

Go play BF42, it had ships that were controllable, some where aircraft carriers, some were warships. Both were moveable by a driver, warships had controllable artillery and landing craft. Both were destructable. Add 5 years of gaming evolution and we have Titans? Big whoop.
just get poe2 and fh2 when tehy are released which should be soon.thats probably the reason ea wanted to make 2142 come out within a year or so of bf2's release so that they can make people buy the new mod for 50$ before they have the chance to get a equaly if not better entertaning mod for free. 2142 will be full of bugs and exploits when it is released IMO.
