In that case, quake wars is an expansion pack for doom 3. Uses the same engine. Weak argument? Yup ... you go figure.
I'll buy 2142 anyway, I just really look forward to it. I haven't really seen any futuristic shooters that play like a normal shooter. They all have this weird sci-fi feel that makes the weapons handle like crap, and everything look confusing.

And btw, that's one hell of an expansion pack that is ... 10+ maps, all new classes, weapons, improved gameplay, new vehicles, new gamemode, improved graphics, new sounds, new setting/story/background ...

DOOM 3 = go around dark rooms and kill monsters, and i believe no multi player.
QW = using vehicles, team play, almost like any battlefield series game.
they might use the same engine but you can't compare the 2. they’re totally different games and different objectives.
other than the skins, vehicles, commands etc…2142 and BF2 share the same objective no? team A using futuristic vehicles trying to defeat team B, wow this is soo much different than we’re used to playing in bf2.

just because they’re providing new sounds, skins, vehicles etc.. it doesn’t make it a new game. again look at the Starwars MOD for battlefild 1942 a WW2 mod. also, see the above post.

looky looky, new vehciles, new sounds, everything is NEW. the only they used from the original game is the game engine. it's a hell of an expansion pack and it's for FREE.

It's not even out yet, it's not a mod and it's not an Xpack.
Last time I looked, this place was for Bf2 discussion, not 2142 discussion. If you feel the need to bash it, go stand in front of a mirror and abuse to your hearts content, because the person looking back is the only one how gives a sh*t.
god some people need to grow up, are you just cranky because ET:QW got delayed, hell even they know 2142 will kick arse...

If only BF2 wasn't so difficult to mod, us as a community could have come up with a mod called BF2142 and a 1/2, with almost identical skins, vehicles and maps to 2142, but slightly better gameplay. That woulda showed em' :P

That Galactic conquest mod looks the business, when you consider the dramatic change to the original BF42 game and the fact that thats a free mod developed in peoples free time.

Wow, good call on the starwars mod. That does look really good, almost good enough to be titled another game and sold for 50 bucks.

If they had waited and used Valve's Source engine and Steam, they could have made some good money charging $20-25.

Although it is BASED on the BF2 engine, it is being revamped, tweaked, and improved...so it is not a true sequel, but it will surely be a kick-*** game in its own right.

QFT. The graphics engine (which has still been improved upon) is about the only thing that BF2142 takes from BF2. In gameplay, the changes are more numerous than there were when switching from BF1942 to BF2. You guys obviously haven't been paying attention to the gameplay modifications that they're bringing in BF2142. It's going to be a much more squad-based game, and overall better gameplay than BF2. And Titan mode...don't even get me started on that sexy beast.

2142 = BF2 MOD
look at the Starwars mod for bf1942. bunch of very talented individuals, obviously Starwars freaks lol were able to create an awesome mod using a WWII game engine, physics etc... and best of all it was for FREE.
