Everything on High 4xaa, no Vsync, 83.90 drivers (these give the best performance), it does this even after a windows format and install. Just swapped from a 7800gt.

Here's the sequence:

-6800GT with below specs from August->November 40-80fps all high.
-7800GT 495mhz/1.22ghz got 70-90 November->February then 25-45fps.
reformatted, tried changing everything but GPU RAM and PSU
-7900GT 635/1620 30-50fps on full city maps.

Every other game runs fine. I average 60fps in FEAR with all maxxed out settings.

I just got a 9859 5 minutes ago in 3dmark05. Have done all routine PC and OS maintenance in the past 2 days.

thanks for the info but you forgot to mention youre psu,does it have 20a in the 12v rail or higher? not 100% sure what min spec psu is for youre card but im gussing 450 min(1cdrom+1hd) so u have lots of fans ect taking the power away may be the problem as the 6800gt doesnt have the same problem in the same game,

I honestly don't get good frames in karkand either... I've had a 7800gt and a couple 7900gt's, all pretty much the same. I have a sneaking suspicion that crowded city maps with lots of players can be really heavy on the CPU... but I haven't really confirmed that yet. The only evidence that I have supporting that is a custom timedemo on Karkand with 64 players I used to have. I tried it with my CPU overclocked and my CPU underclocked, and according to FRAPs thee was a lower fps with the underclocked CPU.

The human eye can detect framerate up to about 400. Framerates above that are too quick to distinguish clearly, although we can see them.

Anyone who thinks 30 or 60 fps is the limit at which the human eye detects is a total moron.

Karkand is definitely a killer fps eater. Crowded 64 player server alleyways = 20 fps max

Rosewill 450 watt, dual 12v rail totalling 33a, I have 2 HD's, 1 NIC, 1 optical, 1 floppy, mobo, cpu, ram, 7900gt, 6 case fans minus PSU fans.

Honestly man, I did a whole PC upgrade to try and get this game runnin. I think this may be the worst coded game ever. This game is like crack dude, it begs you to think that its not runnin as well as it should if you have good equipment (as you and I both do) I feel your pain brother, i got an athlon64 3800+ Orleans on an AM2 board, eVGA 7900 GT 256MB revised edition, 7200rpm HDD, 2 gigs of pqi turbo memory. The only thing I can think is that maybe the memory is bad, but I ran memtest on my sticks and it came back clear. Anyway, keep fightin man.

The only time I get below 30FPS is when running right into a smoke barrier...
And my specs are not much better than you guys:
AMD Athlon 64 3200+
2 x 1GB (dual channel) RAM
Gigabyte 7600GT 256MB

BUT! I am running on a totally clean windows, with just NAV and logitechs setpoint sh*t running (though I tried winamp 2.8 which gave me good performance anyway :) )

30FPS might be good for some, but when you spend alot of money on a 7900GT (Should have got a GTX but meh) you do start to go WTF.

It's EA's crappy patches. I used to run 1280x1024 4xAA/8xAF High, then the SF patch came out and I had to put my settings down to 1024x768 2xAA/4xAF Ligthing on medium, rest high.

Now im down to 1024x768 2xAA/Shadows all OFF/Rest medium.

Specs:
AMD 64+ 3200 Venice @ 2.4Ghz, 3800+ Speeds
1.5GB DDR400 Kingston

I would say he was expecting an average of 70-80 FPS with most the eye candy turned on like I was with the 256mb 7900GT, is this too much to expect?

40+, I find anything under 40~45 for a FPS (First Person Shooter) is to low and hard to aim with.

You just made yourself a bigger moron the us.
a game with 40 fps ALL THE TIME is totally smooth. The problem is that fps isn't so stable, so an average of 50 fps can be 20fps to 80 fps, so u sometimes might get lags.
People say that the more fps u got the better gaming experience, that's because the chances the fps will decrease to below 30 with an average of 200 are very low. As long as your fps doesn't go below 40, you are all set. But it won't happen to you if you have an average of 50, cuz always there are smoke grenades or massive explosions that cause a fps decrease.

psu seems very good 12v RAil wise,but it only pushes out 450 watts,for test purposes have you tryed lowering the AA settings and maybe other settings and see if you fps go higer than 30 on the karkand map.

it could also be the driver youre using 83.xx seems low im using 84.21 for y 6600gt(agp)

you could also try a modded driver(if you wanted)

of course you card should play bf2 on all high,but for testing what setting have you messes about with,also do you use driver cleaner when changing/upgrading to new/old nvida drivers.
