The players should read the EULA before checking the I agree button. It's EA's game and it's their ROE, all players and server owners are bound by it whether they choose to read it or not.

guys, i play on a server with no vehicles or artillary (mostly). i only play as a medic and usually on noob jalalabad....recently when i go on a site to check my stats like bf2s.com it says they cant find my player info blah blah, but when i play in the game i still get new weapons, and increasing my rank etc. why cant i find my username on these websites? its been there before.....

This is the way I see it (just my 2 cents worth). If you want to play on a k&p server, you should be allowed to, without the risk of having your stats wiped. I personally don't play on them, but I think that the option should be open to any who wish to do so. I think it's stupid that there are rules about which type of server you can play on, when those who are hosting the server that set those rules, are paying to run the server. It should be run by whatever rules those who host the server have set. If you don't like those servers, don't play on them. It should be free choice.

well, if you're on a KP only server....LEAVE. You should get your stats reset if you are caught there, its the same as cheating. You make it sound as though you want to be able to go to KP servers (im not accusing you of anything before you whip out the flamethrower).

Live by the stats, die by the stats. Most standard EULA's have a disclaimer that the developer owns the software you are using and is issuing a license to you to use the software for a price (the price you paid for the game). It also usualy states that at any time they, the developer, can revoke your license for any reason they chose. This is not just EA, but Microsoft, Oracle, Symantec, Logitech... etc.

Here's my take, and answer to a few questions.

As far as the OP goes:

Ignorance is not a defense. Can you defend a speeding ticket by saying "everyone else is doing it"? Of course not.

It's not "mis-adverstisment". You can still play the game, you've been deprived of nothing if your stats get wiped out. If they got wiped out each week, you could still play the game.

EA has the right to do anything with "your" online account, it's actually theirs not yours. So they can do anything, and I mean anything. They could eliminate the entire system tommorrow if they feel the cost of tracking stats becomes too expensive (for example).


The ROE is written far to vaguely. This doesn't apply to K&P servers though, and if I"m not mistaken, even makes mention of that particular situation.

Unless the user can't read, I see no reason to absolve him getting his stats wiped. Wouldnt' everyone just claim ignorance? The true meaning of the word.

I can not care about stats, but at the same time want ranked K&P servers eliminated.

Even though I don't play for stats, I can certainly recogonize that a system that assigns points, badges, medals, and awards by way of statistics in order to dicpict some one's expereince and skill, needs to have some sort of strict policies how those stats are collected. Otherwise they mean nothing.

Just because I don't play for my own stats doesnt' mean I don't want everyone's else's and my own to reflect a standard one can at least rely on some what.

It's also a big part of autobalancing. Which affects me even though I don't play for stats.

Good points and well put, however. There will never be any balance or standard level to judge anyones abilitys by points or stats. Especially at this point in the game where all the main players have K/P'ed H/P'ed so much that your rank or stat no matter how good or high will compare to the 1000's of players already at some extravagent point count. If they were truly going to stop this type of gameplay they should have done it at the outset. A year into it, who cares really?

In that light, the ROE is actually hampering truly honest players from ever reaching certain goals, the badges are hard enough to earn for a lot of players and the majority of them that have all of them expert didnt get them by just playing fair. Maybe the guys with 1000+ hrs but thats the only scenario that would give anyone the time and ability to get them all.

Ive seen many clans who have just played to lose and gain badges for there teammates, right there in the open in front of everyone. Simple enough "hey Im at the hotel by the burning car come get another pistol kill, knife kill, etc". Let some clanmate kill them enough to get the IAR and voila' free badge, not padded (In ROE terms) but not earned.

So my point stands, the ranks are so overstacked with these types of players that anyone who has just started playing, with all the "NEW" rules, doesnt have a chance to play to any standard but his own.

It is NOT FAIR AT ALL.

A friend of mine got banned because he plays by clicking the "play bf2 now" button. He ends up in pistol knife servers & doesnt know.... gets stats reset. soooo not fair. he doesnt even know the title of the server he is on....

Well i think its a very good analogy...you say you cant think of a soul above the age of two who doesnt know what speed limit is or that is totally oblivious to the existance of the speed limit...well for those people living in the community should know and most likley do..but they use that excuse anyways...same with the people in this community...99% of them know the rules...yet they complain much the same as in the above analogy. My point to the community is this...the ROE is a guidline...just have fun....dont stat pad...dont glitch ...even if ea knows about the glitch and does nothing about them...dont hack...its very simple even for people over the age of 2. This is a community of mostley intelligent people i believe...so lets all just follow the "guidelines" and just play already...we can do without all the drama.

Its getting to the point where the mods for bf2 are going to reign supreme and the ranking system will mean nothing to this community anyway( im not trying to bash ea or dice here), but stats are important to some i understand this...but you must understand the other points also....thats why the ROE was created...to bring balance to a system that will become very unbalanced if left un checked and un monitored...im very sorry that this is the case...but it is what it is.....

1) not play BF2 anymore
2)Own Higher ranking guys and call them "Noobs"

Ok just for the record, most people in the community cry and whine when they get reset and then attack the game, the roe, the roe programs or whomever. If you care about stats...stay off the servers that violate the roe...if you dont care about stats...and get reset...stop bitchin about the roe and resets and play strictly UNRANKED.The game is what it is, the game is supported the way its supported, people move on already...EA is most liklely not going to bend to the will of people who violate the TOS. Do you honestly think they will change the rules for people who stat pad and break the roe?...not gonna happen get over it. A nd now im sure i will get a response that some people dont even know about the roe....but you know what?....its a lousy excuse at this point....more players by now know enough about it to stay away.Example of ignorance....if someone is speeding on the highway and gets pulled over by the police...they say sorry officer i didnt see the speed limit sign....the cop says its been posted for years....yes it sucks that person gets a speeding ticket....just the way it sucks that the person gets reset....oh well....think about it people.

i really dont want to be an a** but even though ur message is clear it is a very poor analogy. for one the speed limit sign is in a clearly visible public place for everyone to see and it is i cant think of a soul above the age of two who doesnt know what speed limit is or that is totally oblivious to the existance of the speed limit. secondly a speeding ticket is simply a slap on the wrist compared to getting your stats reset. my point is that a restting is a bit of an extreme response in most cases.

also i am not one to criticize the ROE itself because there is nothing wrong with it (aside from a few things that could be clarified.) i think it is safe to say that it is safe to say that most people that post dont have a problem with the rules themselves but rather the way they are enforced. i have made a few suggestions (not sure if u have viewed them already) that may save u and others in the ROE a bundle on tylenol to counteract the headaches u get from all of the b*tching if emplemented.:p take a look:http://www.totalbf2.com/forums/showt...54#post1107654

there are a handful of people who will say "forget the stats and have fun" but as long as the stats are an aspect of the game the vast majority will care about them. its been that way and i cant see it changing because of a few posts on a forum.

nerds. I say screw BFROE like you said doesnt say on the package, so I dont give a rats *** what BF2ROE says I dont cheat or nothing but im not going to change how I play online. But myself I play to have fun not for stats they can wipe it if they want.

Bottom line: worry about how you play, not whine about others.

What the F*** do you care what they are doing?? Follow your own advice and find another server that caters to what you want. Im not saying they arent idiots but really what the F*** do I care what they are doing.

Course for that to work, you would have to stop worrying about what others are doing and start worrying about what your doing instead.

As for my analogy that someone else mentioned, simple extrapolation would apply. If they took out something that you used and said its now illegal would you stop doing it? My examples may have been less than perfect but the point remains.

The ones who say the ranks ruined the game are absolutly correct, it has done nothing but divide the game into 2 catagories.

Those who play for the fun of the game and the ranks are just there and Those who are so wrapped up in them that they forget its just a game.

Looks like you have not been keeping up on all the threads on this forum, because there are a couple excellent community members on this very forum that have been caught up in the K/P servers that were not padding, but just happened to be on the server, caught up with the rest of the mix. They got their stats cleared.

True I have read a few reports of that.......:)
