People, please keep an eye on your minimap

It's really starting to get frustrating being a commander. This happened yesterday, TWICE.

I see a absolute TON of baddies guarding a flag. There are no friendlies nearby except for a dozen of my guys holding back at the entrance of the flag. So, I voice to my squad leaders to hold their attack till after the artillery, and then I team chat to everyone to not rush in until the artillery strike. I hit the drop arty button. There's a big red circle...and what happens? ALL of them RUSH in which results in 8 teamkills from me. After that, some guy spawns at my spawn and begins knifing me saying that I am trying to get the team killed.

Well, some people just don't learn. It was a close game, so one arty strike would win the game vs a 5-5 ticket ratio. Plenty of baddies at their flag, and no friendlies around at ALL. So, I drop an arty on the flag area to win. I spam team chat over and over telling EVERYONE TO STAY OUT OF THE ARTY FIELD. What happens? 12 freakin people on my team suddenly jump into vodniks and APCs and charge into the arty field resulting in us losing 0-3 while people are screaming at me for "teamkilling the team on purpose".


Come on people....look at the freakin map. The big red circle does NOT mean there's a prize in the middle. Stay AWAY and listen to your commander!

i no what u mean,i see ppl do it all the time,its like wtf are u doin,there is arty at that flag!!!

I feel your pain. Been there, done that :cry:

And you're right. Most ppl are just interested in getting kills. I have learned to pay attention to the minimap and well if the commander says "Artillery your area" then I will stay back for sure.

There are lots of new players out there. Lots of privates, sergants (Spellcheck ) and well its frustrating to be on a team that doesn't pay attention to the spawnpoints and map.

Unfortunately, some players do think there is a prize in the the middle. What I don't get is in the "beginning" of Karkland, you can hear the USMC artillery firing. "Hmm, maybe I should look where that artillery is headed for" but some players ignore it.

I always feel stupid when I get killed by friendly arty. In my defense it only happens when I spawn in and have enemies right in front of me. I'm too busy trying to stay alive to look at my map and get situated properly.

I always watch for that. Soooo many times, I'll be in a car and the arty icon comes up in the place I'm heading for. I stop and people in my car will jump out and run up there to be killed. Cars drive by me to go in and get killed. One guy even was beeping his horn like "get out of my way, I'm going to cap that flag"

It's like claymores.

The skull and crossbones are NOT repeat NOT ice cream cones. It's so annoying when something should be OBVIOUS to people, and they still don't get it. e. g. Nametags. UAV up. Uniforms. Yet I still get teamkilled by a SNIPER. Now how is that possible?

Well let's be sure to flip it around - last week my squad and I found ourselves attacking a flag. We had the UAV up and knew there were only 2 baddies guarding it - no match for our full squad.

Right as we get into the flag zone the commander announces that he was dropping artillery in the area for a 6 on 2 fight.

Have a little faith in your boys how bout it.

I heart the mini map....

Once you train your eye(s) to constantly check it, kind of like you check your mirrors in your car, you will see a huge improvement in your ability to play the game...

Well, I prefer to ride with agressive armor.

Last night im a 50 cal gunner on a Tank sitting at Plaza (Warlord) with nothing happening around.

On the spin map I see a battle royale with lots of enemy targets under the UAV on the spin map at Palace Security.

Beating the 50 cal over the tanker's head to make him to go Security was a waste of my time.

Sounds like you had more of a problem with people not listening to you either. Perhaps the squad leaders all sucked as well because they did not have their squads stop when you told them to wait for arty. Or maybe you were the only one with voip. Sounds like a complete cluster **** round. Must have been extremely frustrating.

Sometimes you just don't have time to react by getting out of the way. Seeing as how most claymores are placed around corners and high traffic areas for BOTH teams, I think the people spamming all the claymores need to take a little responsibility too. While trying to watch the mini map, things right in front of you can get easily overlooked in the heat of the moment.

Another common problem with claymore users is that so many try to use them as offensive weapons instead of the defensive weapons they are so they aren't really careful or choosey about where they chuck them down.

Don't expect people to pay attention to or give a **** about the commander. The number of idiot commanders far outweigh the number of good ones. It's a learned behavior, commanders generally suck, so people stopped listening to them. Sucks but I don't see much of a purpose for a commander in public play outside of UAV.

Don't worry as you gain experience as commander you will learn where, & when to drop arty

It comes from playing hundreds of hrs. in the exact same positions your troops are in, & then hundreds of more hrs. being commander

& if you really want tk free arty, don't drop arty close enough to your own troops that they can run under it if they tried

1 "trick" is to "offset" the arty away from your troops, it only takes 1 shell to wipe out a squad, be it enemy, or friendly
