    High Points Servers

hey another stupid question from sassback. here goes :

would servers that have a 64 map size but have a 40,44, or 56 player limit be considered as such.

before u tell me to read the ROE again i have just come from the site and read over and over until i felt like my eyes were gonna bleed. didnt see any specifics covering this particular area.

*replies from the ROE guys would be especially appreciated.

I think it would be 24 or less.

High point servers. Never seen the point. Most if not all of my badges have come from learning the game and playing in a team. I think that if you get caught you could pay a great price with your stats wiped which is it worth it. I do however see that some of the awards are set high but it is just a case of learning the game and what works best.

The question I want to know is I do feel sorry for people who hired the server for a cost to be shut down. What gives E&A any rights to shut a server down after all a person has paid for it. What is your thoughts. As for getting stats wiped off it may be fair on cheats and hack and people who bloke the jets from taking off and also tks for any jets or vehicles. For using a jeep with C4 to blow up a tank I can't see any really major harm, most of us have done it in the past.

Using C4 explosives on fast-moving vehicles to destroy other vehicles (C4-ramming) what a crap rule.

There needs to be a sticky for all the treads like this that I see. With an official view of it by some ROE people (an official rule quote and then a description of examples). This seems to be a very nebulas subject for everyone.

you CAN have 16 player servers
          and use 64 man maps
the ROE does NOT prevent that
as long as those 16 players play the game in its normal intended fashion
the games can be long and boring (usually are)
and even though you MIGHT get many many points
I WAGER that your SPM will actually suffer

            Re: High Points Servers

High points servers exist for people to get awards, getting requirements like 20 minutes in a type of vehicle, that would be hard or impossible to get on a map that has the designed amount of people on it.

The solution should have been a differing requirement for different map size.

            Such as.

Expert AT small map - 10 kills IAR
Expert AT medium map - 15 kills IAR
Expert AT large map - 20 kills IAR

Its allways been the number 1 piece of advice for people chasing awards
            - Play on a big map with small number of people

              Re: High Points Servers

someone from dice (dont remember where and who) defined high point server as a server where people stop bleed and go stat padding, e.g in karkand usmc takes hotel and then eveyrone takes knives/pistols and do stats. 16 players in 64 map is not a high point server.

well - even though I disagree
but then again= my personals opinion does not matter
according to a direct source at BFROE
he said , EA call 16 player 64 map
high point server by definition !!!!
well - then why are those servers still listed in browser
this EA /DICE team are the biggest irresponsible smacktards on the planet
if they do not have the technical skills to fix missiles that fly into no where
so be it, that might be hard
but to list a decent set of well -defined rules would take about 30 minutes
and then to enforce the obvious rule breakers
                would take about an hour

                I just checked
                took 3 minutes
there are 32 servers that have 16 man limit
                and 64 man maps
and several even said (still ) Knife and Pistol only
                EA can't won;t reset these servers/clans/admins
but still troll, looking to reset noobs who do not know better
then brag about how tough and effective they are

yeah, on any given night you can find plenty of knife/pistol or 'high points' servers in the browser, shame EA doesnt police this more...

high point servers are against the new ROE..

3.2.1 Players may not use or exploit game mechanisms to artificially boost their score ("stats padding") and Server administrators may not knowingly allow or encourage this activity on their servers.

This would include but not limited to:

                    (a) Using tag teams to take turns to kill and revive each other in turn (using knives, pistols, etc.)

                    (b) Playing on Knife and/or Pistol only Servers

                    (c) Playing on Knife only Servers

                    (d) Playing on “High Points” Servers

                    (e) Playing on “No Artillery” or “No Armour” Servers (except when using Infantry only server-side option)

                    (f) Using Vehicles removed from battlefield for purposes of artificially inflating points

                    (g) Turning boats upside down and constantly repairing them

                    (h) Glitching inside buildings (using building model glitches to attack out without risk of being hit).

So I guess that means when I get home from work and want to play BF2 for a while all those servers everyone see's in the browser will be gone great job.

I would be willing to bet Lance Armstrong's right testicle those servers are going to be there for a long time.

When have you ever seen EA turn down a revenue stream?

Indianscout...you never define those three words (High Point Servers)!!! WTF is a High Point server!? That is such loose of a term WTH does it mean!?

Is it a 64 player map that limits the player count to 48 people total? Is it a 32 player map that only lets 16 people play? Define it, give us some examples in a sticky for a change!!!!

I am getting so tired of these rules that are just one line and there is no philosophical behind them. When a court hands down a ruling, the judge gives the reasoning why because he is often setting a precedent. Every time I see ROE contribute to the community, as much as I like some structure, they loose my respect more and more because their answers are short and vague.

                            Agreed

My feeling though, with it being so nebulas, the penalty for breaking these rules are way to severe. Come on! Wipe people's stats because they are playing on a server that wants a different style of play? Where they host a server that keeps the teams small so you don't have to run around looking for 64/64 servers that are totally empty.

Why not have warnings? And why not define your reasons.

A good analogy for this is bank robbers making a get away in a fast car then the cops grab the bank robbers but let the car and the get away driver off on his or her merry way to pickup the next set of bank robbers.

Please understand I think the BFROE is important and I think we need it.
But the way to get people to obey it is to bust them all the people in the servers and the people that rent them.

That means put in place a system the warns the server providers to let there customers know the must conform or have there server turned to an unranked mode.

That would be the best deterance to breaking the rules.
