Apparently not... since there is no specification on what is a high points server, it is legal at teh moment. -

My clanserver is advertised as "24/7 Karkand - High Points" but it is not really. It has the correct tickets, 32 player map size for 30 slots. Does this break the ROE in any way?Leave a comment:

Re: High Points Servers
Hmm, getting defib kills in a knife and pistol server is not rare and i have never been commented on one. It's in regular servers that you get comments.Originally posted by ColdCircuitCashthe sole reason i go into K/P servers anymore is to piss people off with constant defib kills. it's not really stat padding since there's no medal/badge for it. That will not piss people off, using a tank, explosives or guns will piss people off in a knife and pistol server. But what's the point when you just get banned anyway.
It is statpadding even if there is no medal, since you can get a lot of points doing it. I have gotten over 50 points just using shock paddles... It is still statpadding, whatever you think.Leave a comment:

I my opinion, it is pretty clear what a high point server is. IF the server name has "High Points" or "Knife/Pistol" in it, then you can bet it is a padder's paradise. IF you have a server message stating "No Armor" or "No Arty" or excluding anything that a "normal" server allows, then you are in a server that is deliberately breaking the ROE and you could be subject to a stat wipe for playing on it. It all goes back to the part about "playing the game contrary to the original intent in order to gain an advantage" part.
As far as EA/DICE going after the server instead of the player, well I have heard of server providers losing their privilage of hosting a Ranked server. It does happen. The hard part is that unless a server gets reported, EA/DICE assumes that paying parties won't willfully violate the contract. Ranked servers make money for EA/DICE AND the server provider. Way more money than unranked servers. So, unless someone reports a bad egg, EA/DICE assume that the server provider is not intentionally out to lose revenue.
Player's stats are easy to see, server logs are not. If you get pissed at a padder, you can fill out a complaint and that player will get looked at hard. Since "high point" servers can generate "high points" for those that frequent them, who is going to turn them in? Not the folks that are getting all of the points. So those servers hang around until somebody makes a complaint.Leave a comment:

if EA wants to get serious about busting cheaters they should take 3 steps im sure everyone in the bf2 community will agree are necessary and beneficial for the proper enforcement of the rules.
1) Go after the servers themselves that clearly state high points or knife and pistol in the title. (it is unjust to not to punish the server owners that provide the means to cheat just because they pay a monthly fee.)
2) Revise the ROE and and make it crystal clear as to what a rule violation is. also define terms such as high points in a way even the "village idiot" would understand.
3) Make it possible to view the ROE in a place that is highly frequented by new players so as not to cause confusion later on.(the Tbf2 forums or the site itself would be a start.)
one final point/ idea i would only propose is that EA cut its losses with past violaters and concentrate on the current violaters because chances are if the violaters are intentionally cheating they will still be dioing it. doing this would not only make it easier for the ROE police to do an immense job that they have before them, but also benefit people who made mistakes in the past but have since learned better than to do things such as padding and visiting the illegal servers.
Atlast a man with a plan!!!
This is exacltly what is needed.
It's a perfect 10 SASSBACK

Originally posted by <<R2>>Capt.HKSHPS are quite easy to define. They are any server that doesn't play the game as intended. eg knife/pistol servers, flag hopping servers where US must keep the Hotel flag at all times to stop the ticket bleed then players repeatedly cap flag after flag and may not attack each other.
They are usually 16 players on 64 player maps but that alone is not a HPS "as long as" they play the game the way its intended.
The trouble I see now is this. As IS didn't write this ROE, all questions about it need to be answered by EA/DICE and you know what problems that will cause, we will never get an answer.
I agree though that they did need to clarify the HPS as to what exactly they are but to date they have been the types of servers I outlined.
I would agree. If you want to term servers that have 64 size maps on 16 slots you could call them High Score as in your final round score, not High Points. People that play those server will have a lower Score Per Minute. It will likely take you over 2 hours to get over 200 points. Your SPM will fall vs maps with 64/64.
But for some, including me, a 64 size map on a 32 slot is nice, it opens up just a tad and adds one more flag for most maps. 48 on 64 size is perfect for less lag and round score IMO. But that is my old computers limit.
Also what happens when you are on a 64/64 server and less then 20 players join the entire match. Should you then worry that you have been in (technically yet unknowingly) a High Points server and would loose your stats?
I played in BFROE's 64 slot ranked server the other day. This very thing happed. Most of the time there were less then 16 players. Was I then in a High Points Server?
What about EA/DICE plan to drop the minimum players to start a round? Soon I understand it will take only 8 to start a 32 to 64 slot server. That is what I understand. 4 V 4 If the server stays at that number of people they will rarely see each other. But 5 V 5 in a 64 is little different.
No, "High Points Servers" should be defined as those that limit/prevent flag caps to improve scores and make the match longer, not based on slot/map size.
All of this is why we have a round time limit on our server.Leave a comment:

High point sever. Is to make a player gain more point faster and quicker than playing on a 64 man server. Although in saying that I have seen some very good scores. This is what I take a high point server. But the next question is who gives E&A the right to close down anyone server? After all they may have paid for it. And who gives E&A the right to wipe anyone stats who have just came onto a server that is a high point? After all we have (well I hope) paid money to buy a game is a type of bullying from a big game company?
Just thought I ask a couple of questions just to keep the topic alive as it is interesting to read what you think a high point server is. By the way don't start banging on about or slagging me off as I only ask two questions to see what your thoughts are.Leave a comment:
