the only key I mod is the middle mouse button to switch between auto/semi/burst fire modes

w,a,s,d FTW as other have said more buttons around it plus it means that my two hands aren't fighting each other for space.

omg... im having a problem with my new settigns... how do i go prone by going left or right? my fingers dont reach z they cant go off if im going left so wtf??

Arrow keys.

mouse1:fire
mouse2:zoom
mouse3:teamspeak
mouse4:jump
mouse5:voip

Insert/Delete/home/end/pageup/pagedn = different weapons.

kp_ins: prone
kp_end: crouch
r_shift: reload
r_cntrl: sprint
=: parachute
backspace: enter/exit vehicle
kp_456= chat all/team/squad
kp_789= spot/requests/VOIP to commander

So, basically, I re-define every key mapping. I use an original IBM AT keyboard (The brick), and it's about 20 years old now...

Had the core of this key assignment since wolfenstein days....

I use W, A, S, D, its the only way that I feel comfortable using my mouse. I also changed one configuration, which is that I moved my prone button to "F", I'm going to move crouch to "F" if the accuracy thing starts to occur. I win ALOT of fire fights this way, I mean ALOT. I can tap it so fast, that I'm done dolphin-diving before they can even start. I found "z" hard to use.

can someone please tell me how to go prone when going left or right with w,a,s,d that meens gonig left not stopping and pressing z. i cant do that. is there a trick?

Left handed, and I'm one of those that actually uses the mouse w/left hand.

Mx310 has fire/alt, enter/exit vehicle, and the commo roses on it.

my wasd is: P ; L '

just a flipped version of wasd, still use space bar for jump, etc... reload, crouch, prone are all close to my movement keys...

no, like when im going left and want to roll is it possible to press z and roll while im still going, cuz my guy just stops and my thumb is on space etc.

Right shift: prone
KP 1:weapon slot 1
KP 2:weapon slot 2

Enter: Use
KP del: squad screen

Always thought people used the arrows more.

I use the arrows, not because I like them better, but because I have been using the arrows for movement ever since 1999. (Delta Force :p )

If anyone uses arrow keys, here is the ultimate setup for arrow keys. I have tried severl different configurations and nothing beats this:

Arrow keys to move.
KP_INS = Reload
Ctrl = Crouch
Mouse 2 Prone
Mouse 3 - Aim (sec fire)
Map your guns to the num-padkeys. (so you can quickly choose the gun u want).
Shift = Jump

I use WASD however when flying helicopter.

If you use ARROW KEYS, you are more prone to back damage as well.

WASD makes you play in a more natural position. While using the arrow keys, will have your body turned to the right, as your left hand reaches over to the right side of keyboard.

Only solution is to move your keyboard all the way to the left, so that your arrow keys will be where your WASD keys normally will be. This way your arms are both straight forward, and you wont develop back pains after long hours of gaming.

I seem to have no problems at all, pulled off 16 consecutive hours with no pain lol

Jump: right ctrl
Crouch: "."
Prone: "/"
Reload: "shift"

For jets I use joy and for helo's I use WASD
