Re: Why are folks clueless on Wake?

Errrr this is probably not the right time to say this but when I am pissed off or need to let off a little steam I like to take full BHs out of bounds...

Course, only if the members of the BH pissed me off a lot. I like to go WAY around the island like the OP said. But when the entire BH is yelling GO HIGH GO HIGH YOU NOOB GO HIGH COME ON WE ARE GONNA DIE GO HIGH STOP GOING AROUND THE ISLAND GO HIGH NOOB and they do not understand alternate tactics I get really pissed off. Then I will crash the BH yelling at him HOW IS THAT FOR HIGH YOU ****ING NOOB? Heaven high enough for ya!! STFU and let me fly!

I find you're correct about Wake 2007 being a total disaster on U.S. team, but not for the same reasons. I never have trouble getting a blackhawk or F-35B to the airfield, which is the key position you need to hold in order to win Wake.

My problem is I'll head down to the airfield, while I'm flying I'll create a message like "JOIN SQUAD XXX TO CAPTURE CHINESE AIRFIELD JOIN AND SPAWN NOW!". I'll set down right next to the flag.. wait for people to join the squad.. wait a little longer. Hmm nobody has joined? WTF team! Next thing I know the flag goes neutral and then about 16 Chinese storm the flag in all manner of craft and I die alone. If even TWO people had joined and spawned that would've been nearly an instant cap.

Sometimes I do get those 1 or 2 people with some common sense.. but then what happens when we capture the airfield? Nobody spawns! Even when I start spaming on the team channel - WE HAVE THE CHINESE AIRFIELD, SPAWN HERE AND DEFEND! So then the Chinese run down and recapture it because it's the 3 of us versus about 15 Chinese if not more. All the while we've got about 10 worthless U.S. troops sitting on the Essex trying to grab an F-35B, Cobra, or Blackhawk. Why team???

In short: if you see the Wake airbase go friendly, SPAWN ON IT AND HELP FIGHT! If you see a squad leader on the Wake airbase, SPAWN ON HIM AND HELP CAP!

When the round starts i will spawn on arti island and take boat to tip of the island on the south side and allways destroy the boat as soon as i hit the island! I will allways be spec ops so i can C4 the tank. Get to south base wait for the tank driver to spawn and kill him then take flag!! it works about 70% of the time but u need to be quick!

Re: Why are folks clueless on Wake?

There are several givens when it comes to wake Island. At least on full 32 or 64 servers:

1: Tanks will be waiting at the end of both sides of the island spawn killing people on the arty island or killing people in boats or transport helo's

2: J-10 will be attack the carrier and probably killing the first set of jets and attack helo's

3: US teams will always attempt to take a boat to the edge of the map knowing they will 95 percent of the time never make it because they are magnets to j10s. (boats are useless on a populate wake map)

4: Full transport helo's for some reason will always go straight down the island knowing they are spotted 100 percent of the time.

5:Only after 30 confirmed kills will someone finally man the gun position on the carrier.

6: there will be 10 medics who just don't care to get off the carrier and run around throwing med packs and reviving people that are getting killed over and over because they stand in the middle of the carrier in the wide open throwing med packs and reviving.

7:Snipers will always be at the tips of the island and US forces will always have a sniper on the arty island that gets killed over and over. you contribute nothing to the match by being a sniper on the arty island.

8: j10's will constantly kill every thing on the arty island on their way to the carrier (I know I do). All you need to do is sweep left to right a couple time with your gun and you always get a few kills.

So what are some lessons we can learn from all this?

1: Boats are useless on Wake. Only time I see a boat being used is if you spawned on the arty island to repair t he arty and you don't feel like swimming for 15 minutes.

2: Transport helo can be useful if the pilot knows whats goin on. I've seen good pilots go up to 500 altitude behind the carrier and moving forward to one of the middle flags. Usually it would be best for im to be squad leader so his guys can consistantly spawn at said helo and continue the fight.

                3. The US attack helo in the beginning should have a good gunner that can TV missle the tanks that camp at both tips of the island.

                4. US Jets should focus on the opposing teams base and jets. don't worry about the group of ground pounders you wanna drop bombs on, they are not priority.

5: Soon as the first squad in the helo is over the check point and have a confirmed flag those individuals should break off and start individual squads in invite whomever is not in a squad and hide out for a sec till they start spawning on you.

6: capture the AirBase as soon as possible and defend it at all cost. If you do happen to capture it quickly have special opps blow up the all assets: artillery, UAV Hut, Radar. That will deal a nice blow to those suckers and it's easy to do once u own that flag. don't waste time because that flag usually flip flops back and fourth from both teams.

                7. set claymores all over flag near the airfield. Guys always hide behind the building or try to sneak up the side. also the porch on the back of the building they will hide and capture the flag. and the hill just to the left they can lay down behind it quite a distance and still caputure it. if you get a kill off a mine you can be sure there are more guys in the area. Chances are the squad leader is hiding in the area and guys are spawning on him. Request uav and clear the area before you lose the flag.

8: Have a special ops guy check the assest periodically because the enemy will sneak around and repair all their stuff and usually are pretty sneaky about it.

9: I always see a tank just sitting there. at the airbase after US has taken over. That tank should always be taken and used when it spawns. I don't care if u were goin for a jet and are waiting. Once you have both air bases tanks are a killing force.

Especially when it's ground fire. They just give up or get bombed, and by the time they come back they can't find me, or I've made it to the inside shore (not the point) and they are are still looking for me in the water.

I spawn quickly if it's a new map load so I form a squad. I take the RIB and dont' wait for others (only on first spawn after a load). Sorry it's Wake, if the other team has slow loaders I can make valuable time and space in the RIB.

My biggest beef is when I make it, and no one's joined my squad. I look and see a cluster **** on the ACC. I type, join squad "X". I stay alive and dont' try and turn the flag myself. Type some more. Still no one joins.

I don't even care if you leave my squad after. I could give a ****. But let's just get a foothold.

It's sort of the same stroy with Karkand as well, Every single time I play Karkand I see no engineers Blocking the main entrance with landmines, Tanks and apcs just roll on in and kill everybody. For once I tried being engineer and blocking the entrance with mines I put three down and the tank and both apcs blew up, I guess after so many rounds of not being blowen up, the tank whores did not suspect there to be a mine on the ground. Now I try put a mine there everytime I play karkand.

It does, but I avoid airfeilds and ACCs like the plague.

My best chance is on the first spawn after a map load. Even if some one spawns the same time as me he's either:

                          A) at the airfeild and has to get a jet, and make it to the arty island to see me.
                          B) is at North, and get's in the tank (first player always takes the tank), but it's slower. Useally driven in cockpit veiw so it has less visibility, and is a big time target for the first of our jet pilots.
                          C) is at South and does the same.

I go straight up the middle as far away as possible from both inside shores. It can work, but is dependent on the load times of apposing players.

Infact the only caps I make at wake are with RIBs or swimming, from arty island. If you continually take RIBS, one of the times you may make it. If it's not the first spawn it requires you to lose the rib to enemy fire, and then have them taken out. Then the swimming starts.

I've taken 20 RIBs in a row or more before making it on the Island.

Sometimes I still take the RIB if another spawn is capped. You'd be suprised once North or South is taken that the apposing team will assume the entire US force is spawning at their only Island cap. Sometimes you can cap the other Village spawn alone.

I don't fly so I think throwing everything at the Island possible can't hurt. What do I care what my K/D is at the end? I've become good at baling out, at just the right time. I've tied up jets simply by reversing directions or swimming at odd angles that they wouldn't expect. I'm a small target for less expereinced pilots.

If I get any kind of suppport from Jets and the Commander it can make it it much easier. The secret is to bale out of the RIB, and swim.

Hell I've even swam the whole way, when really getting pinned down by pilots. Sometimes the ground forces never see you enter the water at that distance, and pilots don't look for swimmers that often, if we do we're harder to spot. If you stay in the middle till you get "pin high" of either Village spawn you can slip through.

Re: Why are folks clueless on Wake?

theres a problem with your way, its putting your eggs in one basket. no matter how well you fly away from the fight, its always quite possible for the j10 to see you.

the real answer to winning wake island as the usmc is to get on the island, if your fully loaded blackhawk gets shot down, we dont have a foothold. you must divide and conqure to win.

only 1/4 of the team should spawn on deck. the rest should either spawn at the small island or spawn on a squad leader in the heli or boats. ok heres the key part. when you are over land, no not the cp, but when you are over the shore bail out, and start pushing the enemy tanks with at, or slip by them on the sides. then start capping flags and raiding the airbase. theres a huge reason why its important to push from both sides.

lets say you make it there with your fully loaded blackhawk. lets say you take the beach. the entire enemy force can contain that area which would be good because the first bases would be undefended except for the fact that by that point the j10 will be able to pick off any transport before it gets to its destination. the same could be said for main base. ultimately if you dont divide the enemy 2 two fronts, they will overwelm you and any foothold will become a slaughterhouse.

If your a pro at flying the F35 then your doing your part by taking down J-10s. J10's usually dominate the f35's so its good to have a good f35 pilot taking out the enemy jets. Keep it up.
